Measure the distance that's not covered on the passenger side and use velcro and some of the material that was discarded to make that small area blacked out.

I would have used a tension shower rod with curtain rings and added velcro to each side to close the gaps. This looks too difficult and not too sturdy.

Use 2 curtains. And put a hook in the middle to hold up tension. So essentially both curtains meet in the middle like a double door 😁

Just an idea: a binder clip (even a smallish one) is going to have a lot more holding tension than the 3M clips. You can attach it with a screw or two through the finger grasp. Also, I've been watching your channel so much lately that I dreamed last night that I moved into a van I built myself with some serious Tardis level interior space. It even had a wine cellar! LOL! Ah, dreams.

I use an adjustable rod. As you turn it right, it locks, and is not moving. My husband jammed both ends under a space beneath the cabinets above the driving area. I have two more in the back. One for hanging cloths, and the other for decoration.

The first time I lived in my minivan, I used a tension shower curtain rod, but I made a seam in the top part and put the rod in the bottom pocket , that created a ruffle at the top which really helped to keep any light from being seen! I know, I'm late to the party! 🤣💜ps they make tension rods as long as a football field! 😂

If you cut a slit in the middle of the curtain you can go in and out of your cabin without having to slide the curtain to the side.

My van had a curtain rod. It did the job quite well, my sister sewed the curtains on my van as you mother did. Sure, there was the gap at the end of the curtains which goes along with the curvature of the wall of the van, but like you I found it to be very minimal and it was almost impossible to look in from the outside, but easy to look outside from the inside through that gap. Like you, I mostly kept it closed unless I was driving somewhere and I had a passenger in the back. When my grandmother bought that van new in 1969 long before it was mine, I was the passenger riding in the back as a child. She didn't have the privacy curtain back then, I added it later on when I owned that van. Such wonderful memories, but that would be illegal anymore.

command strips tape don't hold well in heat and cold, I ended up using screws to hold my clamps. I think I would have used a cup hook in the center. You can add some heater tubing to the outlet and direct it towards the back of the van

The wire droops because it is a wire. The wire is no good and will also stretch with use and time. You can get small thin curtain rods or dowel rods, and it will work much better for you. Why spend so much time and nickel and dime a dozen "fixes" trying to trouble shoot a cheap or shoddy set up. The majority of time doing something right the first time is always better than trying to jerry rig and repeatedly fix a bad job. If you choose to insulate with a double curtain, instead of using that wool stuff you can use quilt batting. It comes in sheets for this exact purpose and if you want to spend a little more you can get it in wool as well. Yes anything will add to the weight. The poly fill batting would be lighter, but I honestly think you will still end up needing to buy a very thin dowel rod and curtain brackets and go that way when it is said and done anyways. You could also look for camper curtain tracks. Put a small piece under the cabinet doors and then hook the curtains to the track clips. I would imagine finding some at a junkyard you might get them dirt cheap. They even put them in pop up campers.

Hello! Just a heads up on the privacy curtain. I've seen it where people with adhere Velcro or magnets to the sides of the curtain where it meets the car/van on either side. That way it conforms to those odd openings. Just a thought. Good luck. Everything's looking great!**

You have one panel. I have two. So when I drive I can either leave the drapes closed or I open them and the tie them with a pretty two pretty scarves. Mine are black. At night I close them and use my hair clips to keep them closed, because that’s when I take out my toilet and put the refrigerator back in the back as opposed to in between the seats up front.

I have probably watched a hundred RUclips videos about how to provide privacy to the back of my van, a Honda Odyssey whose headliner and interior seems to be impervious to anything sticking to it. Even heavy duty Velcro will not stick. Plus nothing at the top of the van ceiling is even either. To block out the back from the front I've taken to using a bungee cord hooked on the top of the molding on each side and then just clipping up a curtain, but that still leaves a gap. I have a windshield shade which totally covers the front window, one side silver the other black, and then if I have the reflectix on the front side windows that pretty much blocks everything from the front even with a less than perfect curtain blocking the front from the back. I have even tried using Gorilla Tape which sticks to anything and that won't hold either.
For anyone who is where it's cold enough now to frost the windshield or it snows, if you put on a windshield cover on the outside it will totally block everything as well as keeping your windshield and mirrors clear of snow and ice. I bought one on Black Friday on Amazon and it perfectly fits my van and once I figured out how to put it on it only takes a minute to do it, but saves a lot of time the next morning. Plus it keeps your wipers and that vent area dry where ice and snow accumulate.

On mine I bought 4 curtain panels like the one that you have. Attached them to a curtain rod and there's enough fabric I just have it bunched up all the way across, kinda like home curtains. My setup is a little different in that I have a metal divider behind each seat from floor to ceiling with the center open so that area is covered by the curtain which looks better with my setup in my opinion. Having multiple panels allows me to keep them closed and still able to get through to the back by finding where the panels come together. 👌

I’ve used a curtain tension rod in my car. It allows me to fix to the very widest part of the car in front of my seats or behind if driving, with no visible gaps. I like two curtains fixed with clip at overlap in middle. Also is strong enough to hold heavier curtains and no sagging. I use, as you did, for a different reason, a headband to hold curtains back when driving with backseat passengers. Wish I could make videos with such confidence. Great job 👏

    • @travelsnacks

I thought of that too but the curtain fully covers the wire so the material would probably bunch up on the hook. But good suggestion!

I have a suggestion..habe ur mom the awesome seamstress take the pieces she cut off and make so.w wings on the side like on a maxi pad lol that fold out and add velcro to the edge where those scarfs are at.. it will look nice and voilà...more privacy! U can also add a snap or another piece of velcro to the curtain part when u want to fold it back on the curtain when not using the wings ...if that makes any sense at all lol. Pm me if u want a diagram
