Nice martin! We need more of this tutorials covering in depth all these new tools!

Nice and a big thank you Martin! I agree with Eloi, we need more in-depth tutorials about new features. Based on the new feature announcement, I didn't realize this was as huge a deal as it is.

Thanks Martin. The chamfer modifier is really sweet now, can see a lot of hard work has gone into improving it over the last versions and it's really coming together. The inset loop is super good! Loving the new weighted normals modifier; there were scripts that did the roughly the same job (albeit with less control).... great to have it native as it's often an essential step when using chamfers.

Really excellent work on this, Martin. It's probably the best chamfer (or bevel in some apps) operation in the industry at this point.

Any news on double-precision floating point ever making its way into max? I know it's not "just a recompile," but it's a sorely needed feature for larger scenes that contain small details (i.e., multiple levels of detail).

In 3ds max, the chamfer at any setting, unfortunately, does not create an ideal circle along the radius of the chamfer. If you look very closely, you can see this problem. In other 3D programs, I have not seen a similar problem. If possible, please fix this problem.

Hey Aragorn, The Radius Bias should do what you want. If you make a acute angle, add the chamfer and set the radius bias to 1.0. If you then create a circle and align it to the center point of the chamfer, you should see they match up.

@@martincoven, Thanks for the answer. I checked your advice, at the vertex level the chamfer radius is correct, but the chamfer on the edge loop behaves differently than on vertex. And if you look very closely, you can see that the radius of the chamfer does not describe the correct circle. This edge chamfer problem is present with all settings and types of chamfers.

@@martincoven I can give prepared examples of my problems with chamfers. Where can I send you the scene? (2021 max)
