1. We are sorry for the inconvenience but we have to divert due to weather. 2. I'm afraid I have some bad news and we need to divert once again. 3. Right, you're not gonna believe this guys! 😂😂😂 Wow 13 hours is a hell of a lot, most I've spent on an A320 is 7 hours on Vueling 7429 last August. Took off from BHX, diverted to LGW due to a medical emergency (we got to the Channel Islands) then continued on to TFS about an hour later.
I see that direct flights between Cyprus and Turkey are illegal. Is this because of the previous war in the 1970's between Turkey(Northern Cyprus) and Greece(Southern Cyprus)?
WOW :D I can imagine that passengers where really pissed when they heard about the first divert - but the second tops it all xDDDDDD Such a stupid rule really... great video mate!
LutonPlaneSpotter Absolutely. I don't know the regulations in Europe but the max amount of hours flown by one pilot (In USA and Can?) is I think 16 hours.
Unsub They might of done but if the crew is feeling okay the captain can issue a captaincy discretion so they can fly a little bit over their max hours to return to home base. They aren’t allowed to leave a home base though knowing they’ll enter discretion.
puuuh, what an experience! The worst case from my point of view is, that you cannot leave the aircraft during the stopovers! The EZY Crew handle this situation professional and give you updates at any time? Flight Crew change in ATH? How long was the bus drive to LCA?
Haha i was seeing the flight from Dalaman to Athens on flightradar24 and was wondering what the heck happened. No idea that you would be on board and i would see a trip report of that flight days later. Well done
Waw! What an unbelievable experience! 3 diversions in 13 hours and, at the end, you did not land at your destination! Quite funny but I can imagine how you were so tired at the end of this incredible journey! Glad to see that pax seemed to be calm (or too tired to complain) and F/A cooperative with at least drink service. However, if I hate flying on a 6 hour direct flight on a narrow body, I cannot envy you that you stayed on board for 13 hours on an A320! But I think that this is what makes your TR so unique! Great job!
Niki Svaizer Since Paphos and Larnaca are so close I assume that they just decided that they may as well fly to Paphos since the weather was clearer there. I was more thinking of the pilots doing overtime and getting fatigued!
James Funnell yeah you are right, the crew overtime is another aspect to be considered, since the diversion time exceeded the flight time back to LGW. I think that the LCA-LGW flight has been cancelled or delayed with pax transferred LCA -> PFO flying the next day on the same aircraft and crew.
Great video my friend. It must have been horrendous for you and your fellow passengers, but imagine what it must have been like for the two pilots. They must have been so tired. I know long haul pilots fly longer trips, but they don't have to do that many take offs and landings which is the stressful time for pilots. They did a good job as did the cabin crew getting you there safely.
Talk about the stuff of nightmares, should've just called it a day in Athens. But nonetheless you guys seemed to be so calm and understanding, which I'm sure all the staff appreciated
Great Review! It must have been a tiring experience for all of the flight crew and a passengers onboard! However all in all, the in-flight snack box seems pretty worth it for such a portion and the cabin with the new seats simply looks stunning! :)
I went on holiday to dalaman HV TURKEY Its Amazing definitely recommend it!(it was actully very close it was in sarigerme but we landed and took off at dalaman
Interesting documentation of this unique flight! Any crew change in between? As far as I know 13 hours is over the limit of flight time for two pilots.
I believe the worse part, is how politics acted as a barrier for everyday civilians to get home or to go on holidays. Shame on those who didn't allow the flight from Turkey to Cyprus.
I'm rather surprised that the pilot (or flight dispatcher) didn't know about this and decided to use a Turkish airport as the preferred alternate. The plane should've diverted to Athens or Paphos from the beginning.
Avantime agreed. i do also wonder why they went all the way to Athens afterwards and not a closer airport like the one in Rhodes, which is also closer to Cyprus.
Easier to find hotels or alternative flights in Athens, in case the flight got cancelled. Also Easyjet won't need to re-position the aircraft as Athens is a major destination.
yes they would. if for example if the aircraft was supposed to fly back to Gatwick that night on a regular routing from larnaca to Gatwick . the inbound service from Gatwick being diverted to Athens would result in the return service being delayed or cancelled. the aircraft would have to overnight in Athens before positioning to Gatwick. causing it to delay the next days flights. if the service from larnaca to Gatwick was not cancelled. but delayed overnight. the aircraft would have to position from Athens to larnaca to pick up passengers bound for Gatwick. both involve affecting the next days flights for that aircraft in question.its nothing to do with bases. its to do with aircraft and crews being out of position. eg. lets say a flight from New York to Dublin gets diverted to Shannon. the airline operating the route is aer lingus. yes aer lingus have bases at both airports. but if that same aircraft or crew is due to cover another route later that day from Dublin. the diversion will affect the service from Dublin regardless of Shannon being a base. it also depends aircraft type. eg the jfk to Dublin route is operated by an A330 but aer lingus only operate A320s and 757s from the Shannon base. but if the A330s crew are out of hours. what then??a new crew will have to be brought from Dublin to Shannon and this takes quite some time. and affects the aircrafts planned routings.
Actually the Alternate that goes on the flight plan is just so u can be legal to take off... it doesn't mean you have to use it, in the case of a diversion you can go anywhere that is safe!
Pilots could have flown directly to LCEN-ECN (nicosia ercan airport) from LTBS (dalaman). It is like 50 km to Larnaca from there. But non-EU citizens could have had a problem crossing the border from the Ercan airport. And of course why didn't they divert to Rhodes airport in the first place is the obvious question that comes to mind.
If you knew the history about the Turks invading Famagusta in Cyprus and bombing the main tourist attraction place and taking over it, you'll understand why they hate each other
David Wood go pros always have a fish eye lens. I think it is better for a view out of an aeroplane because it is wider. But for the cabin shots I agree it is horrible.
TheGreatFlyer Maybe you could contact one of those "Flight Claim" company's. They fill in a form for you and make sure you get the money. Even though you have arrived more than 3 hours later on your original destination, I do not think you would be able to apply for the any kind of compensation (by European Law). Unfortunately circumstances beyond one's control (such as weather conditions) are not applicable.
some people suggest rightly so why the plane didnt go to rhodes.,dalaman is prob closer however saw the new easy jet documentary on ITV and flights that have new or trainee pilots cant land at some more difficult approach airports, for example a flight from manchester to athens with a suspected medical emergency ruled out an emergency landing at some airports for the above reason, but was eventually ok to continue to athens anyway. could be the explanation. turkey does not regognise the republic of cyprus, only the north that it occupies illegaly, all flights to turkish occupied cyprus must go via turkey under international aviation rules. this was some form of revenge by the turks who could have allowed the plane to fly to the south of the island had they wanted to
wonder why you guys didnt go straight to rhodes and then to larnaca. Save time and fuel. Maybe the pilots didnt know the restrictions between turkey and cyprus.
Vasilis Kolovos they re on an a320. Stupid people go on Google and look for easyjet fleet which is all made by airbus a319-a320 if u don't know how to recognize a plane

