The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Even Frank Sinatra said that Tony Bennett was the best singer. Hands down!!! This makes me cry, brings back so many good memories. Never to come back
Greatness recognizes greatness
RIP to this legend.
Is so soothing listening to this song. Rip Tony
What a life he made for himself! What a life!
Thank you for sharing this. We need more entertainers like this, Tony had such class and still does! You can feel everything he sings. Plus, I always loved his smile.
cringe
@@rafaelwong5413 Always be kind to your mother and father and all the other unrelated people who choose of their own free will to be kind and act as mother, father, brother and sister to you.
Beautiful: the vigor, the experienced care and love of women, place and life. Superstar always.
RIP to a true legend. 96 is pretty good though. He never stoped singing.
What song😢 and what a singer the likes we will never hear again god bless you Tony you will be dearly missed. Thank you. ❤ ❤️❤️
I sure hate waking up to such sad news.
I leave my💔heart with the man who left his "in San Francisco". 😢
I really loved Anthony (Tony Bennett) Bennedetto. Thank heaven his music will live on.
Did you know that in 1962 CBS released this now-iconic song as the B-side of "Once Upon A Time. DJs at the time preferred 'I Left My Heart In San Francisco' and played it in regular rotation, leaving the A-side almost unheard.
RIP tony ❤❤❤ this song got me thru a sad time in my life when I was homesick for my city by the Bay
This song has always struck a strong emotion chord with me-the melody, the lyrics, Tony’s delivery-are just sublime.
Those were great times and such great entertainers like Mr. Bennett. Thanks.
Amazing performance, instant subscribe.
Love to watch Tony Bennett on You Tube and I love it when you play his songs ! Most of your songs and comedy skits I like to watch on your channel !
cringe
didnt remember tony being on the show so much....but it was always a pleasure....one of the Greats!.....
Tony Bennett...
A well-worn saying, but Tony really did get better with time. Rest in peace, Maestro. Thank you for seven decades of impeccable performances delivered with class, style, and dignity. ❤
Magnificent performance!
So classy!
I am totally enjoying these clips. This man so obviously loves to sing.
Tony,Frank,NAT,Tim,Tom Jones, as maiores vozes que já ouvi.
Your One of The Best, Tonny Bennet!! 🏆
Thank you for sharing! 💖🎄
May you rest in peace
R.I.P. Tony
RIP Tony
Anthony Benedetto from Astoria, Queens. Sinatra called him “the world’s greatest saloon singer.” Frank knows. :))
I lived in San Francisco for 30 years--every time I hear this I am mentally transported to SF... What a song--back then SF was so magical and now a dump--thank God I got to live there when it was magical and fun. As for Tony, he is in a class by himself, everyone else including Sinatra are far behind. On a 5 star scale, these songs are a 10!
I do agree
Bravo, Tony. Love to you in Russia
And to think. Tony did not really want to do this song at first. Only for it to become his signature song. I have an album that has what I believe to be his best performance. Daw Tony twice in concert. A wonderful showman. This is nice.
Tremendous
" It calls to me " RIP, TB
As a teenager & young man he waited tables & would sing when they let him. The original "singing waiter"! 💖🎼🎶🎵
Absolute legend, amazingly talented and one of the last of the old crooners, listening on Christmas day 2021,Happy Christmas 🎄 ❤
O melhor "crooner" de todos os tempos e esta entre nós. Show !!!
The greatest to ever do it. Even Frank said so.
Oh yes...back when Tony was perfoming at "mafia weddings"😎
🙏🏾🙏🏾
RIP and much love!
When I hear this song I feel sad, it reminds me of how far we have fallen in our society today.
Sad but true. Well said.
First song reminds me of my home, second song reminds me of Joey Diaz
2022 still listening to this song
Back when San Francisco was worth remembering....
Great performance my Mr Tony Bennett.
What a shitty comment lmao
@@angelsunlight My wifes from Richmond and we had many romantic evenings in the City , weve since moved and our more recent trips to SF have been very disapointing. I love SF but the city has a lot of issues right now , as does most big cities in our Country.
@@michaelgarcia5689 yeah I understand. I moved back to the bay after a few years and the gentrification and the homeless problem is out of control. It will always be my home though
@@michaelgarcia5689 - It ain't just "big cities"...name one rural or small town that's doing better than it was when Bennett sang this song? Look at West Virginia and the like...half the state gets some form of Govt assistance. Any decline has been across the board; only upscale areas suffered the least because the wealth gap since this song has steadily favored upper income. Rather be in SF than WV, ARK or rural Indiana, that's for sure.
Sin palabras unos últimos gran cantante.ya no salen gracias Tony bene.Dios te bendiga..
💔
That was a long time ago.
Is that Bobby Hackett on the horn in the background?
I do believe you are quite right, Evan.
21 years before Lady Gaga was born.
Somebody left the tape out in the rain...
Gangs everthing
I bet he wished he couldve left his nose
Then why comment?
...we all going to ignore that this is the incel version of this...wtf?!
Tony had one great song, then the meatball went down the toilet when he got into politics
