I have to say after reading forums in 1999 watching videos in late 00s and today this has got to be by far the best how to video I’ve ever seen. Everything was accounted for, nothing spared, explained in laymen’s terms, camera angles of everything. Absolute perfection. Cheers!
Wow! Great job and super enjoyable to see a regular just doing it smooth and having fun! This made planning the job really easy and took the “unknown factor” out of it. Thanks for sharing. I am gonna subscribe just as an encouragement!
My screws that hold the camera in place is so rusted that the heads disintegrated when I attempted remove them. Now looking to replace the camera...sucks. Great video!!!
Thank You for this video...Having an issue with my backup camera on my 2017 Chevy Sonic....Did not know the applause piece was attached that way....(Assumed it was glued on as I have to used an airgun to blow out water that collects between it and the car body when I run through the car wash....) Again this was very helpful....
Working on a 09 that's blowing park light fuses. I suspect the license plate light sockets, but I am struggling to get to them. Those 4 bolts for the panel aren't captured tightly on the back side, so they are just spinning when I try to remove them. ALL of them are like that. I might have to resort to some sort percussive persuasion.
thanks for responding.the audible alter in my truck is not working like it should and I'm having trouble finding a replacement.looking for some direction
Since the 4th screw on the applique is so hard to put back in, what are your thoughts about leaving it out and depending on the other three to do the job?
Same with me - this video is great but the spinning bolts create a major problem. I tried applying WD-40, but no luck. A Google search yielded a recommendation of applying a torch or heat to get the lock tite to melt, but having already applied oil, I don’t want to oil to catch fire. Bummer - great vid, though. I put the truck back together - maybe I’ll try again with the gray suggestion in a couple weeks.
No - I had invested enough time and had other things to do. But I may tackle it again on a warm day with the new game plan to attempt heating up the bolts - would have tried today had I not sprayed the WD-40 on them..
MrMtbpatroller Hi there. I found it on EBay and if you search for 15173619 camera there is an OEM part there now for $99 and free shipping. Good luck with your project!
Hi. I’d like to not only replace my camera, but also increase the resolution. Is this camera the exact replica of the original, or upgraded with better resolution ?
Hi Paul. I do have the reverse sensor system in the rear bumper with an audible alert, but it’s separate from the backup camera. Thanks for watching the vid !
I’m a woman and you made this look so easy , I’m going to give it a try THANKS 😊
That’s so awesome! Go for it and good luck. You can do it 😊

That's the way to present it! Calm, steady filming and those written comments. Just perfect.
Hallgeir Olden thanks! I hope this helped.
This video was spot on and very helpful. Very happy to have a working camera, mine hasn't functioned since I got it!
Thank you! I need to fix it myself. I don't have the money for the dealership. I know I can do it now. Thanks again!!
congratulate you for a good job.
The explanation is easy and fast.
Thanks
Only video of this I’ve been able to find. Looks like my traverse is similar enough that it should work.
Good luck Armando. You can do it !
Absolutely great video. You covered every step. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the video. Made changing the backup camera on my 07 Yukon a lot easier. Minus some broken clips 😊

Aww sorry man :(
I had the same thing happen, what did you do to fix it? The heads actually broke the plastic. Not sure what the part is called to order a new one?
Great video. Thank you so much. This is just what I was looking for.
Thanks James. Good luck with your project!
Thanks for the upload! Helped me understand how it all works

Air-1! I need to do this on our Yukon Xl, nice to see how it all comes apart, thank you.

Very good and detailed video, another 07 jinx of GM among many others.
Did the replacement camera have the ability for the parking assistance grid guidelines?
Since the 4th screw on the applique is so hard to put back in, what are your thoughts about leaving it out and depending on the other three to do the job?
It really wasn’t very hard with a ratchet wrench, just time consuming so I wouldn’t skip it to avoid any possible water leaking into the rear door.
@@jskidpatrol thx. good point about avoiding water leakage.
So my 4 screws that hold the applique on the back are spinning and will not loosen up.. any tips or ideas.?
This was a great DIY video. Ty. Well done
Also. I looked up the model and that camera from factory is 3-500$. Was that an oem part or aftermarket

Thank you for the great vidio
Ugh. When I try to remove the four nuts the bolts turn with it. I sprayed some WD-40, but still no luck.
Hi. I’d like to not only replace my camera, but also increase the resolution. Is this camera the exact replica of the original, or upgraded with better resolution ?
Hiya. The replacement camera was the same as the original, which was really quite good and provided a clear image.
Thank you for easy my job.
Nice job NO!! NO !!
Great job 👏👍
Thanks for the info big dawg.
great video. did your truck have an audible alarm that worked in conjunction with the camera and reverse sensors????
Hi Paul. I do have the reverse sensor system in the rear bumper with an audible alert, but it’s separate from the backup camera. Thanks for watching the vid !
Thank You, this helped
What was the part number for the camera
@@timlown5036 21:46 in the video. Good luck !
What brand camera did you use and how has it been?
Hi Matt. I believe that it was a GM / OEM camera. I mention the part number at the end of the video.
It’s still working perfectly.
@jskidpatrol thanks!
hello , where did you get camera and what was the price on it? great video by way ..
I got it on Ebay. I believe that I mentioned the part number and price near the end of the video. Good luck with your installation!
Is the same method for 2013 chevy tahoe???
Sorry my friend, I’m not sure.
@@jskidpatrol okay thank you for your response

Cool video
Wow! That was amazing!

شكراً 👍😃
Seems like im the only lucky one that had the pleasure of all 4 nuts just spinning along with the bolt lucky me 😔
is it really hard to remove the lens of thee factory back up cam?
Just for giggles I tried to take the old lens off the camera and broke it. It does not appear to be removable.
@@jskidpatrol thank you.
Your awesome thank you.
Thanks!
