Just saw this .. was hoping it would never had an end .. It speaks to those who listen ... “ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOURSELF,EVEN IF NO ONE ELSE DOES “.
This was unexpected! Such a great film with a great cast. The music was exceptional, too. Go watch!
I swear, Tracee Ellis Ross deserves to be in this music industry! She made her mom Diana Ross so proud.
this looks like it should have come out at least 10 years ago.
The script was on the Black List for a while. It probably doesn't break any new ground but it looks like a good movie to me.
The trailer voice makes it sooooo outdated fr
With such the Unique Sounding Voice ...
Traci can excel in any music genre..💛💛
I Saw the movie yesterday and I love this movie a lot and the songs in the movie are excited.
i saw this movie too was actually better than i expected
man who knew Tracee Ellis Ross could sing?! can’t wait to see it!
Must be in the genes, her mom is Diana Ross. 🙂
If you watched girlfriends you could tell she was hiding a talent❤
I FUCKING CRIED AT THE END. IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL!! TRUELY AMAZING. only people who have sensitive feelings would understand. So don't come for me. I'm only human ❤️
I can't wait to see this!!!
why does Dakota Johnson look the same in EVERY SINGLE MOVIE?
@FilmGamer true, her fringe covers her forehead beautifully hence she is wearing same hairstyle all the time, but her fashion is also the same and she could do like shorter hair or different color, anything... she just looks like the exact same character in each and every film.
It’s called type-casting.
Such a beautiful movie. Loved the songs! Bawled at the end :’)
i swear this movie is one of My Favorite ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Looks like a must see❤ can't wait to watch .
Loved it, have seen multiple times
Really enjoyed this movie!! The songs in the movie is so good..
Awesome performance the cast was brilliance five stars two thumbs up💥💥💥💥💥💯🖤🖤🖤🖤🤞🏾
In 2016, there was Sia with Cheap Thrills. In 2000, there was Madonna with Music. In 1999, there was Cher with Believe. In 1989, there was Bette Midler with Wind Beneath my Wings. We haven't had a black woman over 40 since 1986 with Tina Turner's What's Love Got to do with It? At least this movie has got a point. We do have Lizzo who got Truth Hurts to no. 1 in 2019 who is currently 32.
Nicki Minaj is 37. Stream Say So Remix for her to get her well-deserved #1.
Its probably gonna be beyonce, shes over 40, every woman on this planet basically worships her and she makes decent hits.
This movie is going to bomb. People in Pennsylvania do not want to be lectured to or told that they need to improve by anyone from Hollywood. Stardom isn’t a thing anymore. Cult of Personality isn’t sought. Character over Content. Yep, that’s what America wants: 🎶 “Say Goodbye...Say Goodbye to Hollywood...say goodbye ...say to goodbye to Hollywood “🎶 Thank you Marshall, man ahead of his time....this movie is going to BOMB 💣
Lewis Alvarez Beyoncé is talentless. And your admiration is something she laughs at over dinner in another country. She refers to people as yourself as “useful idiots”....let them eat cake...nobody with a brain worships a celebrity. Worship The LORD !! . “For HE So Loved the World, that he gave his ONLY Begotten Son, So that Whosoever Shall Believe In HIM, Shall NOT Perish, But Shall Have ....Everlasting LIFE” AMEN TO GOD !! -John 3:16
Jason Bontrager Beyoncé is the performer of our generation. Her on-stage energy and and vocal power remain unmatched
It was worth the wait…I had no idea she could sing but the apple don’t fall too far from the tree and I was shocked because I think she is a great actress and had no clue that her mother Was the Big D
Great film, loved it! Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross worked fab together. Great acting. Kelvin Harrison is a cutie pie, not sure if that actually was his voice singing in the film but if it was, he should be a recording artist. Hope they make a part 2.
Yeah. That's his voice
"In the history of music, only 5 women over 40 have ever had a number 1 hit - and only one of them was black" ... actually, at the time of filming it was 8 women, 2 of whom were black (its now 9, of whom 3 were black): shockingly, the number of Latinas in that select group is zero ... the 9 are Cher, Madonna, Tina Turner, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Warnes (with Bill Medley), Grace Slick (as part of Starship), Sia and Bette Midler.
the movie was fantastic and motivational and inspiring. ♥️
Fantastic movie! Loved it, hope they campaign for Original song if we even have awards season.
BELLISSSSIMO !!!! E LA CANZONE FINALE MAGICA
Definitely been waiting for this movie! Loved the trailor & entire cast!
Where can I NOT GO SEE THIS