haha woow 13hrs!!! that is a lot in a a320
try United Airlines at least with them you will be off the plane before it even leaves the gate!!! :DDD
But it was only meant to be 4 hours 23 minutes.
If I was a pilot for anyone but united I would always thank the passengers for not flying with them
WOW :D I can imagine that passengers where really pissed when they heard about the first divert - but the second tops it all xDDDDDD
Such a stupid rule really...
great video mate!
Dlm is not bad airport
most of all, poor pilots, 13+4 h of insane load of job. great work
CS:GO Peak surely they would have run out of hours?
Absolutely
LutonPlaneSpotter Absolutely. I don't know the regulations in Europe but the max amount of hours flown by one pilot (In USA and Can?) is I think 16 hours.
Yeah and I think that that was even their last flight of the day...😅
Unsub They might of done but if the crew is feeling okay the captain can issue a captaincy discretion so they can fly a little bit over their max hours to return to home base. They aren’t allowed to leave a home base though knowing they’ll enter discretion.

LATI Spotter I think so too...I vaguely remember seeing it but I lived in Cyprus so it was no surprise
Just left Larnaca a few days ago. THANK GOD!!!
Super video! I must say the wide angle view is brilliant
Waw! What an unbelievable experience! 3 diversions in 13 hours and, at the end, you did not land at your destination! Great video! Even one diversion can be annoying... But 3? Anyway, *big* like!
Great video my friend. It must have been horrendous for you and your fellow passengers, but imagine what it must have been like for the two pilots. They must have been so tired.
I know long haul pilots fly longer trips, but they don't have to do that many take offs and landings which is the stressful time for pilots.

Wow that was some ordeal. Tough day for the crew!
Talk about the stuff of nightmares, should've just called it a day in Athens. But nonetheless you guys seemed to be so calm and understanding, which I'm sure all the staff appreciated

Would love to see the metar's from Larnaca that night.
I live in South Africa and have flown through tropical storms before and have never been diverted. How bad was the weather
What an experience!! Great video!!
Hmmm this new flight simulator seems great!!!
very nice. only memories will stay. btw thats the way how a video must be recorded. :)
Were they running out of space to put bags overhead? first time I've seen luggages being turned in to hold 😃
Trip of a lifetime😂👍🏻
I went on holiday to dalaman HV TURKEY Its Amazing definitely recommend it!(it was actully very close it was in sarigerme but we landed and took off at dalaman
Interesting documentation of this unique flight! Any crew change in between? As far as I know 13 hours is over the limit of flight time for two pilots.
Very interesting. Nice video!!!
Awesome video! Looks like you had quite an experience!
is it best to mount from the top rather than the bottom of the window?
great video
Perfect experience. I want have experience like you =D Anyway, good video.
Lucky. I would love to be diverted to some many places. That would means extra hours flying
Great video! One question, what cabin baggage do you have?
John Perry that's a first lol
That must have kept the pilots busy!
I would love to see what the bus trip looks like.
E una buona compagnia 👍👍
Wow was the flight number the same from Dalaman to Athens ?
Hey there, great video ! May I ask what the video on your phone was just after the LGW takeoff ? Thanks :)
+TheGreatFlyer Roger that, Thanks :)
Amazing Video ! How du you get this graphics ? Do you use a Software?
Great! What are you night settings in GoPro ?
I believe the worse part, is how politics acted as a barrier for everyday civilians to get home or to go on holidays. Shame on those who didn't allow the flight from Turkey to Cyprus.

