An airboat is the perfect rescue vehicle - that was QUICK thinking on Eduardo's part! The vessel is even easy to get in and out of for seniors - how cool!
Michael and Eduardo: you two took the time and effort with your incredible empathy for those in dire need to rescue 100 people from their ravaged homes! God Bless You both for showing us the meaning of love for your fellow human beings in this most desperate time. My heart just broke for 85 yr old Bob who had just lost his wife and now this……but 2 angels came to him to show him there is still hope out there. This is a perfect example of showing our humanity for others instead of divisive talk and actions… to make these tough times more bearable.
This just shows that we, the people, cannot wait for the government to take action! THAT is usually WAY TOO SLOW. Think and act as a caring community - these two men are a perfect example of that!👏🏼
As a SWFL resident we appreciate YOU ALL for the outpouring of help and kindness. My heart 💜 Thanks you ! Your goodness shows humanity ❤. You are TRUE HEROES
This is a beautiful story of hometown people being hero’s to each other and helping their neighbors to safety. This should make you smile and thank God for people of action. ❤ Thank you
FYI EVERYONE: please have a whistle with you. It's cheap but very helpful in getting help at a time like this. Rescuers may not hear you, and you may not have enough "voice" to yell for help. BUT whistles could save you.
Bob would have been a victim of the slow recovery time and aftermath. I’m so happy you got him to safety. Where are you taking these people? The government stadium and hall situations arnt always good for elderly would be nice if they could be housed by volunteers or something temporary
Hope n pray he is with family. After everything he’s been through he is going to need them. My brother also drowned two years ago. He’d be there helping others try to rebuild as a contractor and construction worker of still alive. It was his heart to help others.
Thank God for people like you! This story touched my heart! You guys are awesome! We need to try to protect everyone but especially our elderly and our furry friends!
I learned from Charley, I left then. I saw this one coming. I ran to the east coast again . Can't trust these storms. Unpredictable. Thanks for saving people. Your Awesome.
I cry as I read all these stories but hope everyone continues to pray for them, so they know they are not alone Stay Strong Ft Myers we're all praying for you!!!
You have to be tough to live in Fla sometimes. We aren’t all golfing and having fun. Its been a struggle financially and emotionally. But I guess there’s people like us everywhere now.
GOD BLESS YOU YOUNG MEN FOR BEING SO COMPASSIONATE TOWARDS HUMAN LIFE & MAY GOD'S PROVISION BE UPON ALL WHO HAS EXPERIENCE THIS STORM. I'M NATIVE HERE IN FT MYERS & NEVER HAVE I SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. TO THE ELDER I THINK HIS NAME IS BOB MOMENT BY MOMENT MAY GOD FILL YOU WITH GREAT MEASURE OF STRENGTH PROVISON RELIEF & STABILITY MY CONDOLENCES TO YOU, AND TO ALL WHO HAVE LOST LOVE ONES IN THIS STORM.
UNITED WE STAND...or sit in our hero's boat. Thanks for putting the call out for your neighbors hombre. All support for Bob as he rebuilds his life. His wife made sure he was rescued. SWEETHEARTS FOREVER!
So glad God is in the business of saving people that can literally have the selflessness and ability to help save others. I pray the Angels in heaven have signed your names. GBY
Adversity unites people and loving bonds are formed deeply in their hearts forever. The destruction of property and so many lives is tragic, but there are many stories of love and heroism that hopefully will heal our political divides. God’s ways are not ours, but He loves us and tells us to love one another as He has loved us. This story so beautifully illustrates that love.
I've lived in Florida before and experienced hurricanes so I understand how dangerous it can be. However, I have one question for your governor: Why on earth did you wait so long before enacting evacuations? Earlier actions to call out for folks to evacuate could have saved so many lives that were lost. What kind of human being are you? Florida residents deserve better. So grateful these men stepped up to help out.
You do realize the governor isn’t a weathermen right? They go off what is being fed to them, told to them. What their weather advisors are telling them. … So another question is this, with the technology we have today, chasing storms and their trajectory, why did it take the weathermen so long to advise the governor to issue out an evacuation? … I do know that storms like hurricane Ian can change course very quickly. Some things are just out of a human beings control, like storms, like natural disasters. It’s easy to point the finger when we don’t put ourselves in another humans shoes.
Wow! It's just crazy to me that 2 weeks later, yall are still rescuing people. Up in NC and SC, around that time, we switched from rescue to body recovery. Glad yall were able to help get these people out.
I'm a little surprised that they had to be called since it seems like that might have known that folks could use their services. But, I am so glad that someone did take the initiative to make the call and put the chain of positive actions in place.
Thank you both for immediately taking action to assist so many survivors!! 🌟🌟🌟
Remarkable!
A disaster like this really defines the character of people. Florida has some of the best people anywhere. God bless them and their recovery.
