At first I probably would’ve given it a 7, but this past year I’ve come back to it so many times, helped me through good and bad times. Now It’s probably a 9 for me.
I started by hearing Jet Skis and Mirrorball first, and loved but never was drawn much to the full album, but when I did decide to hear t I fell in love with it. solid 10/10 for me. Also im a more recent listener so idk if that has to do wth anything
The Car and TBHC seem to me musically more interesting than their old albums because of the new resources they implemented to explain deeper and more innovative themes (compared to heartbreak, the life of a rockstar, drugs) and that shows the creative process in these new atmospheres. that they generate since it is not easy to leave your comfort zone in art (it takes a lot of process, rethinking and meditation). I feel that they have been able to approach a new style without losing their essence (I listen to their songs and I still feel that they are Artic Monkeys). It's obvious that many people who are already used to their original sound don't like it, but it's respectable, the band already knew that not everyone was going to like it. The objective of this album is not to repeat the same formula but to get out of the box, innovate and propose new scenarios to move people, which is what an artist should do (innovate with his art, move, experiment and create). I'm not saying that one album is better than another, it just seems more artistically interesting to me. In art there is nothing better or nothing worse, it is subjective and depends on the people. (Excuse my English, I just used Google Translate)
The English is great and I mostly agree. I’m a passionate fan of the band. Although I could definitely “subjectively” rate my favorite and least favorite albums, THEY ARE ALL equally thoughtful and cotinuative in sonically beautiful, lyricially meaningful way. I fucking love WPSIATWIN.. Close to committing the entire album to memory. I love The Car, I loved TBHC. I admittedly fall in love with their newest stuff after I see it performed live. But either way, all of it rings true.
I have to agree with you on this. I didn't like the album at first but the music grew on me and everytime I look for a live performance of theirs, I lean towards their performances from the last year or so rather than their older ones.
I spent the whole video waiting to see if you used any of my videos as examples! I'm gutted you didn't! hahah! I loved the Car and I appreciate their progression, probably because, as you compared too, the Beatles are my favourite band EVER, and I understand how important experimentation is in a band career. it is what makes artists interesting to me.
Brilliant video! personally, when released, I did not enjoy the album 'the car' but I do think that was because I enjoy their early stuff so much. After to listening to it for a year and hearing them live for the first time my opinion of the album has changed so much and I now do enjoy their new music. I enjoy all of their music and cant wait for another Arctic Monkeys era to see where they go next!
Thank you my friend and I could not agree more it’s a grower for sure and the songs just take on a whole new character live. Always a proper event when AM release an album…just really it’s not 5 years away haha
I didnt think the album was great on first listen. Just like with tbhc though, it starts to grow on me. I did think "Hello You" and "Sculptures" were my favorite on first listen, because they were playing with new sounds and having fun with it. I saw the band live at Red Rocks and they were stellar. I've noticed that the songs from the car sound awesome live, and I cant say the same thing for the tbhc era when they were performing those songs. It will probably be a while before we get the next album, but I love all 7 albums and im confident that they wont disappoint!
I actually really liked the TBHC tour as well - thought the songs sounded fab in that tour as well. Although they’ve reworked songs from that album and they sound even better now - title track TBHC sounded class on the car tour. They always pull it out the bag so I’m confident they’ll deliver something worth talking about on the next one!
I've never listened to Arctic Monkeys outside hearing "Do I Wanna Know" in passing. Spotify played a track from TBHC and I was hooked. I love The Car as well. As a new fan, it's odd to see these 2 albums that pulled me into this band not be liked by the fan base. Of the other artists you mentioned at 1:40, I'd add U2's Achtung Baby, Zooropa and Pop to that. Those albums are vastly different in direction, sound, and image compared to the band's 80s and post 2000s material. Bono even changed how he sang during the Zoo TV tour, including older tracks, especially when he adopted different characters. U2 didn’t play early material starting into the Zoo TV tour either. ruclips.net/video/Ry42AY3efqw/видео.htmlsi=ESLBp3v-1RGy1CF1
I think certain Am Fans shit on anything after Humbug because they’re stuck in that mid-2000s post punk revival fantasy. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great sound to be loyal to, but not all fans. Honestly, those that don’t like their later stuff kinda stop ceasing to be a fan. Coming from someone who has reacted to the music and grouped them into 4 general “eras. ” Debut & FWN. Then Humbug, + SIAS. AM was inarguably its own distinct era, then TBHC + The Car is our current era.
First time hearing body paint, I thought it was awful. I listened to sculptures of anything goes and forgot about it, but seeing them in concert changed it. I now really like this album and even though it isn't rock, the songs on this album are some of their best.
@@sanjaypanchalmusic right, let’s go for this WPSIATWIN- Please Please Me/With The Beatles: First album, debut on the world, made them stars. FWN- A Hard Days Night/Beatles For Sale: Songwriting is more evolved, bit wiser and more dynamic Humbug- Help! : Where they start getting REALLY good. Humbug is my favourite AM album. SIAS- Rubber Soul: Transition album between the early stuff and the experimentation on the next. AM- Revolver: This one just makes sense to me. Revolver is my favourite Beatles record. TBHC- Sgt Peppers: Concept album (kind of), Songs flow into each other, massive change in sound. The Car- Magical Mystery Tour: same kind of sound albeit a bit more full on. AM8 will be like The White Album.
Saw them at the emirates second night they where great. I was disappointed with Glastonbury but overall enjoyed this era but humbug will be my favourite era.
Having seen them live in the UK on the Car tour and watched Glastonbury on the telly, I’m curious as to how you think Glasto was different to their own shows?
@@lulusheffield1884 don’t know just seemed off but looking back alex was not at 100% that night. Just thought they would add 1 or two to the set list something special like 2013 but I was setting very high standards
@@cullipyt I thought the BBC’s Glasto coverage was dire - the sound was muffled and the way the cameras cut to the back of the field between every song killed the fluency for viewers, (almost like a commercial break!) but i thought the band gave us the same great performance they’d given in their own shows. Crazy, when I first heard it, I was like "this is amazing." I love it. Sculptures is my favorite.
Loved this analysis, gutted this era is coming to an end :(
Can’t wait for the next one!

