    Jurassic Park is easily my favorite movie. I personally would love to get some deleted scenes on disc.
    Also, if you want to know the T. Rex got into the visitors center, look right behind her. The wall wasn't finished and is only covered by a plastic sheet. That's also how the second Raptor got inside.

      Jurassic park definitely my top favorite movies of all time! Forget jurassic world. Those trilogy sucks! I wish we had jurassic park prequels for tv show. And sequels for jurassic park trespasser, jurassic park fallen down, and jurassic park dominion about bioysn. That would be so awesome! Well, of course We'll have the lost world jurassic park too!

    Very thorough and in-depth commentary. Covers all the bases well.
    I have never heard of the James Earl Jones bit. It only makes sense if he was on stand by if they couldn't get Richard Kiley to do it as Spielberg really wanted to replicate that portion of the novel faithfully.
    There was also apparently footage of Grant and the kids interacting with Motion sensors in the park (just before they climb a tree for the night) and also a motion sensor CAN be seen in certain cuts of the film when the Explorers first enter the rex paddock. (the latter isn't strictly a deleted scene per se, but it is a lost bit of lore and is omitted in quite a few cuts of the film and present in others). Moreover there is another "extended" take scene that you missed. It occurs just before Grant and the Kids reach the perimeter fence. there is a picture (available in various media such as the Golden Book version of JP *Welcome to Jurassic Park* ) that shows grant walking with the kids in the jungle in a location resembling that area.
    A final thing you didn't comment on, regarding alternate or planned scenes, featured Ray Arnold. Apparently Jackson was asked to come to hawaii to film his death scene but Hurrican Iniki ruined the set for that and so they just cut the scene out. in the same vein, ray's "body" was set to appear in the film along with his severed arm but was deemed too fake looking iirc so it was also cut out.
    We won't likely ever see these scenes unless something like the divorce discussion on the VC steps happens where a press kit sees the light of day (a similar thing happened in TLW sequel that actually resolved a TLW plot hole during Malcolm and Hammond's scene together). Spielberg is very against divulging or releasing anything outside the theatrical cut because he views that as the total film and how it is meant to be seen. It doesnt help that his two forays into Star Warsing his films were met harshly. Close Encounters filmed entirely new footage that was hated on and ET made changes to the film that were severely panned. So I doubt he wants to venture into his completed films again outside of retrospective documentaries. Spielberg will block deleted scenes coming out until his dying day and the original JP films are not exactly current pop culture to be revisited outside of an anniversary (best chance might be like a 40 or 50th anniversary of the film). As much as people complained, Lucas revealing a lot of cut content is one of the good things that came with his control over his films.
    And that's the end of that dissertation.

    • @JPOG7TV
      @JPOG7TV 3 года назад

      I think we might have a better chance nowadays due to how big Jurassic World has become. 30th anniversary is coming up soon so maybe they’ll decide to do something for a collection of both trilogies.
      Though it’s funny hearing Lucas having control was a good thing considering what he did to the Star Wars prequels.

    • @scottb3034
      @scottb3034 3 года назад +1

      @@JPOG7TV I don't see it unless Spielberg somehow allows it. What I hope for a 30th anniversary is a true new remaster from the master negative of the film (the transfer to HD would look SO MUCH better then) and for many of the flubs in the movie to be cleaned up (the 3D version has a new audio mix, has potted plants and lights removed, the spiderweb on the camera at the end removed and stuff like the safety cables on the explorer when it is flipped removed). A truly better copy. Ala the jaws anniversary remaster.
      Not holding my breath on any more deleted scenes for 20-30 years.
      Also I did qualify the Lucas statement that it was about his freedom and willingness to let us look behind the curtain that was a positive, in spite of his reputation for his movies. Albeit I enjoy his prequels as well and think sith is up there with episode 4 and 5 as the 3rd best star wars movie. Shrug.

