Absolutely- the Set Machine Region command will let you limit the toolpath to a particular region. You can define the region using one or more rectangles, circles, polygons, or load a DXF file.
Is there an option to assign a machining operation just to a subset/region of a design (like in Rhinocam)? For instance, let's say there is only a small part of the design that has a lot of detail and requires a 1/32 endmill, but the other 95% of the design can be roughed+finished with a 1/8" endmill. Would I be able to use a rectangle, circle, or freehand region to keep the fine detail routing to that specified region?
Not sure if I'll get a response for this, but does this software have the ability to simulate odd tools such as Corner Rounding End MIlls, Dove Tail cutters, as well as Woodruff Cutters? I'm trying to machine out this track for clips with a specific radius and the conversational programming simulator only has a few tooling graphics on it. I can't utilize it to verify if what I wrote will work the way I want it to visually so if this CAM Software can do that for me, I would be very impressed and likely to purchase it.
I am trying to do a similar run , but taking a jpeg picture and having meshcam machine my part in MACH3. It turns it into a 3d with the X being 1.5" and the Y being 1" .. My material is a 3"x3"x.50thick part. The only thing is, when I go to run it on my machine /MACH3 , for some reason it is machining/hovering about 1/4" above my stock and not plunging/machining into the stock? Does this have to do with setting the Zero setting in meshcam? aI set my zero setting on mach3 100% correct?
Maybe you have to set Mach3 X,Y and Z to Zero, leave 0.010" (maybe using a piece of paper simulating the thickness of 0.010"), after that you can set it either start from any corner or the center and then start your G-Code, do not used the probe just do it manually.
Have a question for you , I am new to cnc , got my self a 60-40 router . I have installed Mach3 and set up for work in mm .I have set up the axes compare to instructions , is working good . I got mashcam professional licence , I have downloaded grayscale image from google ad have loadet to Mashcam in mm . The router is carving the material but in strange dimensions ! not in mm and not in inches ? how is that possible and how to fix et ?Thank you for any help .
You set up this 3D draw and export in g code in only 5 minutes??? Waawww!!!! I have to purchase this program absolutely! But you can confirm me it work with Mach3 program with out problems?? Thanks!
ARG!!!! Nice program guys! I use just TWO of the options: -1-Import Image -2-Export STL heightmap Should i pay 250 dollars for the toolpaths that i don't use? Please rech the 3d printer community of many billion by providing a basic version of your program with the two above functions for 5-20 dollars. There are alternatives to your program, although for the moment it seems like it might be the most suitable for my ends. Thanks Alot.
I am building my first CNC, and am shopping for the CAM component of my system. Does MeshCAM have the ability to execute rudimentary designs, as the 2D package that Vectric offers?
The finish can be improved with a finer stepover or with additional toolpaths, like a pencil finish, added on. I wanted to keep it simple for the video.
can you do a followup showing how to do that? I enjoyed the email crash course, and I'd like to see the extra step. I've never machined before and I'm getting my cnc router in a couple weeks and want to know what I'm getting into. Thanks!

Really nice looking piece. Looking forward to trying out the software!
The toolpaths can be used for hobbies, prototyping, or manufacturing. It's totally up to you.
thanks for the quick reply. Going to give the demo a try over the next few weekends.
Very clear and informative tutorial on a piece of software that appears almost intutive!!
MeshCAM will output tool changes which are usually configured to pause the machine.

what is the difference between meshcam meshcam pro and art

¿All the cut process is whit the same tool ? Thanks
Any chance of adding additional tool change options?
Is this a software for hobbies or can this be used for manufacturing?

When you generated the G-Code, does the program pause between parts?

The finished part is really jaggy.

It looks pretty good. Not bad at all.
I can even do a toolpath on a circle or square. How is this a simple project. I've been failing for 3 days straight