I saw crying lighting live at moody center, and they played the crying lighting guitar solo at a faster speed
Interesting….maybe they’ve gone back to the original version..

I love and deeply appreciate all.
I loved The Car on first listen. It's absolutely masterful. I love this kind of music.
I think this album is the turning point to them, lets see what the next release brings
Agree I think they’ve firmly closed the door on the ‘AM’ sound and everything that came before it but let’s see what happens on the next album
First time hearing body paint, I thought it was awful. I listened to sculptures of anything goes and forgot about it, but seeing them in concert changed it. I now really like this album and even though it isn't rock, the songs on this album are some of their best.
Amazing how seeing a band live can change your whole perception of a song - some of their best work is 100% on this album.
The Car by The Last Shadow Monkeys
Since the day I bought and listened the record, I had no doubt, this was their best yet.
I love all of their records. I was disappointed with the Paris gig because from where I was seated Alex's voice sounded really bad, very metallic
Hit and miss with sound quality at gigs these days! Have had my fair share of disappointments but luckily they sounded good when I saw them
i sort of think of TBHC as the bands Sgt Peppers and The Car as their Magical Mystery Tour.
Which Beatles record would humbug be?
@@sanjaypanchalmusic right, let’s go for this
WPSIATWIN- Please Please Me/With The Beatles: First album, debut on the world, made them stars.
FWN- A Hard Days Night/Beatles For Sale: Songwriting is more evolved, bit wiser and more dynamic
Humbug- Help!

Nothing will ever beat whatever people say I am, first three albums total magic in my opinion. Guess its all about opinions.
its the new hambug
I loved this era!!!!
Me too ❤
