      yes. the dakota gauges use standard senders and this one is programmable to be universal.

    Huge Thanks. I have been frustrated with my ol' Float Style Sender for a long time now. Just need to come up with something cool for the Gauge side of things now.

    I wait longer than the 8-10 seconds they recommend in the instructions. Waited a minute before jumping to the next step. Talked to Classic Industries(maker of the sending unit, not Holley). They said it could react faster on the gauge display(Holley 12.3 Pro Dash)than the actual sending unit to respond. Always had the issue of it showing empty when it was a half tank. So far its working as it should. But time will tell.

      Ive given up with this “easy” sending unit. couldnt get it to work and didnt want to waste anymore time with it. ran out of fuel and was stuck on the side of the road. I purchased a ISSPRO floatless with their E85 coating.

    • @callofgeorge
      @callofgeorge Год назад

      hoping i can get it to work. i have a floatless once from tanks inc, but its not 100% accurate as my tank is more like 9.5" and they only sell 9" and 10" unless i pay extra for a custom (didn't know i could do that originally or i would have). but i also can't top my tank off due to the rollover valve setup. so its the 1/8" or so aluminum thickness, 1/4" flange, then the 1" or so fuel gap i have to leave so the rollover isn't submerged to create a a siphon effect until the fuel level drops below the rollover ball that's welded in the corner of my tank.. @@nicks2691

    Will this work in a tank where the factory fuel pump sits within the fuel sending unit? How would one go about installing a fuel pump with out that?

  • @callofgeorge
    @callofgeorge Год назад +1

    anyone have issues with this in an aluminum tank? mine works fine out of the tank but shows empty when installed. curious if the shiny aluminum finish is the issue. going to try calibrating it installed in the tank and may scuff the bottom under the sender with scotchbrite pad and hope the filter does it's job.

    • @nicks2691
      @nicks2691 Год назад

      Mine was on an aluminum fuell cell. Ive trie programming it outside of the fuel cell, on the fuel cell, and with fuell inside of the cell. Programming would be fine works as it should. As soon as I turn the key off, it wouldnt work right again.

    Issue, my 90 integra has a long ring and not bolt holes, so I'd have to make a new hole and put bolt holes to be able to use this?

    I wonder if they make something like this for Motorcycles . This would be amazing if it where smaller to fit a motorcycle tank.

      It uses a universal 5 bolt sending unit bolt pattern. You can buy flanges to weld on if you are installing in a factory tank.

    does it have a insulation boot , would have to short out the + wire , also do you wire the + wire to your ignition on so it only has power when car is running only

    • @callofgeorge
      @callofgeorge Год назад +2

      no boot, make sure you insulate the ring terminal and secure it well. it does have a small boot that goes over the studs. wire so it has power same time as your other gauges. usually accessory/ignition +

    Can this be mounted under the tank besides on top

    • @callofgeorge
      @callofgeorge Год назад

      no, it will always read full as the fluid will be against the sender. not to mention i doubt its able to be "submurged" or have fluid sit on the sender constantly.

  • @rocks2rocks06

    Holley, it wasn't "easy" the thing always looks past the last 3rd of the remaining fuel and quit working after one trip when I pulled it for the 3rd time to see why it wasn't reading the bottom 3rd set it up on the rig I made to set it up, looked as if it was correct put it back in the tank, and still wont read the bottom 3rd. so I decided to use a fluid to re re ... set it up, I set the empty volume in my test stand looked at my gauge to verify empty and the led was off, zero response and stuck on 1.4v output. Now I have to re install the old sending unit good thing I didn't through it away.

    Indicates correctly (1/2 tank) when tested 7in away from a surface outside of the tank. Indicates empty when tested 7 inches away from fuel inside the tank. Why does it work differently on fuel than on a solid surface?

      I set it up using a lab stand, nice a sturdy and can control the Hight easily, the problem is the lidar is mass sensitive the cast iron base easily sends a signal back to the unit, I was going to use water in a beaker, but the fuel sender quit working before I had a chance to test it.

      having the same issue right now. outside my aluminum tank it shows accurate. installed in tank, shows E when i have 1/2 tank. testing to see if the shiny aluminum finish is the issue. i spoke with classic instruments (company that makes it for holley). they instructed me to install on the tank and drain the tank to the "reserve level" and set to E, then fill it at a gas station to "full" and set that level. testing this today. i plan to make a video after.

    5 minutes to install new tank.. 2 hours messing with junk and still doesn't read right.

  • @batman607
    @batman607 Год назад +2

    This thing is junk. I set it up exactly the same way you set yours up and put it in the tank , it read empty,put the tank in the car. Put 5 gallons of gas in it. It read quarter tank, put five more gallons of gas in it went to full . The tank is only a 15 gallon tank . no matter what I did it doesn’t work right.

    Used the auto meter setup instructions for my Sport Comp II, it will not calibrate. Holley if it doesn’t work with a gauge don’t say it does. This was a waste of my money.

    The claim that this will work with "many other gauge brands" is misleading. It definitely DOES NOT work with an Autometer fuel gauge.
