This song Albert is playing brings tears to my eyes; because he played like this in my home almost 25 years ago. Albert has an "ear" that VERY few ever have. He can play ANY thing; slow, medium; and faster than the guy blowing his horn when the lights turns from red to green. Oh indeed! But the BEST thing about him is: He is a devout Christian and he doesn't hide and keep it to himself. May Jesus continue to bless him always. c. Dixon ("pat dee")
You do know that believing in God doesn't inherintly make you a great person, right? There are plenty of highly religious people, just like plenty of highly atheist people and plenty of people who are highly on the fence about the whole thing who rape, murder, touch up little children, cheat, steal, hold opinions which are racist, sexist etc etc. Somebody's spiritual leanings are absolutely never a good indicator of their character. And I honestly think that Jesus himself would have agreed with that. After all, didn't he very famously preach not to pre judge others?
Hey does this guy have some lessons for beginning lap steel players? I played standard 6 string guitars for many years, bought an old lap steel from the 1940's, and want to learn how to tune and play it.
The E-bow is one that was designed for the steel made in early 80's I believe. They do not make them anymore. I put a couple a weights under the battery to keep it on the strings by itself.
You are absolutely correct Albert about your E-Bow; that is no longer being made. Here is the story" In the spring of '77 Buddy Emmons bought two of the original standard guitar E-Bows in the NAMM show in Atlanta. Later in the fall, Buddy drove a thousand SG players crazy; when he introduced the E-Bow sound in St-louis Steel Guitar Convention; as he used it on "Mansion on the Hill" and "Once upon a time in the West". Since I was with Buddy when he bought it, I was as proud as a peacock. The audience went crazy; because they had NEVER heard those awesome tones exuding from the E-Bow. Now listen to him do it in the two songs. See if you can tell when he uses the E-Bow in the links below: ruclips.net/video/PfKlJawUbvI/видео.html ruclips.net/video/F7MZmHjVMq0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/2GFrFfsf34A/видео.html ruclips.net/video/vXdPDrCXMdg/видео.html Note: That was what caused the E-Bow manufacturer to make another one (like you have) especially for the Steel Guitar. May Jesus rest Buddy Emmons' soul. And may he continue to bless Albert; an incredible Steel Guitar player.
This melody is actually "Greensleeves", a love song attributed to Henry VIII. "What Child Is This" may have been set to this melody later of course. Nice use of the e-Bow though, Albert.
Hi gosteelman... I know that this reply is 9 years since your post but they are making them again...I purchased mine about 1 month ago [in Perth Western Australia]...loved your playing by the way.
Beautiful Albert. Many Blessings to you and Lisa.

Nicely done and very clever combining the chords with the melody.
Great demo of the beauty of the much-missed steel guitar Ebow! Thanks for coming up with this lovely arrangement, Albert.
Love the use of the
chords and e bow single string together!

Ok. I was wondering how you kept it active w/o holding it.It can take more finesse than people realize, at least w/ my Sound Stone e - bow knock off.

I was thinking the same, great playing none the less.
wasnt greensleeves written to mock one of his wifes for having extra finger nubs on her hands which she hid with long green sleeves
I knew I recognised it!
I thought so!