      @@scottb3034 I'm a bit hesitant to trust that the movie would look better on modern screens, though. It was filmed for film, just as retro video games were made for CRT screens in their heyday. The softening that the lower resolution gave it likely helped hide some of its imperfections and effects. Whereas if they're in full high-detail, then any parts lacking in detail (or with inaccurate detail) may stick out a lot worse than re-watching the original releases on their native media.
      We already get a lot of folks using emulators or their big digital TVs to play Super Nintendo games, and feeling like "Oh, I guess these graphics didn't age well. I must've been looking back at them with rose-tinted glasses." But that's not entirely the case at all. Put those back on a CRT screen, and a GREAT number of them look MUCh better!
      Even modern games played on CRT monitors (with the right set-up to keep the picture from getting squished) end up benefitting and somehow looking better in many cases. It's very difficult to see examples online, because well, CRTs are hard to record from properly, and even then we'd still be seeing a compressed digital version of the footage, so we can't truly see the difference for ourselves without also using specialized CRT hookups and settings, and of course the screens themselves. Which are getting more difficult to find.
      (Though at least as of 2009 there were still some active manufacturers of these screens, and services to rent them for retro gaming parties and stuff, due to the authenticity that can't be replicated today, even with filters that claim to do so.)
      The movie looked SPECTACULAR at its time, and still looks VERY GOOD now. And I would LOVE for a remaster to make it look just as good, without having to update the CG models or do anything drastic to the footage. And maybe it WOULD be possible. But, I'd also be nervous about the results, for the reasons stated above. It would likely end up needing some entire re-animations in many places, or otherwise may finally look dated, a sad fate indeed to such a work of art.
      Even these uploads online, or watched on modern TVs on DVD, it already suffers compared to the same movie on a VHS popped into a VCR and plugged into an old boxy heavy TV. It would need just the right magic touch to feel as amazing as it once has on modern equipment. We can only hope...

    • @scottb3034
      @scottb3034 3 года назад

      @@ZaCloud-Animations___she-her the models may need to be modernized...or at least touched up but then again, some CGI in the film holds up well in 4k today even with a shoddy transfer of the picture (though maybe that helps it). I still stand by the bad transfer from the master hurting the film quality and CGI in areas and if given a proper jaws-like remaster it would look even better and not quite as badly aged as you fear.
      Those retro games you mentioned can look spectacular if properly done, the Sonic Mania which is just largely a glorified update of the Sega Sonic games looks absolutely incredible, better than it ever did on CRT. Jurassic Park given the proper treatment like that can work out too.

    glad you mentioned the scene with the leaf. there was an alternate take of that, seen from further back, and she leans further out of the car, that was used in the pay-per-view commercials for the film, shown on the tv guide channel when the film hit PPV. it stood out because i had never seen it before, and because i always wondered where she got the leaf.

    11:31 I saw "Jurassic Park" in theaters in 1993 (yeah, I am that old): the "Rex saves the day" scene played out exactly the same way people can see it now on UHD BR or on streaming. I still own the original VHS release and it was the same movie I had seen on the big screen about a year earlier down to the last frame - save for the fact the image was not cropped for 1.85:1 and instead showed the complete height of the original negative but not the full width, as "Jurassic Park" was filmed in 1.37:1 Academy for a widescreen frame extraction and the VHS release was in 1.33:1 (4:3). Some fans just like to make shit up.

Right after they arrive on the island by heli and take the jeep, Sattler grabs a big leaf while they are driving and starts talking about it. Then, as you said, they pull up and stop by the Brachiosaur and they have always kept the part where she says "this shouldn't be here."

    11:09 To note, the idea of having the Tyrannosaur skeleton fall on and subsequently kill the Velociraptors was actually recycled in the Jurassic Park for the Sega Genesis. Obviously the game takes some liberties, what with Grant being able to pick up grenades and the like along the way, using said weapons to dismantle the suspended skeletons. In fact, the Jurassic Park games use some lore from the books. Grant's final stage in Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition for the Sega Genesis pays major homage to the river scene in the book.

Steven asked him about upcoming projects and told him about JP and Spielberg basically asked Universal to do whatever to buy the rights before the novel was published. Other studios tried to steal it but friendship won out. The rest is history.