It’s a over hyped advertisement for nepotism....and it’s not going to touch Walk the Line ...The Doors....OR Lady Sings The Blues as a film.....I know great music....and film.....and I could give a shit less what ya think of moi......
@@patriciaeroz5828 Your comment is the most idiotic thing I've ever read. Don't you have anything better to do, than attack someone over an opinion? You probably recorded the movie, so that you could watch it, after a long day of protesting, and burning down the businesses in your town. Weirdo.
@draylie _ Don't be mad. The movie sucks. Get over your feelings. Thanks.
Lol
I would definitely see this in theaters. If theaters were still open.
That's why they're saying On Demand
@@tyatkins2251 Yes. I understand that. On demand isn't the same fun experience as a movie theater in my opinion.

I agree 100%, for some reason I wonder if this cure gonna come anytime soon or not
Loved the movie!
This movie was amazing, I saw it back in January!!
Enjoyed the movie. Awesome cast.
This is next level.
❤️Loved this movie! It should have been a theatre movie!
This gone be goooood!
Love the movieee! The songs of this movie is 🔥🔥🔥. The main actress, Ellis Ross, is Diana Ross' daughter.
Cant wait to see it. And for the haters give it a chance before you judge,
I watched it ,it was amazing🤗
Just go watch Lady Sings the Blues again
I just finished watching the movie like literally just now. The movie is not that bad. I like their songs tho
Awesome movie!

