I live on top of a mountain with no light pollution and some nights you can just barely see milky way bands..if that is the right term lol it is truly amazing
Think of it more of like looking through a cloud llit by the city lights vs being in a light polluted area or not. Example, I live near the beach in a heavily populated area. Now when I look at the sky over the city I can't see anything except the brightest stars. But If I look out to the beach over the ocean where there are no lights I can see everything. Now If I move far from the beach to the otherside of the city and try to see the stars over the beach looking through the sky over the city then it will be hard to spot anything. So, if you're on the mountains where there isn't light pollution then your target also should be over an area without light pollution. So, for you straight up is the best area as there is nothing to prevent you from seeing
I literally started crying during this video, the fact I may never see this night sky in my entire life because of the way society is, really gets deep into my feelings.
In Florida you can go to Flamingo camp ground on a clear night in winter and have incredible night sky, or desert in the west. If you look on a night map of earth you can find the spots with no light polution.
We camped out on the rim of the Grand Canyon the night before hiking down. It was the most majestic sky I’ve ever seen. Meteor showers and the twinkling of all the stars. That was 40 years ago and I remember it so clearly !
You can already see Andromeda galaxy with your own eyes right now on a very clear night with no light pollution plus Andromeda Galaxy is already touching Milky Way galaxy
Back in 1999, I was on the USS Boxer LHD4; somewhere between Hawaii and Iwo Jima. We had night flight ops going, so the only lights outside the ship were IR, and it was a new moon. There was ZERO light polution! It was so dark, you couldn't see your own hand in front of your face. It was hard to point out a spot WITHOUT a star. I pray i get to see the night sky like that again some day.

