Great video, thanks for the tips! I am trying to work out your accent, am I wrong to say you are South African? I am not bad at picking accents considering I am not English :) but your accents makes me wonder....
Your ideas are great! I have another one for you.... the Limbo Flashdance ... the ss get in line, music is playing and then the ss have to limbo dance under a pole that is held up by the teache and a student. Before the ss dance under the pole one at a time they have to name the flascard that the teacher holds up - if correct he can dance under and go to the back of the line, if incorrect he/she has to hold the pole, and so on. For the more advanced ss you can ask them to spell the word before dancing the limbo dance and of course you can let the pole go down lower and lower for more fun!
Absolutely amazing! Eric, thank you sooo much for a bunch of cool ideas - ‘how to organise an English class for young learners’’!! You know, I’m just starting to teach English to children at the studio in Moscow, so I’ll definitely use these games at my lessons! It’s really useful!
Thank you for your kind words, Anastasia! 😊 I'll make some more videos specifically for teaching young learners in the future! 😃 Good luck with your classes, I'm sure you'll be amazing!
Hide and seek you proposed IS educational as it develops the loci memory that is one of the most used technique to remember new things. Keep with the good work!
Hi Sandra! I'll do another reading video some time in in the future. Here is my original reading activities video: ruclips.net/video/CEFv0Fs_8k8/видео.html 😃😄
My younger learners love to substitute their own words for high frequency words in a passage or reader that we are reviewing. You can also use words you want them to practise. For example, we could read your comment again by replacing some words in your comment. We could substitute the following words: are...purple great...zebra games...crazy that...bananas on...eat and...hamburgers Then your comment would become: These purple zebra variations eat typical flashcard crazy bananas purple interactive hamburgers encourage speaking. It's totally ridiculous, but kids love the absurdity and pay careful attention. I begin by having the replacement words on the board for reference, but gradually erase them one by one. In the end, students have to replace words in the text from memory.
To be honest, your content helps me a lot when I don't have any idea to teach especially kids. Thank you so much to make this channel. You are such a great teacher 👍👍
Hi, Good idea about the sentence games, I'll look into those. For very young learners I did this video on Total Physical Response activities that might have a fun game or two. ruclips.net/video/WI8fE01QrrE/видео.html
Hi Adel! Thank you for the request, I'll do some more activity videos in the future. In the mean time here is another video I did on Listening Activities: ruclips.net/video/H1M0uTWI3n0/видео.html 😃
It was great Eric. Please share more videos about private classes. I have private classes and i sometimes become puzzled that which game should i play with just 1 student🤪
Love the games and specifically tic-tac-toe idea! I started letting my students play tic-tac-toe with spelling words where instead of Xs and Os, they use words, in that way they repeatedly write the words down. Real fun 🌻
Good seeing you last night Bushra! I was thinking of playing tic tac toe with the flashcards themselves, so students shout out the word for where they want to place their o or x. But might've been too complicated so I went with the normal, boring way.😄 Classes going okay?
@@etacude Thanks for asking Eric, I hope you're doing well amidst all the things you have on your agenda nowadays! My lessons go so much smoother nowadays - definitely because I feel more organised and I have a good discipline structure in place, following your guidance.💫 There are a few challenges (obviously) but overall, I am in a good place right now! Phew. 😊
Hello! Thank you for the video I found it VERY useful!! I am teaching kids between 3 and 7 years old in Vietnam. I struggle when we start a new topic with new vocabulary because they still don't know the words to play games. What's your method for new words? And also do you spend the whole hour playing games or do you have others less playful techniques for the beginning? Thank you so much!!
Hi Ainoa! Some great questions and I'll try to answer them in the future. Until then, here is a video I did on how to teach Phonics to young learners. I hope you can find some ideas in this video. :) ruclips.net/video/a9o9nfnWVlI/видео.html
Dear Eric, what time is your live stream tomorrow? I don't want to miss it! As you probably know, I am at home, like almost everyone in the whole world, so there are no excuses, I just have to manage my time properly.
Last March, I came across this reading manual. Since then, my boy and i also were certainly driven in sticking with the guideline. In these modern times, my very own boy don`t demand my assistance to read through textbooks. He`s at this moment in his Kindergarten and also he`s extremely positive in his classes. Research about this reading book by Google. The program’s name is *4ChildrenReading. Com*
Every simple sentence has to have a noun and a verb. Noun is a person (touch yourself), place (reach out your arm), thing (touch an object on your desk) or idea (swirl your finger on your hand by your head). Verb is action.
Wow Eric these are some amazing suggestions, I’m so grateful that you made this video and will be implementing these games into my lessons! Joel - English teacher for international elementary & preschool in Gdańsk Poland.
