What would be neat is if we got a continuation of the lovecraftian Quake or a reboot in that style, the Strogg stuff has had two games already and technically speaking they both had a semi similar chain of events as they both involved destroying or sabotaging strogg facilities, including a big gun, a hangar, a processing center, a waste center, a communications center and then killing the makron. Sure there has been a battlefield style quake with enemy territory but at this point idk what else they could do with the Strogg storyline without essentially just making quake 2 but different the third time around. Remastering Quake 3 sounds like a big leap imo. The problem with remastering multiplayer segments for games is the number of players are often low. And keeping servers up takes money so chances are that if it does get a remaster, the servers might lose support. The best bet might be to remaster the other games and build up more interest first.
So happy to see the N64 version included. It’s an instant buy from me if that’s the case. The 64 version is the one I first played and grew up on. It is one of my favourite FPS games of all time 😢
The N64 version isn't actually _exactly_ the same, because it's running on the remastered Quake II engine (obviously, because it's included in Quake II), while the original Quake II 64 was actually an entirely original game (like Doom 64) made on the _Quake I_ engine, since there was simply no way the N64 could handle the Quake II engine. So the level design and enemy placement is faithful to the original, but since the engine is different it's not going to play exactly the same as you'll remember it. But it should still scratch your nostalgia itch.
It's got just a few little things though that im Not a fan of . . .For example when you in space it has some of the planets and space background used in quake 2 pc, and not the original version of just stars. they have the original skies for most, but for the jpeg picture skies like on the space levels, they use that orange planets jpeg which is off . . . And the railgun is orange not blue, bfg is blue not green. But I don't like the weapon swap sound. Sounds corny. Eh . . . And they could have had the option to clean some of the textures up . . . I still love it though played through it 5 times allready can't believe it's actually here don't gotta rely on that quake 2 64 maps mod which only used the first planet
So many memories 😊 Multiplayer was wild. Can't believe they didn't show the Railgun. That weapon was wild, especially on that cyllindrical map, forgot its name, with the wide open space in the middle. Ah.. the times.
@@hunter_k421 How have I missed that? It's in there. I guess I expected it to be highlighted. As for the map... You're absolutely right! 😅 Railgunning people on that map with the xenomorph skin in a wide fov (forgot how much, wasn't max) was a blast. 🤪
This remaster is looking awesome so far and the person who made this trailer should be given a raise. That rocket launcher sfx at the end when the title shows up is a nice touch. Give us more Quake please

I'll be real. I put SIGNIFICANTLY more time into Quake II than the original Quake. The way the levels were interconnected and secret design was pretty fun to replay. Even had secret routes to really entertain speedrunning the campaign
Quake 2 was the game I first witnessed at a Lan hall on machines running 3dfx voodoo cards. My jaw dropped at the graphics, in a time when the n64 and psx were king.
I launched steam today and I had 3 new Quake 2 trading cards, I was like "what?" and so I immediately went looking for Quake 2 achievements, and yes, that's a thing now, with 13 of those! But that's not even the best news, it wasn't just an update, it's an actual Re-release! Full of Extra Content such as concept arts; Playable Demos and Videos and Enhanced Gameplay... 20 Years of love and devotion for Quake 2 inally paid off! I wish I could personally thank everyone at the team who put their love into this, seriously, I love you guys! I've read everything there was to read (even appreciated some coffee mug marks lol) and now it's time for some Strogg shooting!
Hands down the best FPS of the 90s, I spent many many hours playing coop, deathmatch and CTF at LAN parties and over my audio ISDN connection. Plus, it basically created the modding community.

The original QUAKE can't be beat but this game still rules. Excited to play it. This game played a large part in popularizing sci-fi shooters, even though it lacks the magic of the original (While still being brilliant).

I wouldn't be opposed to a full remake considering how awesome capcom has been doing with their remakes, along with the dead space remake. Give us more quake, finally!!!! And another epic soundtrack.
I'm so happy to see a Quake II remaster. I played the game quite a while ago, so I'm ready to replay it with the new enhancements. Hopefully this means an eventual Quake III remaster?
