Good evening ladies and gentlemen! In this video, I decided to go through every change I could find in the Zombies game-mode from Cold War's pre-alpha to now. Let me know if I missed anything, or if you have any questions. I'll do my best to respond to everyone!

Hope you guys enjoyed. MP video next, probably sometime in the upcoming weeks!
I don’t know how this video popped off overnight, thanks to anyone coming to check this video out! Just so y’all know I didn’t play BO4 so I don’t know what stuff is reused from that game - sorry!!
Anyways, MP video coming within hopefully the next two weeks. Was on vacation in Europe and my final semester of college starts next week, so I’m trying my best to put it together before the end of January!
If I am correct, I believe Lex may have reacted to it live on stream as I did see a post earlier that he would be watching some leaked prealpha gameplay of cold war Zombies. Maybe it is that, but I am unsure ahaha
Where can i get a download link of this build?
You got your 300th sub
Wheres the DLL Link?
i got his on my home page
The version of Damned playing on the main menu is actually Damned 4 from BO4. It was most likely a place holder until they finished composing and recording the version that’s in the final hame
Would've been pretty sick if they had actually used the OG round transition sound effect for Die Maschine
Also, beta Dark Aether looks *way* better
Yeah but mastery camos didn’t work properly for like a solid 3 months
that skybox looks so cool, especially with the flashing lights. no clue why they changed it to thick purple fog
Beta dark aether is better , fact
@@C..J maybe they changed the skybox because they didn't want to reflect the beauty of the dark aether, but rather how mysterious and paranormal that place was, especially when you listen to the radios where they make you see that place as hell I don't know my idea
@@chris9242 lol I was talking about the dark aether on the map, not the camo
The BO1 sound effects are probably used as a base template since Black Ops engine was built specifically to run zombies. After they made Der Riese they pretty much set a formula and BO1 I guess carries over that formula.
Yeah, I’m certain that none of the BO1 music was ever gonna “make a return.” I’m sure that it’s all being used as placeholder music, just so they can indicate when and where music will be played. Same with the BO4 menus. Fun fact: if you go to a local lobby in BOCW multiplayer, part of the menu is actually from the BO4 menu!
I would love it in the final game
They made a completely new Treyarch engine for BO4. This runs off that engine; not the same as anything from BO3 or before
@@captainkaboom5516 but that new engine they have probably can download the BO1 formula ad an asset
@@captainkaboom5516 amd now all future games will use the MW2019 engine
Ok, the Pre-Alpha Dark Aether sky box looks way cooler than the final version. Gives it more of a galaxy/ space vibe. But I understand why they went with the final version, the Dark Aether is supposed to be exactly that…. A dark, corrupted, twisted version of reality.
Well they brought back to MW3 Zombies
@@forestforce2951I love the dark aether in MWZ it looks soo good
Having custom rules would’ve made out real amazing
The Dark Aether's Alpha Skybox looks pretty. I probably would've ended up gazing at it at least once per each game session.
Literally doing god's work by documenting the build like this.
A lot of the Stuff from this build are still in the game just not accessible, One to think of is the Custom Mutations menu from BO4 but In CW zombies and you can access it using a glitch. Also that Deadshot with 100% no spread would've been fun/nice to have.
The perks look like they had fixed prices instead of the price increase after every perk bought we have now
4:39 that looked like tac sprint for a second i was confused af.
The position of the Stamin-up perk machine actually looks better in this version than the final version. It just looks more rewarding to see it sitting there, instead of the dark empty corner of the room. It reminds me of the vibrant BO3 color schemes.
It also reminds me of a little interview I watched of Jason Blundell talking about how he uses dynamic lighting to make certain areas of zombies maps look more interesting. Like if he wanted players to go a certain direction in a map, he would light up a certain area in very interesting ways. This trick is definitely lacking in BOCW zombies. The perk machines are all stuffed in weird areas, the pack-a-punch doesn’t stand out anymore, and the lighting on most of the maps are just very repetitive and too similar to each other.
this is because all maps besides Die Maschine were campaign levels re-tooled into zombie maps (even Die Maschine isn't 100% original since it uses Nacht as a base)
most of the lighting on Firebase/Mauer/Forsaken is exactly the same as campaign, very few areas were re-touched for the zombie versions. shame.