The fact that the Andromeda galaxy is so close to us that we can see it already is terrifying because that means that it really is going to collide with our galaxy
@@soyjakchud oh there will def be some collisions after all the gravity fucks up, we already have planets colliding in our own solar system (how moons are formed) so when the density of celestial bodies increases that much, it's inevitable
One of my favorite memories is driving out into the desert at night and seeing the Milky Way band stretching across the whole sky... completely stole my breath away. And thought there were a whole lot of stars. But when I looked with my binoculars, there were hundreds of stars BETWEEN all those stars. It's enough to make you feel like you're rising right off the sand.
Years ago when I was around 5 years old in london there were millions of stars✨ but now I don’t even see them anymore I remember seeing this it was amazing it really shows how much damage humans have done to this planet
It's humbling. The very first time I had a real good view of our night's sky, I saw the most glorious backdrop for the greatest story ever told; and it felt like I was in the very first library for the entire history of mankind.
Omg, I need to see that for two reasons. One: I'm obsessed with astronomy. Two: I have always wanted to see so many stars. Also was this in the northern or southern hemisphere, in summer or winter?
Northern Hemisphere, you can very easily recognize Perseus, Taurus and Andromeda which are all northern constellations. As for time it depends. Judging from the position of the Pleiades and Ahlpa Persei clusters, this is looking eastward and the constellations shown are rising. If this takes place just after sunset, then its in October. If its just before dawn, then its June/July, so the range would be roughly June to October
My wife and l were camping up north in Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada and as we looked up at the many, many stars, she commented on a cloud "obscuring" part of the sky. Turns out l had to tell her she was seeing the Milky Way for the first time. It blew get mind! Zero light pollution for the first time for her.
I from NYC, born and raised in Greenwich village and the only time I got to see all the stars was at the Hayden planetarium when I was a kid. Joined the Marine Corps in 1987 and in 1989, was stationed at 29 Palms California. First time I got to stand in the Mojave and see the night sky was breath taking. Not to take anything away from the good people and the technology of the Hayden planetarium but there’s just no way to capture the realty. Great video , great memory ! Thanks for it ! 🤙🏻👊🏻
Look at the night sky in the California desert (NTC) while wearing night vision goggles. It’s this sky x100. Stars take up every part of the sky. It’s beautiful
I found a great pair of night vision binoculars at a local second hand store, I use them mostly to observe the sky, it's awesome how much one can see! 👋🇨🇦
the andromeda galaxy will collide with our milky way galaxy and then we will be called milkdromeda and seeing it with our naked eyes is pretty terrifying
Its crazy to think that we are SO far from that galaxy yet we can see it with the naked eye. That tells us truly how big planets, stars, galaxies and black holes actually are!
Me and my friends just did a road trip to California (we are Canadians) and on the drive home we camped at Stone Lagoon in Oregon for a night. Think it was a Bortle 2 zone, something that has always a bucket list thing for me, to be somewhere as dark as it was. I don't think I will ever forget it. I still remember when me and my buddy laid on the sand on the beach and closed our eyes to let them adjust, only to open them and be able to see what felt like the whole universe. Being able to see Andromeda with my own eyes was an experience I cant even put into words. If you ever get a chance to be somewhere this dark, take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the stars.
When I was in the army doing training to be a truck driver. One of the classes was at night to train on what's called blackout driving. No lights and all you have on is night vision goggle. I remember when I put it on and looked up at the night sky the whole sky was covered in glitter! It was the most amazing sight and I realized how little of the stars we see in the night sky. It was truly breathtaking
I go camping in this valley about 50 miles south of my city, and when I'm there at the campground, if I turn my light off and look up, I can actually see the "dust" shape of the Milky Way. Even with my myopia and my old ass glasses lol. It's so wild to see with the naked eye and know that I'm looking through the arms of a galaxy, sometimes looking towards a supermassive black hole depending on what orientation, I suppose. So weird...
Funfact: there's a balinese tradition called "nyepi", you arent allowed to do any activities outside of your house AND you arent allowed to turn on/use any light resources in your own house for the whole day, nyepi is like new year for the balinese because we used the caka calendar (even tho we also used the gregorian calendar)
this is why we need to stop light pollution! my town has soo much light pollution that we barely see 1 star per night, and when its a 'clear' sky, we can only see about 10 stars.
I have been inspired by the stars since i was a kid but what i hate in our home town is there is so many light pollution you have to go to the other side because there is no light pollution
i live right next to louisville international airport, i remember as a child, my friend who was staying overnight asked "hey...why does it not get dark here?" "huh?" "i can still see the trees, why does it not get dark?" 😅. been to the grand canyon once, i can remember the awe i felt seeing so many tiny dots in the sky, usually i can only make out larger singular stars. when there's snow, the light reflecting off it lets u make out everything in the neighborhood as if it were almost day, its the most uncanny feeling
This is what the sky looks like in my country. The joy and peace i always felt looking at it was something so special. When i came to new york it was all gone bc the sky is dead here
My heart skipped a beat when I saw that galaxy, floating so majestically in outer space, so gracefully for us to admire and look at. Crazy.
dude... you actually barely saw it... the camera captures a fraction of it
Can’t wait for it to crash into the Milky Way in a few billions of years 😃😊
You can see it if you know where to look.
Because it isn't a sharp light but a fuzzy one look to the side a bit.
Actually you can see infinite galaxies at night but just that it'll be appearing as a star in the night sky
It's all amazing until it crashes into our galaxy
It is terrifying to now realize you can see the andromeda galaxy with your naked eyes considering it will collide with us
It won't collide with us for BILLIONS of years yet, and by then, humanity will have perished.
Oh also, we wouldn't feel anything if it collided with us tomorrow, there is more space than stars...
The HALO of Andromeda already collide with us and it more takes 5 million years to fully collide..

I start freaking out and whip out this video because if I can see that cluster of stars where I was at, I could also probably see the Andromeda galaxy and after some time, I SPOT ITTTTT. It wasn't as bright as I expected it to be but OHMYGOSHITWASSOAMAZING
Amazing you can see the andromeda disc at night, space is truly awesome

just get a cheap pair of binoculars and get away from the city.. theres so much to see
The fact that you can see a galaxy all the way through here it's just crazy. I would love to see this. Amazing
I live in an area of very high light pollution, so i definitely can't see the pleiades (seven sisters) or the Andromeda galaxy, however very recently I was going to bed and I was looking at the window and I saw a Meteor. It was kinda nice and I like it
i have quite alot of light pollution in our city but i can see few stars but if i look closer, i can see alot of stars
you’re lucky to see a meteor 😭

The fact that the Andromeda galaxy is so close to us that we can see it already is terrifying because that means that it really is going to collide with our galaxy
there is so much empty space thag no stars will collide, they will just pass through each other and merge
@@soyjakchud oh there will def be some collisions after all the gravity fucks up, we already have planets colliding in our own solar system (how moons are formed) so when the density of celestial bodies increases that much, it's inevitable
Why are you terrified? Billions of years before it collide and all of us are dead for sure
multiple dots we recognise as stars are galaxies just they are much farther away
No, not without a telescope or binoculars. Naked eye can only see Andromeda, and the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, besides our own galaxy.
Andromeda galaxy is going to collide with our milky way
Ik but it takes time to collide with it before our sun turns into a red giant
@@Cael2999Perefr people would be dead by now before that happens