Quake II was like a revelation back in the days I bought a voodoo card just for this and I still have the original old machine here just to play old school stuff. Nostalgia.
Excited to replay this, I played the original last year but for some reason couldn't get the soundtrack to work, lol. Now I can enjoy both the soundtrack and the expansions!

Quake 1 only got one chance and hasn't been rebooted yet, and I feel like the Shambler could be a pretty terrifying thing if done right.
Plus Shamblers had something to do with the Strogg so maybe there could be a mix of both
Seeing servers full in Quake 2 is definitely a special moment
I NEED a version of Rage with those metallic stomps in the intro
This game is a blast! I'm having so much fun in multiplayer and also the campaign is so well remastered, controls are snappy and it runs smooth as butter. What a job, what and awesome gift you gave us nightdive 👌
I'm so glad they gave Quake II the same remaster treatment as Quake 1. And to include the official expansions as well as some new ones for both remasters was a very smart business choice, as the main campaigns by themselves would not have been enough to warrant those remasters. Plus, there are gamers like myself who loved the expansions as much as we do the main campaigns. Any thoughts, anyone?
I got this ON SALE And I still consider it to be the best four dollars I have ever spent
Thanks to John Carmack for this superior game. After 25 years it still unbeatable.
You still can’t beat it?
@@LostHope84Must be a hard game.
Try playing it on a lower difficulty setting.
guys this comment went way over people’s heads lol 😂 He is talking Quake 2 being unbeatable for 25 years compared to the competition out there!
@@supertrendymoneymaker0722 If it's going over their heads, he should try aiming a bit lower. Right at the enemy's mid section.
Quake is the greatest FPS ever created and still the best. The days of Team Fortress and Clan Battles was epic.
No unreal tournament is better😊
Loved Unreal Tournament, But if I was to rank: 1. Quake 2 Team Fortress 2. Unreal Tournament: Death Math: 3. Counterstrike: Capture the Flag @@onexpolska7684
@@onexpolska7684UT99 is kinda ... Feels like a Party game. For fun times with friends. A little Unbalanced for purpose.. quake's pvp multiplayer was kinda... "competitive". Since doom days.
I'll always prefer Unreal Tournament
UT99 has more stuff and may technically be called better, but there is nothing like a good deathmatch with friends on Q2DM1.
Pretty solid re-release with better graphics and faster combat. Nice that it was free for original owners.
This was my favorite co-op game back in the day. I loved how the loading between levels worked.
Anyone else remember sticking their CD that this game came on into their boom box and discovering that it doubles as the OST to the game?
That was like a Core Gaming Memory for me.
Sonic Mayhem is a fooking legend!!
I remember seeing the .wavs in windows explorer and wondering if it'd work in a CD player and being so excited that it did. Felt like I discovered a secret. I still have those same .wavs from the disc on my HDD somewhere, lol.
The good old days. Whenever I didn't play quake 2 on the PC, I played the soundtrack from my cd player.
I love when they do the new expansions with the modern map making strategies. It looks so good on the old school engine.
Man i almost cried, this game made my childhood even tho i didn't play this one that much and only played 11 years ago it's a masterpiece, thanks bethesda❤❤
I gotta give Bethesda credit they are responsible for me finally getting the chance to play Doom, Doom 2, Doom 64, Quake and now I finally get to play Quake 2. YES! I'm loving every minute of playing these classics. I hope we get more.
Hell yes
What exactly did stop you before? You were always able to play it. Just grab a source port and you're good to go. Even 4K resolution has been supported for 10 years now.
@@whuzzzup Bro, I'll be honest with you, back in the day I was far too poor to get a PC. Then I grew up playing consoles and at that time I wasn't really interested, but I kept hearing about those games and when I got older and burnt out on modern games. Bethesda started dropping these classics and I've been enjoying them ever since.
@@justinsantos8514 Alright. Good to hear you enjoy the classics now. They are great, have fun with them!