Totally disagree
it looks extremely out of place. I thought it was just there to test the functionality and not yet placed in a better spot
@@avery6152 it’s too big for that hallway
I disagree that Stamin-Up looks better there, but I agree on a lot of other stuff you said. I play a game when it comes to the Zombies maps' layouts regarding things like perks, mystery box locations, and even Gobblegum machines. I call it "Plopped or Placed." When a perk machine is 'placed', it looks like a well thought out spot and it fits in without looking out of place and feels like it's a reasonable distance away from other perk machines. 'Plopped' is when a perk machine looks haphazardly put in without fitting in and it looks like an afterthought with it sometimes being a design choice (ie Nuketown or Zetsubou parachutes). With that being said, Cold War has MAJOR ploppage going on. Forsaken is the worst case 🤮🤮
The Damned theme in the beginning is from BO4, not BO1.
They haven’t finished the main theme for BOCWZ yet so they kept in the last one for now.
A lot of the game mode stuff is leftovers from BO4 and they were most likely undecided what of it was gonna return or not.
Disclaimer: I write this for posterity and anyone who may read it and build off what you've said, not just to reply to you.
So many of the elements were left over from BO4 cause they built this game off of it, at least the zombies afaik. In the alpha the full power and bonus points were the bo4 announcer, along with the graphic that pops up for max ammo, along with the bowie knife (to this day) being from BO4. Rush and Gauntlet were also from BO4.
wow this is amazing, thank you for documenting this
Very interesting! Looking forward to the next video!
Wow awesome video. Really cool to see all of these differences tbh
Interesting more people are getting the know-how to load this. If you want something interesting to document, there’s a lot of unused maxis dialogue if you force load the ural map (can’t remember exact file name) which sort of shows they were toying with the narrative as late as June at least in the build I have.
It's really hilarious how they just fly you into a kill barrier for the exfil 😂
Incredible stuff!!!! 👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥
EVerything in this video is dope asf! The beta menu music was simply placeholder from black ops 4 as they use this version of damned there, tbf most of the sound effects are placeholder from the previous aether zombies.
that dark aether sky looks beautiful
While i love seeing this, man is it crazy they got the whole package together in the short time that they had. So many things were added and moved around, i wouldn't be surprised if in the day one update they added some UI elements with how quick it was put together. Very glad to see this though and it makes me appreciate the game more.
That’s because the game runs on BO4’s engine. Able to port a lot of stuff
Even crazier considering everyone was at home during this time due to the pandemic
6:30 *WOW* just wow... This looks _so much better_ than what's in the game now, perhaps you could've done a simple side Easter Egg to have had this Skybox for the remainder of the game or you're permanently inside the Dark Aether with this skybox and and go back with everyone voting to do so or something... This is simply breathtaking, like going to _Sovngarde_ in Skyrim the first time and just looking up
10:30 Seeing that _5th Place makes you think that with the next title we could have more than just _*_4 player's_*_ maybe Outbreak 2.0 could perhaps let us even do _*__8 player's_* given if the PS4 and Xbox One versions could handle an _8 Player_ Outbreak Mode tho that might be current gen exclusive along with PC of course.
During the _2 Year's_ Treyarch has for the next Call of Duty Title as we get a break with *MllW*
*_we can only hope_* the Zombie's is a more fleshed out enough experience to have some or all these modes..
Probably not but there's always that..
*_What if?_*
2:59 the demonic announcer is Samantha from BO4
wish they had settings options like annoucer changing and customizable hud, just convenient settings for those looking for it.
Honestly, I wouldn’t have minded at all, if Die Maschine (particularly because it was the first map of BOCW), had the same Round Change and Round Starting theme to previous games. Just from how it is viewed here, it’s a hit for me. Dunno if others agree, but I like it, not cuz of blinded by nostalgia crap like that, but cuz it actually suits it well, being Nacht Der Untoten slightly reimagined.
Yea I at least wish they had some kind of option or side easter egg to have the original round change music, it fits well with the map
I still can't believe that one leak back in 2020 is from this build lol
I remember the first time playing Cold War alpha I had to borrow a friends ps4 to play the alpha and first time loading into a multiplayer match I heard the clinks of a Grenade bouncing around which had the same sfx from waw, bo1, bo2 and bo3
you can play outbreak in the pre alpha btw, game crash because you need to select the warzone map from mp then switch to zombie and outbreak, all "map" are playable except armada and collateral
In the HUD, right above the perk icons on the right side there are two counters. It looks like the bottom one is points and the top one is salvage. I guess originally there was only one kind of salvage instead of the common and rare tiers in the final game.
