MechWarrior Online is a free-to-play vehicular combat video game, officially launched during September 2013 by Piranha Games for Microsoft Windows. The game takes place within the larger #BattleTech universe. In MechWarrior: Online, players takes the role of aMechWarrior who pilots large bipedal combat vehicles known as BattleMechs (Mech for short). Players can customize their BattleMech with an array of weapons and equipment, and engage in 12 versus 12 battles, the outcome of which earns the players experience and c-bills for future BattleMech purchases and customization. There are currently seven game modes that involve protecting and attacking a single base (Assault), capturing and holding several points (Conquest), take and hold the center of the map (Domination), attacking a space defense system (Siege/Counter-Attack), protecting and attacking field bases with turrets and walls spread across the map (Incursion), and team death-match (Skirmish)."

Lights are VERY different in MWO than they used to be. They used to require players to be a lot more careful around heavier mechs. They were great at their intended roles, and were often crucial, but that didn't get rewarded. So, starting with the Piranha, PGI made them tanky boats. Now they can face-time assaults.
They are busted because all that matters is damage. Light mechs are meant to be scouts but m w o does not give points for utility roles only damage done in the battle. So light have to be able to fight that is why they are tanks. Up the scoring for doing stuff like a m s , narc, tags , and such then reduce the tank. I ran a raven Utility for a month and it murdered my rating.

Ive been trying to come up with a build that isnt just medium pulse lasers on that urbie. Might give this a try.
This is the only 'Mech that's ever made me quit mid-game before. High-mounted snubs with tons of armour, speed and jump jets. My team left me behind on Canyon Network and I knew there was literally nothing I could even do against this thing. I had 60 tons on it or something but I was basically helpless. It could pop out literally anywhere and do all of its damage within a fraction of a second, long before my 'Mech's torso could turn to hit it. Maybe if I had really strong arm-mounted weapons I could have gotten lucky, but it was not meant to be.
What might be an interesting idea to try and deal with lights and big energy weapons is to link recharge time to engine size.

Go tell them on the MWO forum that lights are busted so they can tell you to 'git gud'.
It's the standard reply because addressing the issue is hard, almost as hard as giving up their toys.

Light mechs are broken in MWO.
I don't play them but decided to the other day.
The map was alpine and conquest. I scouted and capped points. I did no damage.
My matchscore was three...