I love to see Dakota she did great everything is great I did work for an artist not a famous and it’s not easy for people working in the back stages they should have more respect and understanding
Where can you watch this
It's good, watch it
When it coming to the uk
Wow🤗 my Dakota😍
I'm watching the movie now. I am half way through it.
*It's basically like a West Coast version of The Devil Wears Prada*
It's good though, I am enjoying it.
Where can i find the song at the end???
Big fan of Tracee's. It will be fun to see if she can pull this off which is pretty much off her track.
Loved it!
So basically she's doing a short tribute to her mother Diana Ross.
Who is diana's ross??...
@jermi Peoples who is she??...
Nope, not even close. It stands on it own, it's more like a hybrid of Whitney/Mariah
i love Tracee and cant wait to see this movie.
I love her too!!!!!!!!❣️
What chanel does it come on?
Good cause I really wanted to see this in theaters
They revealed the whole movie !
Ameiiiiii❤❤
1:17 - At the time THE HIGH NOTE was filmed, it was true what Tracee Ellis Ross' character says, that there'd only been five women over 40, one of them black, with a No. 1 Hot 100 hit -- IF you only count those not sharing lead billing. If you include female artists equally billed on collaborations by that time, the overall number grows to nine, four of them black.
And since the movie was completed, with the long-awaited ascent of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" to the top, the numbers have grown to 10 and five, respectively, again, IF we include equal billings on collaborations.
Screenwriter Flora Greeson's group of five obviously consisted of *TINA TURNER, BETTE MIDLER, CHER, MADONNA* and *SIA.* Only the last one on the list had another act billed on the Hot 100-topper she scored after turning 40: "Cheap Thrills" is by Sia featuring Sean Paul.
But I think an artist should be recognized for sharing lead billing on a chart-topper, so I would have included the four women listed below. Three happen to be black and first-billed on the singles that accomplished that feat:
1) In January 1986, *DIONNE WARWICK* scored a No. 1 hit at age 45 with "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne & Friends, from her album FRIENDS. The pals who joined her on what would become the Hot 100's No. 1 single of '86 were Gladys Knight (41 at the time, by the way!) Elton John and Stevie Wonder.
2) In June 1986, *PATTI LABELLE* conquered the Hot 100 at 42. In LaBelle's case, it was with the Michael McDonald duet "On My Own." _Side note: When the album WINNER IN YOU, which spawned that single, topped the Billboard 200 in July 1986, LaBelle scored another point for women of a certain age, bumping then 20-year-old Janet Jackson's CONTROL from No. 1._
3) In April 1987, *ARETHA FRANKLIN* was 45 when she hit No. 1 with the George Michael duet "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)" from her '86 album ARETHA.
4) In November 1987, "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" from the movie DIRTY DANCING by Bill Medley and *JENNIFER WARNES,* then 40, topped the Hot 100.
So if including those sharing lead billing, Ross' character, Grace Davis, would have said, "In the history of music, only NINE women over 40 have ever had a No. 1 hit, and only FOUR of them were black."
This is the complete list of women 40 and over who'd hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 as a solo, lead or co-lead artist at the time THE HIGH NOTE was filmed:
1) *Tina Turner,* 44 (1984)
2) *Dionne Warwick,* 45 (1986)
3) *Patti LaBelle,* 42 (1986)
4) *Aretha Franklin,* 45 (1987)
5) *Jennifer Warnes,* 40 (1987)
6) *Bette Midler,* 43 (1989)
7) *Cher,* 52 (1999)
8) *Madonna,* 42 (2000)
9) *Sia,* 40 (2016)
So the situation for a middle-aged female artist, while understandably concerning for Grace, isn't quite as bleak as she sees it.
_Note: Months after THE HIGH NOTE's release, Mariah Carey topped the pop chart at 50 with "All I Want for Christmas is You," originally a huge radio hit when she was 25. It wasn't eligible to enter the Hot 100 when it was initially popular in 1994 because of rules at the time against including songs not released as singles on CD, cassette or vinyl._
@Jeff NYC Thank you for the stats and breakdown of actual No.1s by women in music hisrory. But only 10 women in 60 years is beyond bleak. It's downright criminal.
I just love Dakota!
SING JA JA DING DONG!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watching this movie right now, so far it's good 👍👍
I didn't know Riley Reid did this kind of acting....
This would have blowed theatres totally
blowed in a good way or bad way?
Didnt she tell the boy that she works for Grace at the party? And in the climax he was like I don't know you work for Grace
Will this be shown on Netflix
I’m wondering this too
Anything that Dakota Johnson is in it i am going to watch it. this girl brings smile in my face each time i see her.
Frodo H wonder why

Movie was rlly good. Very underrated
Looks nice, hope it is.
how this trailer has 7 million of views and only 300 likes?
it's an advertisement
I'm here because of "Janky Promoters"
Ice Cube playing Jerry Heller
I feel like this trailer is misleading. Watching the movie, the Grace/Maggie storyline is probably second to the romance between Maggie/David, but you would barely know that plot exists from watching the trailer. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, but I feel as though someone who watches the trailer is going to be surprised at how much of the film is taken up by that story.
Im just watching cuz Ice Cube and the comedy.
But mainly cuz of Ice Cube
The music seems terrible, but the movie looks like it's worth a watch

Emmm, unless you are one of the producers.
I'm not sure how I feel about Johnson's comedic talent - or about the eversame "invisible assistant outdoes the star - plot" - but this sure looks entertaining!
This actually looks like a delightful film. I will peep it out.
However, there have been PLENTY of successful female artists over 40. Erika Badu, Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot, Patti Labelle and so on...