I've also always thought it was weird how the game only told you how much salvage you had on the scoreboard, so many times I'd just guess if I had enough to upgrade my armor.
The PAP prices really should have been kept. The biggest problem with the BO4 perks system is that you couldn't alter your perks in game so you were forced to play one specific way. CW recreated this problem just with guns. You can only really use one gun for the whole game because it costs 50k to upgrade it to max potential
It’s nice seeing “Colt Commando” and “SPAS-12” instead of something generic.
one year late but it’s really cool to me that aether shroud’s old logo was actually just in plain sight
i also kind of wish they gave us the choice to use the old round theme from waw to bo1. i know that the new one sounds really nice, but sometimes i just miss the old ones (especially for dog rounds)
it’s interesting to see the 5 player screen at the end. i’m curious as to why that would’ve been there
That menu music was from BO4
Damned was carried from BO1 to BO2 and remastered, BO3 and changed a bit, then to BO4 after the story was more centralized on the Aether maps instead of the Chaos maps
It’s funny how the pack a punch cost was cheaper and the placeholder image was the BO4 talisman that made pack a punch cost less
Feels funny to see the BO4 max ammo pick up leftover
This is super cool. I just wanted to post this in case anyone cared, but I remember having access to leaked BO3 Zombies content when the PC beta dropped. I met some guy online who leaked a ton of files and told me about Nightmares mode before the game came out. I still have some of the files. Most of the stuff is still the same, but the version of the Widows Wine theme from the beta had male singers instead of female.
Do you think you'd be able to compile all of the things into a video? That alternate version of widows wine sounds super interesting.
bruh I loved the gauntlet game mode... wish they brought that back
Bro, the way the characters runs with his Gun on the Alpha version is so much better than what we got.
It's almost like a Tactical sprint animation, i would love to have that running animation compared to what we got
the menu music was a placeholder as this was the same theme they used for BO4 post-chaos, still in that game for accurate comparisons 👍
I know they were probably just placeholders but man does the old round start/change jingle sound good, I wish they kept it
Hmm there are things that i like from both final version and old a fusion of both would be the perfect cold war
Thats cool
This was very interesting 🗣️🗣️
Pretty much things like the menu and sound effects from the pre-alpha are just there to test, I don't think they were there because they were thinking to add them, proof of that is when he gets the max ammo and appears the message from bo4
This is lit
Do you think you'd be able to point me in the direction of where you got this? I would love to try this out for myself but I can't seem to find any downloads or even anybody talking about this leak at all
the bonus points announcer sounds more like willard wyler from infinite warfare zombies.
I really wish they would’ve implemented a side easter egg where you could have the original round change music or annoucners in this map at least. It fits pretty well and makes sense since this map has nacht in it
Kinda like how you can play zombies music from WaW-BO3 in nacht on Revelations
Its actually the bo4 damned version, i think they just used their most recent file
The original round base sound and the end game screaming should’ve been in the game brings back the class times on the map FIVE
Honestly some of this looks better that the actual game now
So much stuff I’m assuming wasn’t added mostly due to time constraints. I love cold war a lot, second favorite zombies (maybe tied at first), and with the huge amount of time they have before their next game I can only hope they’ll add some of these ideas, flesh out ones seen in cold war, and add even more. super excited, great video! :)
Do you have any footage of the blackout 2 map
It’s interesting that they almost kept the weapon walking animations the same as BO3 and BO4’s! I always thought it looks SUPER clunky how the guns always go down to the bottom of the screen and shakes violently around the screen when you walk in the full game. It’s clear that they added those animations to rival MW19’s animations.
i would've really liked those animations instead of what we got
Great video axe-eeee-o (what kind of a name is that)
Where can I get this from? This looks very interesting to play around with.
