right! they should do more fun challenges together for sure! 👍 maybe next time they do the same foraging things but let the chef do his magic, then they all judge who got the better finds. 😁
Really love that the channel has expanded beyond just fishing. Don't get me wrong, love the fishing, but it's been super enjoyable seeing Carl & Alex exploring other new found passions.
Thank you to the RUclips algorithm for recommending me this episode! Well done to the both of you! I've been a chef for a long time and seeing you both not get too flustered standing in the presence of excellence was quite impressive! Good on ya lads!
This is officially my favorite Carl and Alex video ever. This was just so much fun to watch and gave me a good laugh at the end of it... Your guys content is incredible. Thank you.
For those that don't know Daniel is actually a fisherman himself. He's friends with Jim Shelley and they go fishing sometimes, and Jim and his wife dine in his restaurant which is how they met. Daniel also built his own carp lake. Fantastic video, really enjoyed this one.
This concept is absolutely brilliant. I could watch 100 more videos with same idea of catch/forage and cook for chefs! Glad this popped up in my recommend vids. Need more!
A true Michelin star chef. So great to see a chef of that level offering his advice. Very fun to watch! Well done! Also, as the professional he is, you’ll notice he never once doubted the freshness of the ingredients! So your efforts paid off! Really goes to show how quality ingredients and proper seasoning, keeping it simple, is HUGE. Well done to everyone.
Well done guys. A first class production at a whole new level, honestly better than most things on TV. Hilarious to watch from the beginning as we all know Alex is a talented chef, and quite experienced at foraging, and Carl enthusiasticallywent for it anyway. The difference in feedback in the restaurant had me crying with laughter. He wanted to adopt Alex and head but Carl. Well done, superb production!
I agree. I have just stumbled across this video through youtube algorithm. Recently took my mum to a local fish farm that I had no idea that it was on our doorstep. The foraging aspect was fantastic especially the bramble and apples reminds me of my childhood yet I still go foraging for fruits and carry bags with me when I find them. Hope to take some of those foraging classes to help me a bit more. Think you should make more videos like this from time to time. I've learnt a great deal
Amazing episode, i love the fact that u both created dishes in a professional restaurant yet failed to catch a fish between you... So funny and added to the entertainment. The salt to the raspberries, that sealed the title for me, brave move and deserved the victory Alex! Chef was clearly impressed! Look forward to your next vid guys 👍🏼
Really nice to see a top level Chef being so nice and inclusive. I hope others who might cook in his kitchen for a first time see this and it helps lower their fears.
Carl I hate to say I saw that trout escaping the second you walked away, made me laugh 🤣 another brilliant video C&A, love how you’ve mixed it up and done something different. Really enjoyed this one! Hope you both have a fantastic Christmas and new year 🤝
that is why you just don't leave them in the net like that, you have the fish hanging in the net and when you set the fish down, you make sure the net is fully over the fish and the you don't put the fish in the net in the opening of the net, you set the opening of the net off to the side of the fish so the fish is inside the net portion of the fish, but the rim of the net acts like a "seal" to keep the fish from flopping out. I agree, as soon as I saw how he set the fish down, I was like, "bye fish"
Fantastic! You guys are the real deal. I've been waiting for a good time to sit and watch this, so 4am on a Thursday morning seemed perfect. Anyway, aside from fishing and bird photography, it was the best 4am of my life. Entertaining, brilliantly told and just great fun. Thank you, again, for the moments of joy you bring. Kudos to Daniel Clifford, too, for being such a great sport! CBX
Love how you two Brothers get along seemingly so well to the extent you canput it all together and craft a career our out of it..Better still the sense of humour dry as Dust..Class act fellas..Keep it up ..looking forward to the next Vid
Fantastic video guys! We live in Cambridge and Midsummer house is incredible. Great to see Daniel and some of the team behind the restaurant in this video!!
This channel just gets better and better! And that’s something I never thought I’d say. I’d definitely be interested in more episodes like this. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
Probably one of the great cook off vids Ive seen. It was fun, light hearted, stressfull (gotta say kudos to the camera man not yelling "YOUR TROUT IS ESCAPING"! LOL) and enjoyable to watch. Thank you guys. avb
As others have said: I love it that you guys don't solely focus on fishing, but include tons of other interesting stuff. I love cooking as much as I can from scratch (especially Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Indian and Italian food), as well as living a sustainable life that includes catching, slaughtering, foraging and growing your own food, so I absolutely enjoyed the heck out of this vid :) Keep up the great work!
Thanks mate, wow. Happy you enjoyed it :) Haha, yeah so much work, and nerve wracking, but so fun. Fair play to Daniel for letting us into his kitchen 🤣
