    The map sensor filter is so cheap it makes sense to simply replace it rather than bypass it. If yours is cracked and are waiting for your new one to get stocked or shipped, you can clean it with carb cleaner and temporarily seal the crack with silicone.

      Do you know if other car manufacturers than Toyota have such filters before their map sensors? I don't find this in my local toyota dealer and I wonder which car brand use similar parts. Thank you.

    • @mannys9130
      @mannys9130 2 месяца назад

      Be VERY careful about the type of silicone sealant you use. If you don't use a sensor safe variety, you will destroy your AFR and O2 sensors because of the silicone that off-gasses while curing. It poisons the sensor elements of exhaust gas sensors and they won't respond to changes in oxygen content any longer.

      The filter often cracks and leaks air. You use this as a temporary fix or leave it off. It is your choice. Mine is still off after 3 years and still fine.

      It’s a map sensor filter if you leave it off start saving for a new turbo when it starts sounding like a police car siren on acceleration please don’t leave the filter off it needs replacing every 3 years unless it cracks and leaks oil

    I wouldn’t say it’s a permanent fix. It may still work, but it will affect performance and also cause more wear and tear on your motor.

    The filter has a purpose. You can use this tip just to figure out if the filter is clogged or leaking. Replace the filter and that's the proper way to do it. It's not wise to delete the filter from the system.

    • @DIYwithDeon
      @DIYwithDeon  Год назад +1

      Those engines only need appropriate compression, and corrctly set diesel pump and injectors to run smoothly. I would start by adding diesel fuel line and injector cleaner in the fuel tank and checking the diesel pump timing. If it does not improve, you will have to get the dieselpump and injectors serviced. I hope this helps a bit.

      It loses power because it does not read the intake pressure. When you bypass the broken filter, the MAP sensor can read the pressure again. 👍

      Hi Gary. The pupose of the filter is to keep majority oil out of the MAP sensor. They unfortunately don't like the heat of the engine and crack all too often. I removed mine about 5 years ago and it still functions very well. I would therefore say that it is safe. I hope this helps? Thanks for your support! 👌🏻

    • @DIYwithDeon
      @DIYwithDeon  Год назад +1

      Absolutely, they prevent oil from building up in the MAP sensor. The filter cracks quite easy and leaks air. So this is a usefull tip to be able to drive without issues to your destination where you can replace the filter. I drove mine for 3 years before putting a new filter in and it is still running fine. By all means this is done at own discretion. Thank you for your feedback, I do appreciate it. 👌🏻
