I was in the audience for this ... Iron Maiden were promoting the live version of Run To The Hills single from Rock In Rio..... They did three takes. The band don't actually perform live here but are miming to the live version, although Bruce sang it live over the backing track .... Iron Maiden fan club members were invited up to the BBC studios for an afternoon filming , We only got to see Maiden, the rest of the programme went out live later that evening with a different audience.... We got given a Rock In Rio t-shirt for our efforts ... Great day out
It's right at the top of his vocal range in several places, I guess he's saving his breath inbetween the loud bits. Hard song to sing, especially like he does. I'm just amazed he's still got it.

a real low point , I remember bruce saying in kerrang back in the day "run to the hills number 12 , top of the pops can fuck off" i lived my life by that line , fuck commercial music and fuck what everybody tells you to listen to and fuck bullshit like top of the pops and modern day x ,factor be yourself and you will be true to your ideals , sure you might not make as much money as the corporate whores but at least your honest , case in point , the velvet underground , made fuck all from any of their albums, LPs whatever you want to call them , but they were true to their ideals and they made amazing music without any compromise ( apart from the velvet underground and Nico )
So awful. I to this day have no idea why this track was their breakthrough in America! I just don't get it. I loved maiden so much that even bringing in dickyboy didn't completely put me off, probably bcoz beast was a strong album. But powerslave was the cut off point even though I bought the next 2, by '88 I was 16 and out of school and the world of extacy and free festivals left maiden looking like the rolling stones.....they weren't gonna stop unless you personaly killed them. Donington after adrian left was just the bitter end, seeing janick drop his guitar during iron maiden was so farcical I wanted to be back at work in that crappy warehouse. And this, this is so far from prowler they could be any bunch of old men! Phew! I feel better, had to get that off my chest! Sry folks, just an old maidenite venting here! Nothing to see, move on

Some people are saying it is rock-in-rio playback, but it is not. In rock-in-rio bruce speaks other words at times. This performance is live ok.