4 billions year it will colide
Misinformation.
A Constellation, a shooting star and the Andromeda on one go. 🌠🌌☄️
Years ago when I was around 5 years old in london there were millions of stars✨ but now I don’t even see them anymore I remember seeing this it was amazing it really shows how much damage humans have done to this planet
On a clear, dark night, the human eye can only see about 6,000 stars. On average about 2,000. Not millions.
It's humbling. The very first time I had a real good view of our night's sky, I saw the most glorious backdrop for the greatest story ever told; and it felt like I was in the very first library for the entire history of mankind.
It's terrifying that you can literally see the andromeda galaxy with the naked eye😔
how is it terrifying? even if it collided more early then we would be fine

@@Prttham thanks
I'm 16, and I love space and how amazing it looks. One day, I want to go somewhere where I can see the stars like that.
Vast and awesome thank you I'm lucky I live in rural Wales
Omg, I need to see that for two reasons.
One: I'm obsessed with astronomy.
Two: I have always wanted to see so many stars.
Also was this in the northern or southern hemisphere, in summer or winter?
same 😭
Northern Hemisphere, you can very easily recognize Perseus, Taurus and Andromeda which are all northern constellations.
As for time it depends. Judging from the position of the Pleiades and Ahlpa Persei clusters, this is looking eastward and the constellations shown are rising. If this takes place just after sunset, then its in October. If its just before dawn, then its June/July, so the range would be roughly June to October
u are so lucky to see that
Edit: OMG I ACTUALLY NEVER GOT 3 LIKES TYSMM
Beautiful vision ❤❤❤
we need to make a pettition to the
"stellar day" a holyday witch everyone would turn their lights of at night to see the full nightsky.
Same here in BC, at the Merritt Star Party, a woman was disappointed because of the clouds covering the stars...🤣🤣🤣
Amazing!

So beautifull!
@@abelis644 that’s awesome!
the andromeda galaxy will collide with our milky way galaxy and then we will be called milkdromeda and seeing it with our naked eyes is pretty terrifying

Its so mind boggling. I just cant. Feels almost like we could drift right into out without a notice.
It’s beautiful
This just shows how far the human eye can see we can see galaxys Millons of light years away from us. This is just amazing and beautiful
Its amazing 😢
Night sky ✨💙is nice.
I want to see this.
Its crazy to think that we are SO far from that galaxy yet we can see it with the naked eye. That tells us truly how big planets, stars, galaxies and black holes actually are!
I saw the sky like this when I was driving through Arizona one night 🌃.
It was definitely something to remember.
I really want to see the open space seen from earth thats my dream😢😢 but there is so much pollution where i live😢
My favourite view ever in my life .i really like to see stars , planets, etc in space. This is my dream❤❤
When I was a child, i always tried to count the stars.
That memory!😊❤
I live in a town with only 300 people 30 miles each way to the nearest town. I'm definitely gifted to see this every night
this is why we need to stop light pollution! my town has soo much light pollution that we barely see 1 star per night, and when its a 'clear' sky, we can only see about 10 stars.
I like Star and is makes me happy and no panic and calms me😌😌
*Hey ! I had seen a Venus yesterday*
Where is this magical place🔮✨️
I have been inspired by the stars since i was a kid but what i hate in our home town is there is so many light pollution you have to go to the other side because there is no light pollution
whats even more amazing is that the camera was so low quality let it still capture how beautiful it still is
Seen it. Most of the population, living in cities, miss so much beauty.
i live right next to louisville international airport, i remember as a child, my friend who was staying overnight asked "hey...why does it not get dark here?" "huh?" "i can still see the trees, why does it not get dark?" 😅. been to the grand canyon once, i can remember the awe i felt seeing so many tiny dots in the sky, usually i can only make out larger singular stars. when there's snow, the light reflecting off it lets u make out everything in the neighborhood as if it were almost day, its the most uncanny feeling
Nakita ko din sa langit namin Ngayon 😊😊
So crazy! here in the uk the Seven Sisters shows pretty much directly above and andromeda is on the west I’d love to see the skies from the country
it looks so beautiful
I ALSO NEED MORE OF THESE NOW!
I don’t know if that galaxy can be seen even with zero light pollution but if it’s true it’s very heart touching mashaa Allah
This is what the sky looks like in my country. The joy and peace i always felt looking at it was something so special. When i came to new york it was all gone bc the sky is dead here
