The map sensor filter is so cheap it makes sense to simply replace it rather than bypass it. If yours is cracked and are waiting for your new one to get stocked or shipped, you can clean it with carb cleaner and temporarily seal the crack with silicone.
👌🏻
Do you know if other car manufacturers than Toyota have such filters before their map sensors? I don't find this in my local toyota dealer and I wonder which car brand use similar parts. Thank you.
Be VERY careful about the type of silicone sealant you use. If you don't use a sensor safe variety, you will destroy your AFR and O2 sensors because of the silicone that off-gasses while curing. It poisons the sensor elements of exhaust gas sensors and they won't respond to changes in oxygen content any longer.
You have saved me a lot of money with this video 3 mechanics they couldn’t find a problem and after watching your video I fix it myself
I'm very glad you found it helpful! Thanks for your support! 👌
Hey, will this hilux drive fast?
@@rajeshlalloo1755 yes it does
I use spray cleaner in map sensor and it works well @@DIYwithDeon
Hello, you risk to destroy your map sensor with dirt and carbon build up if you remove this filter?
What is the purpose of removing that filter? Is the SENSOR safe for that action.. what about the oil that push directly in that sensor??
The filter often cracks and leaks air. You use this as a temporary fix or leave it off. It is your choice. Mine is still off after 3 years and still fine.
It’s a map sensor filter if you leave it off start saving for a new turbo when it starts sounding like a police car siren on acceleration please don’t leave the filter off it needs replacing every 3 years unless it cracks and leaks oil
I wouldn’t say it’s a permanent fix. It may still work, but it will affect performance and also cause more wear and tear on your motor.
It’s like $70 or $80 for a new one man,
👌🏻
The filter has a purpose. You can use this tip just to figure out if the filter is clogged or leaking. Replace the filter and that's the proper way to do it. It's not wise to delete the filter from the system.
Thanks for your feedback! 👌🏻
Errrm I’m sure that filter is there to stop oil blocking up the sensor, fine for a test but sure it should not be bypassed !
That is indeed the purpose of the filter. Mine cracked about four years ago and I have not had any problems since I removed it back then. I got the idea when I saw other vehicles does not come with a filter before the MAP sensor. So I would suggest using own discretion. Thanks for your input and support! 👌
@@DIYwithDeonYeah but the vehicles that have an EGR need that filter because it puts exhaust gasses back into the intake. Those old models that you say dont have the filter, probably dont have an egr right? you are giving the wrong advice and making people clog their map sensors as a result...
@@minilux839 i have a triton, it doesnt have a filter before the map sensor whilst having an egr valve...
@@brakinglate8828 Very interesting. And no problems so far?
@@minilux839 no, I even had it tuned 2 years ago
A cheap motorcycle fuel filter can also do the trick
👌
i use it on my fortuner 😅
Bike Petrol filter are same...? .... kindly reply
No, bike petrol filters are not the same. 👌🏻
I have a 91 Corolla and was having problems with the map sensor I unplugged it and it runs but it does not accelerate , the problem stop and the car was running like a champ like for 2 years and now it’s doing it again
Replace your MAP sensor, your ecu cannot supply the correct fuelling with a faulty or unplugged one.
@@DIYwithDeon my brother have the same car and I try he’s map sensor on mine and still not working well and I try my map sensor on he’s car and he’s car run good I’m starting to think is as to do with the wiring but thank you for your responding 🙏🏻
can I do that sir on my toyota innova 2kd diesel engine 2010 model?
They work exactly the same, so yes it will have the same effect. 👌🏻
Hello guys
How can I have my 1kz run smoothly without consuming a lot of fuel?
It doesn't idle well either.
Those engines only need appropriate compression, and corrctly set diesel pump and injectors to run smoothly. I would start by adding diesel fuel line and injector cleaner in the fuel tank and checking the diesel pump timing. If it does not improve, you will have to get the dieselpump and injectors serviced. I hope this helps a bit.
why do they need the filter there beside stopping the map sensor clog up
👌
Hi Deon, what symptoms do you pick on the 1KD when the filter is cracked or clogged? What problem does bypassing it alleviate?
It loses power because it does not read the intake pressure. When you bypass the broken filter, the MAP sensor can read the pressure again. 👍
There is another looks like a filter, what is that call and the function?
That is also filter for the vacuum switching valve assembly. 👌
On a serious note. I couldnt remove the hoses. They are on super tight. Tips?
That often happens, twist them slightly with a pair of pliers👍🏻
Hello what happen is you do like that?…add more power to the engine?
Hi, no they often crack and leak, resulting in poor engine performance. This is just an easy fix.
And fill your map sensor with oil
Luckily mine is still fine after 5 years. But yes, this is to be done at own discretion.
Hey man is it possible to clean the map sensor? I bypassed my one and she ran sweet for 2 days .now its back in limp mode
Yes, you can clean it with air sensor cleaner. But you might need to look further for the cause of the problem.
Hello! I've got electronic fuel pump converted in to manual one in my 1kzT engine, may I remove map sensor?
Hi Rico, it should work fine without the map sensor, but I would check first if it does not have an effect on any other electronics if removed. When removed, take it for a test drive and see if the acceleration or warning lights are influenced. I hope this helps a bit. Thanks for your support! 👌
@@DIYwithDeon Thanks for your prompt reply, very mach appreciate!
May I ask why?
Here is a video with the most common reason. I hope it helps.

Dang that intercooler is dinged up
😅welcome to Africa, here that is still in good shape
Is there eny problem deleting the filter
On my vehicle, I have not had any problems so far. I guess it depends on the state of of your engine. Please use your own discretion when following this procedure. 👌🏻
HOW TO INNER COOLER 2KD PART NO
You can always fit a front mount cooler.
It will broke the map sensor shortly
Well mine have been running like this for a bit over 4 years now...
Hello. Year of your Prado ?
Hi, that one is a 2007 Hilux.
@@DIYwithDeon thanks for your fast answer mate. 🥂
Yo tengo una prado 97 1kz turbo intercooler y no acelera mas de 2000 rpm
Is this method safe
Hi Gary. The pupose of the filter is to keep majority oil out of the MAP sensor. They unfortunately don't like the heat of the engine and crack all too often. I removed mine about 5 years ago and it still functions very well. I would therefore say that it is safe. I hope this helps? Thanks for your support! 👌🏻
No not safe. I think Toyota engineers know more than this guy. Just buy a replacement filter if it cracks.
@@DIYwithDeon do you have test drive video with and without the filter
Filter cheap. Map sensor expensive. Good for emergency solution. Later buy new one filter before sensor clogged.
👌🏻
Do I need to disconnect the battery too? Because I took mine off without unplugging anything😂
Just for a clearer video
If the engineer put a filter between is for a reason that you don’t know… of course is to prevent damage on map sensor for oil vapors… but if you know more than the engineer go ahead…
Absolutely, they prevent oil from building up in the MAP sensor. The filter cracks quite easy and leaks air. So this is a usefull tip to be able to drive without issues to your destination where you can replace the filter. I drove mine for 3 years before putting a new filter in and it is still running fine. By all means this is done at own discretion. Thank you for your feedback, I do appreciate it. 👌🏻
Replace it. Afterall it's very cheap.
👌🏻
This is not solution
It is definitely the solution to a problem. How long you choose to wait before you want to replace the broken filter is up to you.
