- I recently returned from a seven-night sailing onboard one of Carnival’s newest ships, Mardi Gras. This modern, innovative cruise ship is one of the best in the business for offering an incredible cruise vacation.
As someone who hadn’t sailed with Carnival for many years (until last year), I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when I stepped onboard. My prior experiences with Carnival had been on older ships, such as Carnival Ecstasy. Older ships are more simplistic in terms of technology and overall things to do.
Mardi Gras is the second newest (and biggest) ship in the cruise line’s fleet, meaning you have more places to eat, drink and relax than ever before. With only so much time on your cruise, you’ll want to make the most of each minute of your vacation.
Here are 10 things to know before you book Carnival Mardi Gras so you can decide if this ship is right for your cruise vacation.

Food quality on this ship is good at best, Pools are overcrowding,
Were you in an ocean view or balcony suite?
I sailed in the beginning of July on Mardi Gras.....my first cruise. I will never sail during summer again! The teenagers, I believe 12-15 or 16, were SO DISRESPECTFUL and rude. They had no respect for other passengers, the crew or the ship itself! While I personally enjoyed the overall experience, didn't seem crowded to me, I am better informed about the sailing season! PS....the pizza was AMAZING!!!!
I go on Carnival a lot and your totally right, I’m a kid, so I go to kids club and stuff, I’ve seen manyyy fights outside the kids club and people running up and down the stairs in front of the kids club
We heard from our TA that the persons in the adult pool need to be careful bc the pool below them can SEE EVERYTHING
No sound.
Personally, I cannot think of anything more horrifying. Did Carnival once and it was like a floating Wal-Mart. But you all have fun!
Which cruise do you prefer and why
You are so beautiful😊
The Mardi Gras sucked! By far the worst ship we've sailed on. Food was sub-par, choppy layout, entertainment sub-par. This one has nothing to do with the cruise line, but the rudest passengers we've come across in the 5 cruises we've taken. Just an all around bad experience.
We had the same experience. Too crowded and not layed out for ADA peeps. Took me appx. 10-15 min to be able to get my scooter on the elevators. Not the people but the smaller elevators.