I was a bit confused where the customization and stuff from BO4 went, it seems they got crunched for time and had to remove it :c
Bo6 making changes to the hud and bo4 having the cartoon mode, I’d actually kinda like the option of changing the round change music to the og if I wanted to, just a nice random option
Hey trying to download the build right now, having issues but hopefully will fix (classic error when starting up) but i was wondering if you can upgrade aether shroud and all those abilities, and if they even work in this version
I'm starting yo miss bo3 and bo4 now
I've said this in a different video but I wonder if one day we'll get to see SG's Cold War game before Treyarch took over. It would be interesting to see
I wish they kept this version of Deadshot. Would have made the perk worth taking in something like the 4 perk limit
At the 8:51 I noticed the person showing the Alpha build had 5 perks but was curious on that
During 7:34 and beyond, the cost of each Perk is different and doesn't follow suite with an additional 500 each time
Already had Jug, Stamin-up was 2k, Elemental Pop was 1k, Quick Revive was 2k, Speed Cola was 3k, Deadshot Daiquiri was 1.5k
Not to mention followed by "(Base)" after each perk, curious on if you could rebuy a perk to have it add up, very curious and thinking of ideas
Yes, I know that it sounds like a strange idea, but theorizing means that nothing is impossible, and theories aren't always correct, just leads to ideas
Why does the pre alpha look like it feels so much better than the final game
I mean like the *some* of the animations and what not
Like seriously the bo3/bo4 walking and running animations look so much better than what we got
I need to know what TCM was gonna be cause I feel like it was gonna be some new form of grief or competitive mode from it very much sounding like a zombies spin on TDM
Do you think your able to get into the Ural Mountains Cut Cold War Blackout BR map and run around and see how every POI it'll look like in First Person or even Pre alpha Outbreak
Will be appreciated
@@smashliteralbeams5056 i’ve already started compiling clips for this! thanks for asking
@@axiogodALTwill be looking forward to it felt like Blackout deserved a second chance
@@smashliteralbeams5056 black out sucked
I do believe they had said we would have custom game rules but never got it
I bet that the Skybox was changed because knowing how ambitious 3arc can be, the skybox had to render a shit ton of particles in-game, causing optimization problems so they decided to use a more static skybox.
No, the announcer for Bonus Points and Full Power is still Samantha, you can tell it’s her
I like that dark aether way more
thats the bo4 damned ost
Old skybox would’ve hit so hard especially if you could go into the Dark Aether on the other maps
They should allow you to pick the og bo1 zombies stuff In The future if you don't like the new sounds zombies screams, rounds change and voice pick ups in the next cod
Oh my god, if the waw/bo1 round change sounds were in at launch I would have lost my shit
2:33 is that willard wyler announcing? from IW
That’s bo4 damned that was added months later
Hmm thats interesting. The game over audio is the same from moons game over audio
They didn’t add a he rampage thing till later
I dunno why but I like this way more then the current map
the dark aether sky box was way better than now
Hooe this guy doesn't get the prototype preservation treatment
I actually find this dark aether more beautiful
Hey so I have this exact build and I'm currently trying to get into it. I keep getting fatal errors and was wondering if you were as well and if so how did you get around them
hey, you got a link where you got it from? cant find it myself
The OG announcer 😢🌹
This is very cool to look at, but it’s sad to see how much stuff was “done” in pre-alpha that was held back at launch for dripfeeding.
Where can we get our hands on this build?
Just curious, is there a way to get to the alpha version of cold war on PC and if so, how?
A lot of the stuff in the start seems like leftovers from bo4. Example: The Damned theme is actually just the BO4 damned. And Gauntlet and Rush and such are all gamemodes from BO4 as well.
damn, it sad to see that alot of the great features from bo4 were planned, but never added. wouldve killed for gauntlets to come back.
this literally looks better then what we got😭
The Dark Aether looked so much better
Es un mod para cold war, o es un mod para otro juego de cod zombies?
The menu music is actually BO4s music
In case this gets taken down, can we download and reupload these, if we credit you?
totally! i have a light watermark on all of the clips either way so whether its reuploaded with or without my permission my credit will be there :)
I don't think damned was making a return, I'm pretty sure they use it as placeholder. Same thing for BO4
Don't they already have a version of damned from launch with this game tho lol
That dammed theme is just the same theme from bo4 I believe
is this available for download?
Honestly this version kinda looks way better, especially with all the older sounds, the dark aether looks better. I kinda prefer it more
Man, if only we could have used our points to buy armor instead of the whole scrap mechanic existing.
It wasn't the worst idea they came up with, but it's tedious as hell