love the edit at the beginning which i originally thought was a bad edit where it shows a clear 19 and 21 score, having me believe i knew who had won until the dessert scores make an appearance! a really good watch. thanks
Ive watched the majority of your content over the years, the Carl vs Alex ones are my favourite this one really did make me laugh! Thanks and well done, keep it up!
So dang awesome congrats Alex the little chef you guys are too cute you always make me smile and laugh your parents should be proud of what they raised stay safe boys.
Good watch that boys! I'm a chef and to see the way you walked into a fully equipped professional kitchen and held your own was seriously impressive 👌🏼👍🏼
Random little tip I learned is that with nettles, do NOT be gentle, you being gentle causes you to get stung, whereas if you just go in with force and grab the nice top of the plant before throwing it into the your bag, jar, basket, whatever you shouldn't get stung at all or at least very minimally, I found this out from my mum who was talking to someone who found it out so she could make nettle jam I believe, and it genuinely does work, so for the types of nettles he was collecting you can actually be quite forceful with them and it'll protect you even better than some gloves, which at times just make it more complicated.
I think the reasons both the mango and the black berries deserve a 10 in creativity is because you need to have full confidence in your ingredient. You come to the realization that this ingredient is so great that any transformation is a disservice to the dish.
As a chef of 20+ years, I really love and appreciate this 🤘 I absolutely love the fishing but this is next level. Keep it up fellas, you're riding high😎
@@fishwithcarl it's a tricky and mentally exhausting business, especially this time of year! But you boys are smashing it! You're both seem so down to earth and relatable. keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep enjoying the updates 👌
Can’t say much else except another great video. Unfortunately I didn’t get the notification saying you guys had uploaded which is why I’m so late to watching the video. But over all plenty of giggles and an amazing video.
This is the cool thing about RUclips, Where you have World class chefs going wow! When seeing the ingredients they have collected and the, “I’ve been a chef for 30 years and never made my own salt”
This was an awesome idea loved this I'm a trained cook and I also love foraging this never thought of bringing the two together I might try this for some other cooks I know
OMG this video was hilarious 😂😂😂! And the best part is about the fish: this is a fishing channel and The only thing they can't catch was actually the fish part 😂😂😂😂 Great video! Cheers from Italy
I was belly laughing by the end of this guys, absolutely loved it and would love to see more. Had a real old-school Top Gear vibe, top notch content 😂😂
Haha this is definitely one of my favorite episodes ever. I love how creative you got with the little food you got. And how you managed not to catch a fish - which I thought would be easy cake for you ;)
Top film boys the best two fisherman on RUclips by far for fishing and just watching your enthusiasm urges Me to get out fishing keep going and making these brilliant films for everyone 🤩🥳😁
Loved it boys and I have been following you since you were kids. From Richard from France. Keep going it’s amazing. You should make a challenge in France or the uk like Matt Hayes did. 20 days catching all the species you can find in the river. People would vote for this and would love it. Bonne chance!
Making Smoked Coho and Wild chantrelle fried rice while watching you guys. Love eating wild! It's a way of life here in Alaska! You ever make it up this way I'll take you on a fish and forage 😉
That chef was awesome. Fully engaged and interested in you guys and your work. Laughed so hard at admitting the fish was from market. Hahaha
Hahah glad you enjoyed! that was a painful moment! the day we couldn't catch a fish when we needed to.
right! they should do more fun challenges together for sure! 👍 maybe next time they do the same foraging things but let the chef do his magic, then they all judge who got the better finds. 😁
Good idea!!
Really love that the channel has expanded beyond just fishing. Don't get me wrong, love the fishing, but it's been super enjoyable seeing Carl & Alex exploring other new found passions.
Mee too.
Thank you Rory! It’s been fun to try new things and make unusual videos, keeps it interesting for the viewers hopefully too!!
"Some of the mushrooms you can only eat once", classic Carl.
This has got to be the best comment 😂
I thought it was Alex that said that... maybe I was wrong.
@@Krfification101 Alex was the guy fishing.

Well done boys and hats off to Daniel for being such a good sport and generous with his praise.
mans had the thoughtfulness and respected you enough to finish your dish even with the critiques I think he might be quite a nice chef to work with

Chefs do not win Michelin stars
The chefs do win them for the restaurants, and therefore are Michelin starred chefs

Wonderfully entertaining! Kudos to the chef for allowing you in. What a great guy!

Ahh glad to hear it did you good, thanks so much Mark :)
The channel really had come a long way and loving the direct its going in, its great that all my passions are now in one channel
Shrooms n fish are classic combination. Tying that foresty note in with the pine tea might have been a more genius move than you would have imagined
This was properly class. Daniel was brilliant too, keep this direction going chaps!!! Cheeeeers
