I love these goals Rebecca. They are So thoughtful and intentional. Mine are quite similiar I don’t go by numbers,I have a nice manageable list I’ll aim for. I recieved a new reading journal so I want to keep track of my reading more and note the quotes that make an impact on me . I do annotate some books mostly my classic books, it helps me immerse myself more into the story. And I look back on them and the annotations bring me straight back. Thanks for sharing 🕊️🎄🎉🤍☕️
My “goals” are more like themes so no set numbers or rules…I will continue trying different classical authors (thanks to social media) and reading my classic movie shelves. 2025 will be incorporating the things I’ve experimented with this year. Like reading a nonfiction simultaneously with a fiction during my evening reading (eat your supper first, then you get dessert 🤣)…really helping me get through my stacks of nonfiction 😜📚📚📚
I love that you’re continuing next year with the practices you’ve honed in on this year. And the idea that your goals are “themes” helps to keep it low pressure. 😊 And I do something similar with nonfiction which is to start my day with it (same concept of eating veggies before dessert!)
I love your goals. They feel so intentional and perfect for you. I also want to work on being better about reviewing books and I’m hoping the format of my new reading journal will help some with that. 😊
I have set up reading challenges in Goodreads. The number of books for the year is based on what I will read per week or per month. I can get through quite a few audiobooks, but I am noticing that my reading abilities are deteriorating if I rely on that too heavily. By the way, I listen to audiobooks at x2 speed. Sometimes I go slower in the car or if the narrator has a heavy accent. That works really well for fiction, but not quite as well for heavy non-fiction. So my goal in Goodreads will be around 52 books - 1 book per week. But in the back of my mind, I want 12 of those books to be physically reading the book either in hard copy or on Kindle or on a similar app.
Goodreads is a fantastic way to track your progress and books. And I think one book per week sounds reasonable and attainable! I also listen to books at 2x speed. I usually start at 1.5x to get used to the reader and then I increase the speed. But I only do fiction audiobooks. I HAVE to physically read nonfiction.
Our goals are almost identical. You said everything I was thinking. I would like to keep a reading journal to write down passages and notes. I don't write in my books since I sell them back to get credit, but if I have an older, battered copy, I'll start doing that. Basically, I want to enjoy deeper reading experiences next year.
I love that we are so aligned! Today I put a sticky note of my thoughts inside a book I’m keeping but I am thinking of starting an electronic journal to keep records that I can search keywords later. I am planning on sharing about my reading journal SOON!
Very thoughtful goals! I also don't have a number goal for the year. I do have monthly goals of a Miss Marple, two book club selections, a British Library Crime Classic, a Penguin Green mystery classic (but that's only bi-monthly), three series and the occasional read-along. I also wish to cut back on the books I add to my collection. I have great library sales here and have even picked up some at local estate sales. Not a huge investment but it's daunting to see so many books at my shelves when I read less than 60 a year. In 2025 I'll likely read even less as I wish to get back to my knitting! 🧶
Maybe you can listen to audiobooks while knitting! I have a few British Library Crime Classics I’ve found used here and there that I’d like to read. Any favorites stick out in your mind? Also, thanks for watching. I REALLY appreciate your encouragement and support.
@ I’m definitely going to attempt an audiobook while knitting. That would be such a smart use of my time (and keep me from accidentally cleaning LoL) The most recent read of the BCCL was The Mystery in White. It was only okay. I’ve made a monthly challenge for myself because currently they are part of Kindle Unlimited. I would never find a book like this in my area thrift stores, free libraries and such.
A great list of goals. I look forward to seeing your reads and thoughts in the coming year!
Thank you so much! I will do my best to share my thoughts and reads throughout the year! 😊
I love these goals! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks 😊 I'm excited to start implementing them.

@@LizziebelleXOX That sounds like a marvelous way to keep track of everything!

@@jensreadinglife Thanks so much! You seem very organized so I’m sure you’ll figure out the right system 🥰
Hehe, I’m kind of known for ruthlessly dnfing books. It’s fantastic. Highly recommend.
It is so freeing to bail on a book you’re not enjoying! Good to know it’s working for you! 🤭

These goals are really great! Just as an idea, you could also listen to audiobooks in your RV as well!
That’s a great idea! I’m sure there would be plenty of time to listen to audiobooks while on the move.
These are great goals!! ♥️I’m still thinking about mine.