    First film with Lex and Tim being at Jurassic Park while thier mom is filing for divorce
    Second film Malcoms daughter is from a previous marriage
    Third film, Eric Kirby is being searched for by his parents who also got divorced before the events of the film.
    Fourth film is pretty much the first one but with establishing scenes instead of a line from a side character.
    Fifth film doesn’t have any kids with divorced parents because the kid in that film is a clone. Maybe her parents also got divorced before or after she died but there’s nothing official yet.

There was a T-rex breaking through wall scene in the theatrical version I watched and I clearly remember that I was disappointed when I realized it was not included in my gifted VHS cassette the first time I watched it in 1994. Her scenes were filmed BEFORE the hurricane hit, which believe it or not incorporated some of bits from Samual's death. Both her tripping over his leg and then losing her shirt due to a raptor grabbing it were partially filmed and if you look you can find stills of his leg on the floor XD however, due to the hurricane hitting and again sam's stuff not being filmed those bits were utterly cut from the movie, leaving her loss of shirt and her limp due to tripping over the leg a mystery.... until NNNOOOOOWWW. Same thing happened in ALIEN too, Ripley's nose bleed is from a partially unfilmed scene where they tried to blast the alien out in to space ((and it stared at a red spinner light lol)).

    -when the cars arrive in front of the visitor center the shot is longer and you see them emerging from an underground garage
    -the lysine contengency scene is longer

    (Edit… Yes, somebody else mentioned the Genesis game… but I have more insight on it. I’m sorry but it wasn’t “recycled” unless a designer specially thought it was more exciting, but that likely wouldn’t get past studio approval… sssshhh, don’t worry about that volcano level)…
    You could also note that the T-Rex skeleton being used to crush the raptors was also used for the end of the Sega Genesis version of the game. Specifically the Alan Grant story arc. As you could play as either Grant or as a Raptor trying to escape the island. There is even a River level. Likely indicating that the team had a guide or other document for the movie and couldn’t change their levels to reflect the final version of the movie before release. (Plus cutting that River level would just shorten the game)
    The game release in August of the same year while the movie released in June. This may seem like a long time but the game would require testing and a not-insignificant amount of time from going “gold” to actually being on store shelves. Cartridge production, testing(with actual carts), packaging and shipping.
    Also , as someone who saw this film 7 times in theaters when I was 10(sshhhh, don’t worry about the rating)… I swore for YEARS, and still do, that the “Ellie picks a Leaf” shot was in the theatrical cut. Although I do admit it’s possible that I was merging the memory of the trailer with the film. I was on about this a lot, along with all of the cut shots from Star Wars that made their way back into the Special Edition or the THX remaster or wherever… that’s a deep rabbit hole but the entire thing just felt like archeology. That pesky and illusive “Luke building a Lightsaber” shot.
    These shots belong in a museum!
    Oh, and my 10year old self doesn’t seem to recall a shot of the Rex busting into the Visitor Center. Although it is pretty clear that there’s a large opening right next to the door. So there’s that. But who knows. With stuff like this I like to reference the theatrical release of Clue. A film very much before my time but still. Check it out if you haven’t. Apparently some(most?) theaters would just print which version they were showing in the schedule instead of keeping the viewers in the dark about the… things… that they did. Have you seen it?

    I really love all your stuff. However, I don't think you have to duplicate the effort of the movie in setting up its plot entirely. You use clips to do that very effectively at the beginnings of your videos.

    Can you do Lion King, Star Wars and Planet of the Apes? And the rest of the JP films
    There’s also the idea that the trike ate poisonous plants but maybe that’s just the novel.

    I always wanted a copy with the "Ellie grabs leaf" shot in it for no real reason lol I really wanted to know about how they had remade the plants that had been extinct. It feels like they had a moment of logic and really pushed to suppress the idea of cloning plants from the past. Really would have loved a little more between Lex being sneezed on and the three of them walking through the forest too. It felt like a big jump in time.

    About Ellie´s shirt missing after being attacked by the raptor and meeting Alan again can only be because of this,,,, they are in Costa Rica,,, its fucking hot out there so go figure she wanted to take away a little clothing or two.
