Stoicism encourages the acceptance of reality as it is, without undue emotional reaction. This involves acknowledging circumstances, people, and events without being overly attached or disturbed by them.

Growing up, I was fatherless for the most part... Got drawn into a bad crowd, spent time in prison... Then, a few years after I was released, I listened to an interview... Tim Ferris interviewing Jocko Willink... And I started adopting mentors, whom I will never meet. Jocko Willink, Joe Rogan, Cameron Hanes, Peter Attia, Tim Ferris, William McRaven, Seneca, Marcus Aurelius... And man... Life is tough as ever... But better than ever.
I like the popular vote perspective as well. Thanks for bringing this up. Should we also create a third party as a way to create the need to "cross the isle" and negotiate on the laws more deeply? Who should be the focus of a third party? Labor/Unions? Science professions? Minorities? Some unrepresented aspect of conservatism to balance it all out. How would this change Congress as a whole? I also agree that the Supreme Court needs term limits and oversight that is external to the supreme court. Businesses are synthetic entities and should not be allowed to have any financial influence of our government in any form. Many people feel this would weaken America as a whole but a three-party system would address a number of perspectives that have been suppressed or ignored in the past. This would bring a new perspective to America that could balance the Republican influence. I started to review Stoic concepts again since going over this back in my college years (1972-1976) along with other philosophical structures. I am now seeing this from a different perspective after all of these years and I am glad that I am going back into this at this time.
Michael Porter and Katherine Gehl have some amazing works that they have done out of the Institute for Political Innovation (IPI). Great meditation to start the day=]
I really appreciate your stoicism content but I feel like you threw away a really good opportunity to ask this man what his great-great-grandfather was hiding in the national parks.
Preserving the wondrous beauty of nature for future generations in a time of rampant destruction of said nature in the name of “progress” (and greed) has a secret agenda now does it? The earth isn’t flat either….