@@whuzzzupthose games wast really popular on consoles
I started playing the Quake 1 remaster about two weeks ago and immediately got hooked, so when I heard the rumors of a Quake 2 remaster, I was hyped af. I feel like I became a Quake fan at just the right time.
welcome to the club. I tried Q2 as a young teen in the late 2000s and I've been hooked on the series ever since. it's a series of immense quality.
@@NikkiMcMistie it's seriously addicting. I love that you can download mods and custom missions in Q1 remastered. Hopefully they add that feature to Q2, along with a horde mode like Q1 got.
@@LungoScrungo dont know about horde mode but i did hear they were gonna add the Playstation port to it so thats awesome. i also hope they add bots to CTF because theres too many trolls that team kill lol
im optimistic either way it seems likr the quality is increasingly more insane with each remaster
the captions for this video are hilarious

Awesome!I still have my original Quake 2 on the shelf. The boxes were sweet and large then, back in the good ol' days.
Man I remember playing Quake 2 when it first came out. And the mods/TCs for it at the time were truly groundbreaking.
What were the good Quake 2 mods/TC ? I vaguely remember a matrix thing that was pretty fun with some kung-fu and maybe wall jumps.
@@jonah2047 Action Quake 2 (nowadays AQtion, standalone), Weapons of Destruction, Weapons Factory, Kick. Those were the ones I used to play, at least.
Matrix Q2 used the Action weapons and added the movie's moves.
I really hope quake 3 and 4 get the remaster treatment as well.
Love the atmosphere of these Quake games.
Quake III is gonna be FUN. Finally, I can kick my friends asses on it.
Key word -"Atmosphere"
Modern games don't hold a candle to the atmopshere these 90's FPS games had.
Remastering Quake 3 sounds like a big leap imo. The problem with remastering multiplayer segments for games is the number of players are often low. And keeping servers up takes money so chances are that if it does get a remaster, the servers might lose support. The best bet might be to remaster the other games and build up more interest first.
*cough* there is a Quake live though *cough*
@@untouchableE2INwait, Quake Live is still a thing?!
Same bro!!!!
@@ArcaneAzmadiuh OK
Quake 2 had so much impact in my life that it shaped who I am and what I do. From colors I like to me becoming an engineer.
Damn man wow, interesting. Some games impacted me a lot too and really got close to making me choose careers for those reasons but I still didnt
i felt i was being a cooler kid playing Q2 than those playing CS lol.
We want Quake 5 now, (with single player company of course)
So many memories 😊 Multiplayer was wild. Can't believe they didn't show the Railgun. That weapon was wild, especially on that cyllindrical map, forgot its name, with the wide open space in the middle. Ah.. the times.
1:19 Railgun shown there and I think you're talking about the most famous multiplayer map in Q2 "The Edge"
@@hunter_k421 How have I missed that? It's in there. I guess I expected it to be highlighted. As for the map... You're absolutely right! 😅 Railgunning people on that map with the xenomorph skin in a wide fov (forgot how much, wasn't max) was a blast. 🤪
You mean Q2DM1 also known as “The Edge” ❤
ONE OF THE BEST GAMES, AND DEFINITELY THE GREATEST FPS SOUNDTRACK OF ALL TIME!
THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A REMASTERED!
This remaster is looking awesome so far and the person who made this trailer should be given a raise. That rocket launcher sfx at the end when the title shows up is a nice touch. Give us more Quake please
I have waited so long for this to come out. One of my all time favorite games, I even crashed the server at my high school junior year because I uploaded Quake 2 so my friends could play death match at school with me. The staff never figured out who it was.
Man, they just casually dropped this outta nowhere. Just like, "Oh, yeah, by the way, we're releasing a remaster of Quake II and giving y'all the full experience for just $10. Have fun." Bethesda, id Software, Nightdive Studios, MachineGames... Y'all never cease to make me happy.
I spent so much time playing this and online multiplayer as a teen. So awesome to see it updated.
