  • LightCastle Partners, in collaboration with Policy Exchange Bangladesh, recently co-hosted a roundtable discussion, bringing together industry leaders, experts, development partners, and government stakeholders to address critical challenges in the apparel industry of Bangladesh.
At the core of the policy roundtable’s objectives was a resounding call for strategic interventions to address pressing issues, including the dollar crisis, and exchange rate fluctuations in the apparel export market, the transformative impacts of the 4th industrial revolution, the implications of Least Developed Country (LDC) graduation, decarbonization, and geopolitical tensions, among others.
During the discussion, Md. Ariful Haque, Director General of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), noted that despite having one of the most liberal investment regimes, policies often do not achieve the desired results due to a gap between policymakers and industry stakeholders.
Therefore, to reach our target of $70 billion in FDI by 2014, greater engagement and collaboration between policymakers and industry stakeholders will be needed to ensure policies are timely and effective.
This event was a part of the Bunon 2030 initiative under the "Oporajita: Collective Impact on the Future of Work in Bangladesh" project, supported by The Asia Foundation and funded by the H&M Foundation. Learn more about the event: www.lightcastlebd.com/news/po...
