- Travelling on the recently opened South Road Superway,
Further information;
The South Road Superway is South Australia's largest infrastructure project to date at a cost of $842 million. Spanning 4.8km, the South Road Superway is a part of Adelaide's proposed Northern Corridor, which will provide a 78km non-stop route from Gawler to Old Noarlunga.
Recent upgrades include the Northern Expressway (2010) and the Gallipoli Underpass (2009). The Southern Expressway duplication is still in construction and is expected to open mid-2014. Subsequent to the completion of the South Road Superway and Southern Expressway duplication, the two next stages include the construction of the Northern Connector between the South Road Superway and the Northern Expressway as well as a 3.7km upgrade to South Road between Torrens Road and the Torrens River
All directions, accesses and egresses are covered.

Always good to see a brand spanking new road. Very well presented too!
Thanks Geoff!
Nice ride man! Always nice to see new highways from the other side of the globe! Happy Easter from here in the States!!!
Thanks! Happy Easter also to you!
Great ride Richard, your best work to date in my opinion.
Thanks Scott!
Great work as always! Miss being in Adelaide, these videos help with that!
Thanks! Are you from Adelaide?
Yeah, live in Whyalla now. Horrible town
Impressive! I liked the explanatory videos on the bottom corner.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I worked on the design team for this job and the Northern Expressway for drainage and services (ground level drainage on this job) - nice to see the completed product! You will see a retention pond near the Days Road corner which was required due to the pile caps under the piers requiring removal of a culvert between there and Grand Junction Road. The replacement was smaller than the original, hence the storage pond.
Wow, that's quite interesting hearing that from your perspective. Quite clever too. Putting everything together, it's certainly a great achievement for transport in Adelaide, can't wait for the Torrens to Torrens. What company do you work for?
Road Tube Trying to get a job now - worked for SMEC at the time before they ran out of jobs (I'm actually from Melbourne but lived in Adelaide for these two projects)
South Road will keep jobs trickling through on and off I guess for some time - an expensive legacy of offloading the one freeway from MATS they needed - the north-south corridor.
Nicely done!
Thanks Kris!
Heppy Easter Road Tube.
good video
Thanks! Happy Easter to you in Poland!
That road is smooth as a baby's bum.
Good to see Australia getting more freeway no they just need some more connecting the cities.
Agree with you on that one! You probably know my opinion given I just responded to you on the SE Freeway vid!
dvferyance the Hume in Vic and NSW is all freeway
Excellent graphics. What production software do you use?
Thanks! I used Sony Vegas Pro
Thank you for uploading. Is there anywhere I can check all the direction signs on this highway?
lots of road construction happening around the country. love him or hate him tony abbott will leave his mark on the roads for the better
Haha, the Superway was constructed under Labor's watch :P. Also, half the funding for this project was by the State Government, which is also Labor.

yes i know, labor has traditionally been the one to "build australia." most of the infrastruture $ is in western syd from abbott but he did decide to fund the torrens section of south rd, they were not going to do that before the budget.
Refer to my first comment - after the short-lived Rudd cash splurge they ran out and the industry has actually been stuffed the last few years with a lot of redundancies - was very happy to be finally rid of them in the end!
If you're going to be filming any more sped-up footage from your dashboard, I recommend buying a stabilising gimbal mount so the camera doesn't shake and vibrate.
Very hard to watch this video in this manner.
How do you add a picture within a picture?
Why would they not give some early warning of the outside lane disappearing on the run North at the end of the wobbly fan sculpture.
100m warning! WTF. 1st time I went through here was at night, and got boxed in by a semi in the middle lane , leaving me nowhere to go, so I had to gun it, as another semi was coming up my rear. He obviously didn't realise that the lane was ending either. Sometime or other things could get quite nasty due to this problem. Otherwise, it's a great piece of engineering, and a pleasure to drive on. I just won't keep to the left lane heading north again, now I know.
I think you are referring to the left turn only lane from the Superway heading southbound onto Regency Road.
While there are signs which do indicate that it is a left turn lane as well as appropriate line marking, I do agree that unless you are paying close attention, or are familiar with the road, it is easy to be mistaken.
I think an overhead gantry sign would be the solution to the issue, however I guess budget was a major factor.
Road Tube No, it's not a left only lane. Check it out at 3:44 on the video
South Australia
Speed limits need to be increased. Superway could be a 140kmh road.
One of things Australia do bether than European countrys is there is no a lott Signs next to the road and u have cleaner and bether visualation to drive!!
Why it is useful, it also looks very ugly