FACTS 🔥🔥
Please please please let this open the door for HeXen and HeXen II remasters
This is amazing, thanks for making it free for Quake 2 owners, you didn't have to go that hard but you did and it's glorious! Hopefully one step closer to a new Quake game.
I owned the original disk copy and still decided to pay for the remaster.
The original QUAKE can't be beat but this game still rules. Excited to play it. This game played a large part in popularizing sci-fi shooters, even though it lacks the magic of the original (While still being brilliant).
Original Quake multiplayer deathmatch s the greatest game of all time.
Number 2 had all the community mods, best multi-player at the time
It is so great that you made it co-op play! We need more quake co-op titles in the future when it comes to shooters.
Much thanks for putting in the work and releasing a classic for a good price. 👍
It's nice to see a remaster and not a "conversion".
My god this remaster is fantastic !
This soundtrack is forever my addiction! The Quake franchise is so amazing. I'm currently playing Quake I and III which I didn't play so much like Quake II. All soundtracks and gameplays are good in their own unique way.
If Quake got a proper modern reboot it would be one of the best games ever made I think. The enemies in Q2 are badass!
A good way to start Quakecon.
I'd like to have Wars and 4 tbh
The sound track of this game is still one of the bests 🔥🔥🔥
Man that music takes you right back!
Looks amazing, thanks to bring back this classic, a perfect remaster!
First shooter I ever played. First game I ever played outside Mario 64 lol.
This Quake fan is overwhelmingly ecstatic. I cannot count how many times I played just the demo for this game.
This was a great alternative to Doom back then!! Glad to see it return
Awesome ! Probably "the" best FPS ever made - well done folks, much appreciated !
Quake II was like a revelation back in the days
I bought a voodoo card just for this and I still have the original old machine here just to play old school stuff.
Nostalgia.
Q4 , bonus disk q2 ❤
Excited to replay this, I played the original last year but for some reason couldn't get the soundtrack to work, lol. Now I can enjoy both the soundtrack and the expansions!
I used to just put the songs on a CD and play it while I went through the game 😂
Nightdive is involved so I know this will be quality. Also, new expansion, plus the original two expansions, plus Quake 64? What a great package.
I wish they would make a Quake 5 and continue the Strogg-Human war storyline. 4 was one of my favorite single player games growing up :(
Does it run on my Pentium 133 MHz?
It very very good news ! 🙂 Some people think that “maybe better to do something new, when spent time on remake old?”, but renew old game, work about polish, thinking, make Quake2 better - it one of the steps which will lead all us to appearing new chapter of Quake story. Sometimes it very positive and refreshing for art to stop and rebuild things which be build before, it give new thoughts, fresh vision, art impulse and ideas for new projects. So, don’t blame remake of Quake2, it good sigh and needed step for way in future gaming projects. 👍P.S. Please, sorry for my poor English, I from Eastern Europe.
It looks better than i expected, fantastic remaster of this legendary gem. Brings you back to the late 90's like a time machine.
After 25 years it's back and better than ever! This is how you do a proper remaster!
What's wrong with Quake II RTX?
@@PotentChr0nic RTX requires RTX graphic cards and all the textures glow all over the place, think it's lame
I loved Quake 1. Very excited. ❤😊
Sign me up! I have the Quake remake on my PS5 and it is very well done. It's been a riot playing the game I played years ago at LAN parties in guys basements. Looking forward to Q2 !
My favorite game ever. Played the demo so many times before actually playing the complete version hahaha... Amazing how this jewels have lots of traction to date, really hyped about this launch.
"Computer Updated!"
Young player here, just bought this game with my brother and friend and in coop it slaps, wish we had games like this today
We all need more Quake in our lives

Now this is how you create a trailer. Takes me back when Doom became a real game changer and all those custom wads were created by communities to keep it going and cement it's legend, as also happened with the Quake series.
I’m in my 30s and missed Quake despite being alive at the time, beat Quake 1 for the first time this year and loved it and very much looking forward to this
I'm 30 too and on my way to finish Quake I for the 1st time too :)
This is definitely on my wishlist
