@@trevthedev6134 Fun fact, RUclips supposedly uses the file name for the video as part of the keywords for who the video gets promoted to. So naming your files might not only help in terms of organization but also growing your channel faster.
I’ve been listening to your mathematically optimized damage videos in the background while grinding out my first Elden Ring RL1 run. Very well researched and presented, love the content!
After watching all of the Backlogs challenges, this kind of dedication and thoroughness is a really fascinating evolution of the challenge. Incredible, thorough work!
I wonder if asylum demon is possible in ng if you use the glitch where you leave undead asylum with him still alive. You probably already know this, but you can "kill" asylum demon and then quit out before you get the kill confirmation screen, and as long as you got him to zero health, the key will spawn and you'll be able to leave with asylum demon intact. I don't actually know if you can go back and fight him after that without the game having problems though
I’m pretty sure extensions that estimate dislikes don’t really work well for smaller channels like mine. My analytics show 99.7% like versus dislike at the time of this comment, which I think means there’s only been 1 dislike. Just fwiw.
I haven't seen anyone mention this but in the gaping dragon one shot you said you were using the sorcerer's catalyst when in the footage you were using Logan's catalyst along Gwyndolin's helmet which would be also very hard to get at that point in the game but I guess that someone could just drop them to you same as the soul of Manus
This is why I need an editor haha. Although if you have the master key you can skip gaping dragon until after anor londo/dlc, so at least this one’s doable without trades.
Yeah, you can do that one without trades but to kill Ornstein you used a crystal infused weapon and the crystal ember is in the archives past O&S I didn't say this because I didn't want to sound too petty (also Manus catalyst is used for Smough along with pursuers which are both loot from the soul of Manus so friend would have to bet him twice which would be quite the commitment)
for the ones that arent cleanly divisible, would deliberately missing some of the dark bead shots, or losing some of the pursuers prior make a difference? (actually dont know if you can fire less of the pursuers, think ds3 had that?)
There may be something with dark bead if you only got 6 hits, I think maybe on one or 2 bosses possibly. Good thought! I suppose you could say the same for pursuers, and I know they do a small amount of damage if they hit and enemy before actually firing). You can cast less than 5, but only at low intelligence levels (I think like 26-30 is 4 orbs? I don’t think you can fire 3 because of the spells requirements but technically it operates the same as homing soul mass, which can have as few as 2 at really low levels of intelligence.
@@trevthedev6134oh thats really cool. never really paid attention to the amount of orbs increasing with int. was thinking youd be able to partially shoot them, thought i remembered seeing that in pvp once in a while where only like two orbs got shot and then the opponent still had three of them
For Qualaag did you experiment with the weird lock-on bug? If you lock on to an enemy after attacking but before you hit, damage is altered by 1. I can’t remember if it goes up or down, but it’s in all the games (maybe not DaS2). It’s so weird since I can’t fathom what would cause this.
I did not. I know there is some weirdness with how the game displays damage numbers on an enemy versus the boss bar as well. There are some coding quirks in the game for sure
I I'm so concerned I've dealt 3 HP of damage to bed with a rolling unarmed strike before and not killed it, it had 4 HP for me then Did I do it on NG+ accidentally?
Not entirely sure, but I think it climbs to 4 hp in NG+ 3? I know it’s at 3 in NG+. Maybe you had the gauntlets of thorns? They add a little bit of extra damage to fist attacks (both unarmed and actually with stuff like the caestus!)
As far as i know any one-shot works, it's just a rare random chance. I know for a fact it still exists because a streamer wanted to find out exactly that right after Remastered released
Second time's the charm! I had to reupload as I accidentally uploaded my Demon's Souls video again. Whoops!
There ya go :)
@@XPCatalog Haha yeah. Guess I've gotta stop calling everything just untitled.mkv

Interesting, I’ll be sure to keep that in mind for future uploads. Good ol’ RUclips haha
We say "this is insane" colloquially but this is probably a legitimate indicator that you've lost your mind. Beautiful work 💕
This is insane. I've watched Numberphile videos with less math.

With that 1 off on Quelag I would call it Parker's oneshot
Clicked on the video instantly after seeing the notification banner. Absolutely love your dark souls videos

His contest more or less actually got me into making souls content, funnily enough
Don't give up, skeleton!
when even challenge runs aren't enough to scratch that itch.
amazing concept. you're a king and i love you.
Learning math in dark fantasy, my likings.
2:17 did he really just say where we fart the gargoyles LOL
Great video! Maybe you can get your revenge on some of the bosses with the different area modifiers in NG+?
Wish I'd seen this video for, uh, better reasons than an argument on Reddit...
Still, this is amazing! I'll send it to my Souls friends.
Haha well if arguing math about dark souls isn’t what Reddit is for then what other purpose does it serve? lol
After a long day it's nice to end it off with a TrevTheDev video.

Yeah, I think it would be pretty trivial to one shot him that way. Only 813 hp, not very much at all
Why the heck are there so many dislikes on this video WTF? Another great video and idea, thanks Trev!

Thanks again for the awesome content!
Pog, more Dark Souls Math Man!
This was a great concept! You deliver as usual
super impressive man, love seeing more videos by you!!!
Great video as always. So interesting to watch
Boy do I love Math Souls
Easily? The 4 kings one shot only happened recently if I remember correctly.
I wish my developer colleagues were as dedicated as you are! 😂😂
This has been the strangest tech interview experience recap that I've ever seen. What round is this one from? The tenth interview?
Always love math videos :D
damn, RUclips, why didn't you notify me of this video earlier?!
I don't think anyone has ever made a +9 magic broken straight sword before 😂

First! 🎉 also, why was the first video taken down? Also also, great video as always Trev.
Haha I accidentally uploaded the Demons Souls video again.
Praise the math!
you should’ve kept the graphics up as you talked about them more
Yeah I should’ve gotten more b-roll ahead of the kills. Still trying to improve my editing and production!
Could you do a plunging attack on Quelaag and time power within perfectly so that it runs out between the two ticks?
Haha yes I bet it is. We’re talking a like sub 5 frame window though. I’ve done some crazy things but even I’m not up for that tast lol

Yeah, it’s pretty great! But I think most people go for the catalyst?
Hate to break it to you but the Priscilla lock is still very much a thing in Remastered
Fortunately there is a mod on Nexusmods that fixes it
Hmm interesting. Do you have to oneshot her when she’s invisible? I did it here with no issues and didn’t have any mods installed.
