Red is near necessary when in the woods or out at night with stationary tasks. Absolutely great for fishing! No bugs swarming your face while baiting your line or checking your immediate area. Plus retains your night vision.

Never thought about using a red light when night fishing. Thank you for the tip. I always started a small fire when fishing. My first fish I like to eat it right there fresh out the water. The red light sounds like the ticket when I'm away from the fire because those mosquitoes do come out around the the light I can breath them in some time's it's so thick.

I ran this lamp for about 6 months during a cold/soaking wet winter night-tide season here in the pacific north west working for a shellfish farm. From my experience this lamp exceeded my expectations. Ran it for 4-6hrs (low beam: 50 lumens) non stop every night and its been submerged multiple times in the saltwater from the puget sound(2-3ft deep). Never submerged it for 30min @6.5ft but the fact that it survived the constant exposure to rain, dirt/mud, sand and occasional saltwater plunge makes the price of this lamp easily justifiable for anyone working in the rougher fields of work. Its also worth noting that the battery held up very well even during sub-freezing temps, though the lamp will get very warm from long continuous run times. Not burning hot but for some it might be uncomfortable however when wearing it you wont notice the heat, its only when handling it like taking it off to swap batteries is when it would be noticeable but all lights generate heat so its to be expected and it didnt have an affect on usability.

This is by no means a new headlamp. I work as a cave guide and have used this light as my main light almost every day for two years, it has been muddy and wet MANY times and still keeps going. It has been very reliable, lasts a long time, has a great beam distance and brightness. I would recommend the top strap though as it is a bit heavy.

Own it and love it. The red lamp is good out to 8 feet which is great for camping around the camp site which keeps the bugs away. The throw and range on the white light settings are amazing. This is a great headlamp. Easily the best I have ever used and well worth the money. Thanks for the review Chris. Love your channel!

I am digging the 5 lumen mode. I like to read at night but I have found as I get older sometimes the 1 lumen strains my eyes. It's fine for a short time but if I am going to read for awhile I prefer more light. This 5 lumen setting sounds perfect bright enough for comfortable ling term reading without draining the battery to much.

Most definitely flashlight time! I was trying to use my little $8. 1 AAA battery flashlight and I had to tap it to turn it back on.
I had it for about 5-4 year's now carried it everyday on my chair dust, dirt, water, mist, heat from the sun, tried and true that's why I don't think it's the battery. I was watching Cutlerylover and he was showing one that had the everything I need to be in a flashlight stand on a table. It has a magnet at the end of it can't see ever needing that.

There are lighter headlamps but they don't have same run time. Its great for a 9 mile backpack trip in the dark on steep mountain trails. But mostly you can go out 3 to 5 nights and not need spare batteries. At 900 lumen s its great for playing around with.

I liked those headlamps a lot, but they have had so many qc issues lately that they aren't really worth looking at right now. I'm leaning more towards something like this and custom making filters for it

I like Fenix but I have issues with their usb rubber plug on the ports. I have the UC35 and it doesn’t stay in whatsoever.

    • @darkmaer
      @darkmaer 5 лет назад

I agree with the uc35. I ripped mine off. Though I will say they fixed it with the pd36r. It's rubber cover is great. It has rubber that actually goes into the port along with the little latch which the latch seems to be better then uc35’s still.
I grabbed the hl60r and it seems to be good from just purchasing it. In fact u find it hard to open the the port cover. So I'd rather have it hard to open then have it easily flop open whenever.
But I feel you with then uc35.

I find I change the angle on my head lamps A LOT. I hear the clicking in this video as the angle is changed. Do those 'clicks' wear out? Has anyone found that the angle changes inadvertently after changing the angle many many times?

Thank you for the review. The easiest solution I've found for opposite button programming is a ten dollar Nite Ize Headband Flashlight Holder and a second single AA flashlight with the same buttons. A couple pebbles in the elastic adds some angle adjustability. WcWm

Really they have many many diffrent type of head lamps. Take your time in buying one make shire you get one you feel most comfortable with.
My first head lamp I bought a cheapie like one of those old boy scout yellow headlamp that was just a wast of money. They have the type that are really small but give off a lot of light the bike rider's use it for riding at night. The technology they have now day's.

Keen gear. Thanks for reviewing. But if you liked the fenix, then check out the Acebeam H30. The H30 is 4000 freaking Lumens on turbo-max combined with a highly usable bright red light mode.
