Yeah, I never understood the heat he got for taking over for Danzig. Firstly Danzig is/was a major dick head and was a piece of shit. I could not stand his solo band....good lord were they too much. They were NOTHING compared to the Misfits. Michael Graves had such a bad ass voice especially the way he would stretch his vocals...oh man, I'm so glad I got to see them back in the late 90's. Them's were good times when I was in Middle School/High School going to 2-3 shows a week for a while, skipping school early to down to San Diego from Orange County to see Thrice, or AFI (in 2001 when I was a Senior). Man...I got ravaged in the fucking pit when I was younger. I tried going in the pit when I was 32 like 5 or 6 years ago and I felt that shit so bad the next day. Good god, I cannot take that anymore that's for sure. I mean that's post 4 motorcycle accidents going 65-75 in each, getting fucked up in football in H.S. and the first 2 year of college and just general accidents/fights. I cannot fight at all anymore, I am so broken down physically and I'm not even 40. I mean Juvenile Parkinson's Disease hasn't exactly helped me keep my strength but still...
You can really tell that Michale is living and willing to die for what he does, dont think ive ever seen anyone that gets so in to it as him. True talent!
Graves created and continued the misfits flawlessly. Is he Danzig? Hell no but mad respect to Graves. At least he seems like a down to earth dude unlike Danzig. Either way respect to both but I've always been a Graves fan.
Michael graves is fuckin amazing. I love many misfit songs with danzig, but when I heard this song it made me want to start singing. He has a really decent range, vocally, and just a ton of soul when he sings. Michael graves, if you ever read this, just know you were my inspiration to start singing.
Hard to top danzigs voice..mix of Morrison an Elvis. Truly amazing vocalist. But love graves era too! He kept the melody of what's unusual in punk rock. Actual good voice. Like him cuz he truly has that 50s horror punk sound. Love it. Always love seeing him live. Still..miss their live shows whilst together. Amazing song writer too. Graves is on my list to see live one day. Also on my list are Phil Anselmo of Down, or formerly of PANTERA, Avenged Again, and again and again, Bullet for my Valentine, Children of Bodom, Danzig.
For my opinion, Danzig, Graves and Only, they all have great voices. I like a lot Graves because he sounds excelent in the long vocal parts, for example Scream and Dig Up Her Bones. And Only, he sounds like a blues singer, or almost like Elvis, with a deep voice, that its very good. And Danzig... well, what can I say? He's a mayor vocalist and singer. They all do great stuff with Misfits, it's all about the music, and horror, not about who has the biggest fans.
