    Don't really care that "investors" cannot get more product. Players need more product not an unlimited supply but more than what was printed.

      People are speculating that the print run for Beta was somewhere in the very large range of 60k - 100k boxes. So at the low end double the amount of alpha and on the high end almost 4× the amount of alpha. It's very easy in hindsight to go back and say what should or should not have happened but I'd say that anywhere in this speculated range was a healthy estimate at the time the decision to print beta was made.

    For most people cardboard isn’t life. Once a year release is great. The game is fun, has great art, and it’s collectible. Just wait until AL and buy it if you missed out. A games second set is always great. 6 months isn’t that long. Also, Team Covenant still has starters on sale for new players. The worst thing for this game is the game piece mentality.

  • @MrAdamJoel
    @MrAdamJoel 7 месяцев назад +5

    We want demand. At a certain point having increased supply doesn’t turn into new players and it’s just the same buyers/sellers trading with one another. On to the next set. I am thankful this product is nothing like MTG with its releases and runs. Buyers should be rewarded for being early adopters, not penalized by the manufacturer printing more supply.
    Great content. I ordered the 4 way mat! Great idea!

      Bloomburrow has major hype and Pokemon is exploding. You can frame it all you want, but most people don't have your mindset and won't drop a TCG they've enjoyed for 10 to 20 years for sorcery. For most people, tcgs are a hobby. Not a once a year buyout.

    This is not a game for game stores or players. That was just a secondary plan to achieve what just happened, the emptying of the market. You will have no product for 7 months, then the new set will sell out instantly, then you will not have product for 13 months.

    I'm absolutely LOVING sorcery and I'm extremely happy that Erik and the SCR crew recognize that crushing the collector/investor segment is a really bad idea for a CCG.
    Totally fine for a normal game like Dominion or Monopoly etc. But if you want to sell "rare" and "collectible" cards in randomized boosters at $4 per pack... you NEED to honor the implicit promise of keeping them rare.

    I thought all the "contingent product' you reference in this video was already distributed to Canada and EU? My understanding was that's where the very limited product that hit the market in those areas in February came from. the timing of Simon's comments on the Discord and the timing of the product distribution in Canada/EU coincided perfectly. I'm not sure there is any more Beta anywhere other than Alpha Investments.

    this is the exact problem that drove a ton of people away from mtg.. people caring to much about price/value. if the game isnt affordable and easy to enter people are going to avoid it. its all great right now for the few people who got in early but its never going to attract new players. lorcana was the same way. to many "flippers/resellers" drove the prices up and its really limited its growth. yes those people play and the game is alive.. but it could have been massive and had triple or more players instead of just whales. the best card in any given mtg game should never cost more than idk $5.. its freaking cardboard and a game piece.

      Other than Lorcana I don't see the 'hot new' TCGs like One Piece, Star Wars, etc lasting. Sorcery I do think will last. The reason why is that those TCGs attract a lot of attention fast with their IP but then overtime people grow bored of the product or the company goes for a cash grab and tanks the market. Bandai and Fantasy Flight Games are very well known for that.
      Sorcery on the other hand is building grass roots highly dedicated players slowly and organically. Yeah it isn't going to happen fast, but the game is the best TCG I have played. Period. Between art quality, gameplay, community, etc, everything is 10/10 IMHO. Slow and steady wins the race.

      As of about a month ago, they said directly (on the official Discord) that they had no plans currently to print more Beta. Let's just take for the sake of the argument that they decided today to do a slightly smaller print run of Beta because TC ran out (unlikely they would even care about TC running out in order to make a decisions, but let's run with it), it would probably take 2 months to print/pack, and another 1-2 months to ship and hit distribution. We're talking, late-July, or August, at best based on the absolute best turnaround times. They also have to take into consideration the printing of AL in order to hit shelves in 4Q, like they are planning. Based on the historical timeline of the Beta print and distribution (which estimated to have started printing in June 2023 and no worldwide street date until NOVEMBER 2023) they have to basically start printing Beta today and probably not turn off the printers for AL until summer.
      TLDR, I'd wager that there is no Beta reprint until after AL, and at that point it's probably not "Beta" and instead a different product (Unlimited, Revised, whatever you want to call it)