@@aceace348
1987 - Aretha Franklin, “I Knew You Were Waiting For Me” (45 years old)
1984 - Tina Turner, “What’s Love Got To Do With It” (44 years old, 9 months)
Whitney Houston - "Shoop"
Janet Jackson - several songs
The list goes on...
I just mean, there are several black female artists who had #1 hits after 40. Of course, I hate ageism and sexism. It seems to hit women a lot and it's unfair absolutely. However, I also think that no one should chase #1's. If you have a nice audience who will buy and support your music, you are blessed.
With that said, I am interested in a fun film about friendship. I will definitely watch this. I want to see feel good films again with no social agendas and just good stories and I think this looks fun. As a song writer myself, I am interested in how their friendship will affect their musical cooperation and how to women will kick ass against unfair critics.
You do understand this is a fictional film right? It's not basing it on realistic artists over 40.
@@siajacobs3793 Hey, I like the premise of the film. I will see it. It looks fun. But, if I am watching a film about the ninja turtles and they say, there has never been a super hero before... It would make me go hmmm.....
I think Tina Turner is the only female African American artist that actually had a number 1 as a solo artist on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
If Ellis Ross were to wear her hair in that upswept fashion, she'd be a spitting imagine of the Duchess of Windsor. Both women, at least to me, have similar bone structure in the face.
@Maria O' Connor "At least to me..." Those are the operative words.
@Maria O' Connor This'll be my last response, Maria. In the subjective world, there are no right or wrongs. A close-up of her showed off a tremendous similarity between the two women. But you have your OPINION and I have mine. Both subjective.

I want Black women to win (ALWAYS! 💜🤗) BUT I am just SO tired of us being infantilized and needing help in nearly EVERY depiction of our existence! Its simply NOT accurate. White folks do NOT (in general) allocate their lives and resources to making up for our oppression as Black people, least of all as Women specifically. Like why does this story of a Black woman fighting to be the 2nd in history to win a prestigious award during menopause feel like it centers...A YOUNG WHITE WOMAN??!? How is this BECKY'S story even tho the BW is TWICE her senior?!? Idk... I'm giving this one the STRONG side-eye for now, idc HOW many times you put it in an ad!...
Let me get this straight, you are pressed about a fictitious story that has a diverse cast from black, white, Asian? The producers are white, the writer is white, the director is Indian, what up Deja, I don't see you bitching about that. Bitch keep scrolling ain't nobody want you here.
@@siajacobs3793 dude leave. It's very clear you just came here to start conflict.
If you actually watched the trailer, this has very little to do with race, other than for Tracy Ross's character. This clearly isn't the story of a black woman asking a white girl for help. This is one of many stories of the music industry. Also this is a comedy, not a biopic. Grace Davis isn't a real person.
Look we are going to get our screen time, we are getting our screen time, so I don't know what the f*** this segregationist as attitude that so many black folks have in their head these days but quit. We live in the 21st century not the 19 f****** 50s. we get mad at white folks who act like they're in the 1950s so how about we not act like we're there? Cheer a sista on. A mixed sista at that. Damn.
@@TubezThe1 Why don't you leave? Sia clearly has a point here, we will be waiting for Deja's reply.

Because he has nothing to better to do with this life just like you don't. and also I'm not saying she's right. You clearly saw me call her out, or you glossed over because you wanted to say something.
This looks like it's definitely gonna flop.
"In the history of music only 5 women over 40 have ever had a #1 hit. And only 1 of them was black."
Self-righteous people: "I know, right? Such shameful racism."
Me (internally): Wait, 1 in 5 is 20%. Blacks make up 13% in the US, sooo...that's racial over-representation. Also is failing to get #1 hit reeeeeaaally the worst thing ever that I should feel sorry about? If I'm stuck inside my not-mansion during quarantine then you can fucking deal settling for a top 50 hit.
This is a way way way way way way way way off version of Ms Diana Rose Life.....It's very hard to be Ms Diana Ross even for her daughter.
This is from the director of Late Night, the most vanilla film of last decade that wanted to be woke so badly. Hard pass here.
It’s a pass for me. It’s like Disney and feminism it looks like it’s for every woman but really just hyping up and encouraging one part of the population of women
Can we give more POC screen time. Pretty bored of seeing a white girl as the main.
