Sorry that you encountered an individual who needs their license revoked as well as a little jail time. As you know though, unless you are wearing a go-pro and catch them acting stupidly in HD on camera, there is little you can do about them legally. I would encourage you however, to contact the cruise lines, the Chamber of Commerce in Sitka, along with the Police to report the incident and report these events wherever they occur. If Sitka gets enough bad press over these type of events, the sooner they will post a policeman or maybe even a camera of their own at the site, to catch these ignorant self-absorbed wackos. And these are suggestions you can give them yourself. Safe Cruising, Jayson.
The people that were scammed should report it to the cruise ship especially since they used their name. I will be in Sitka in about three weeks. Thanks for the heads up.
The cruise port in Ocho Rios has one of the best Rolex dealers Bjoux and it’s where most Jamaicans buy nice watches and jewelry. There are some really good legit ones but clearly there are scammers.
I feel like my friend and I were in that same jewelry store in Cozumel. We were stopped on the street by the waiter we had the night before in the MDR on an NCL cruise. He was in street clothes. He said his uncle had a jewelry store nearby and asked if we wanted to take a look. My friend said yes, so we went in. The store was kinda down an alleyway. I felt the whole thing was sketchy right off the bat as the "uncle" was very pushy. She ended up buying a ring for a couple hundred dollars, but they started pushing her to give them her drivers license. She said I don't have it with me and the man said yes you do its right there in your purse. At that time I told her I'm leaving come on, but she ended up giving them a copy of her ID. She's in her 70's. I guess we should have reported the waiter to NCL but I can't really see them as doing anything about it given their extreme lack of customer service. I don't know what they did with her information.
Never buy anything like jewelry on those foreign places/ Store. They will sell fake diamonds, fake stones & fake gold. They are Scammers. Never give personal information like Passport copy or Drivers License. They will open credit cards on your name and other scams. Don't be fool people.
Si sad people are treating passengers bad in ports, supposedly the need the money the tourists bring in, they want the ships to not go to those ports anymore? Lets list them, and we will not spend a dollar there...
On a normal cruise I would say definitely not. This is no normal cruise and the woman was repeatedly asked to stop, not by the management, but by the fellow passengers. So basically she kept spamming them with unwanted opinions. What would she be like as the cruise progressed? The CEO leaves me feeling he is incompetent and should be replaced
Hi Jayson, So sorry to hear of your experience it’s so sad 😞 I’m glad you listened to your wife and went on your excursion. Sad to say that could happen anywhere there’s evil people all over. But thank God most people aren’t that way! Thanks for sharing with us!
I went to Sitka last Sep for the 1st time. My wife and I enjoyed our water tour, walking around town and the time at the fish hatchery. It was very crowded on the sidewalks and in the shops. We even walked out of a bar where the service couldn't keep up with the customers. There was a very long line to get on the bus back to our port location 5 mi outside of town. I understand that less passengers per day would be good, as well as a day or two without ships at all, as it appears there's only one road along the shore to get to and from town. No need for threatening driving, especially if your day was less busy.
Holding onto passengers’ money, the ship operator is in no hurry to sail. I am sorry that happened to you in Sitka! I have never been threatened but have felt unsafe in some ports in the Caribbean because of aggressive vendors.
The big scam giving children little trinkets then trying to charge parents. That happened to us. We had a 6’5 male family member who stepped to the guy, gave the items back and told the guy involved to “skip rocks!”
Just got back from my cruise to Alaska and found most people to be pleasent in Sitka.... thought most the people in Prince Rupert Canada to be rude and not thrilled we were there.

Kicking a passenger off Villa Vie Residences... It's not a cruise ship. It's a dictator-ship. ;)

So are they going to refund her money. Because you aren’t voting me off unless you’re going to refund my money.

Sorry to hear that happen to you. Good to know you and your wife still enjoyed your self.
Glad you and your wife are ok and that you enjoyed your excursion.
Thank you and I appreciate you watching
Are you kidding? Have you seen how they drive in Mexico? Been a pedestrian in Ensenada lately? 😮
Sound as if they have more money than sense!
Why would you buy something like that unless to get a thumbs up from the cruise line
As with most things the lady that was "voted" off, we don't know the entire story.

We only have her side of the story. There's no telling what she was saying! People are sick of Karens complaining non stop!

I think the Villavie company is out of money and is finding ways to get the passengers to go away.

Villa Vie sounds like another failed venture / scam. Seems like there is a global rise in small, angry ppeople.
They call the Alaska thing " Cabin Fever". Figures she drove a Subaru.
Threaten by by someone in Jamaica for not buying a souvenir.

The excursions operatoi love the money but that's ok