What a complete nightmare! 5 hours from BGO in Norway to LCA is about 4.5 hours longer than I would prefer...Matthew
how didn't you get reflections and glare in the window?
welcome TURKEY.... ;)
Anıl Açıkay yes welcome I love Turkey since I was Baby tourism
Dalaman is also closed in winter due to it being an army base
Why didnt they just go from Dalaman to Rhodes, then Lanarca?
Sol Bambi probably not free
Did Easyjet compensate?
What an ordeal...and no cockpit tour in the end ;)
So there was only one plane at paphos? EASYJET?
I wonder why they didn't divert to Ben Gurion instead.
how did you get your phone to stick to the seat?
Pilots could have flown directly to LCEN-ECN (nicosia ercan airport) from LTBS (dalaman). It is like 50 km to Larnaca from there. But non-EU citizens could have had a problem crossing the border from the Ercan airport. Wish that happens to me 😃😃
But why are flights from Trukey to Cyprus not allowed?
They hate each other...A LOT
If you knew the history about the Turks invading Famagusta in Cyprus and bombing the main tourist attraction place and taking over it, you'll understand why they hate each other
Awesome! Aircraft Reg.?
Should have diverted to Tel Aviv, would have pissed somebody off onboard :P
Hashanah don't say that godsh! Incorrectly Turkey is far from TLV so another 4 hours would of been added on so it been17 he's flight nice one
I don't know anything about go pros, but can you get rid of the fish eye? It really damages the quality of a video imo, good video anyway :)
David Wood go pros always have a fish eye lens. I think it is better for a view out of an aeroplane because it is wider. But for the cabin shots I agree it is horrible.
James Funnell alright thanks
I think the quality is very good anyway, I love the fish eye effect! :)
David Wood the fish eye effect can be removed digitally with gopro software
How was the weather in LCA?
My dream to fly 6 flights in one day
Ah it's like you went to New York and you were 3 hours in the return flight
have you started to fill the claim forms in..painfull enough having to watch it never mind being on the flight
TheGreatFlyer Maybe you could contact one of those "Flight Claim" company's. They fill in a form for you and make sure you get the money. Even though you have arrived more than 3 hours later on your original destination, I do not think you would be able to apply for the any kind of compensation (by European Law). Why didn’t you board thorough the jetway
some people suggest rightly so why the plane didnt go to rhodes.,dalaman is prob closer however saw the new easy jet documentary on ITV and flights that have new or trainee pilots cant land at some more difficult approach airports, for example a flight from manchester to athens with a suspected medical emergency ruled out an emergency landing at some airports for the above reason, but was eventually ok to continue to athens anyway. could be the explanation. turkey does not regognise the republic of cyprus, only the north that it occupies illegaly, all flights to turkish occupied cyprus must go via turkey under international aviation rules. this was some form of revenge by the turks who could have allowed the plane to fly to the south of the island had they wanted to
wonder why you guys didnt go straight to rhodes and then to larnaca. Save time and fuel. Maybe the pilots didnt know the restrictions between turkey and cyprus.
Highly unlikely the Pilots weren't aware. Could of been any number of reasons. Rhodes may not have been available for a reason of their own.
Jack D easyjet flies to rhodes though so the company is familiar with LGRP.
This was released on my 12 birthday
how can you use your phone to know the position? only with GPS?
Thank you very much!! And hi from Italy ;D
TheGreatFlyer did the flight attendends say anything about sticking your phone to the window? i wanna do it too but im a little afraid.
2:44 Look at the fire in the top right.
At around 7:28 are you actually watching on your phone what the pilot's are doing in the cockpit or is it just a random video?
That's not a video of the pilots as it's not an A320 but a B737 cockpit.
tomtom4867 they are on a B737-8. The video title is wrong.
I think the title is right. They are on an a320. What makes you think it's a 737?
Vasilis Kolovos they re on an a320. Stupid people go on Google and look for easyjet fleet which is all made by airbus a319-a320 if u don't know how to recognize a plane
Vasilis Kolovos look at the winglets on the end of the wings.. they are B737 wings not airbus
10:22 What?!
The emergency came up on Flightradar24 twice
was it just meant to be LGW-PFO
LGW - LCA it was meant to be
TylersModdingServices what airport is that?
The destination is Larnaca, but they landed in paphos, which according to the map is on the opposite side of the island.
Aiyaphol Kemapuckpong OK, thanks
AND THAT WAS THE SAME GATE I WAS IN I HAVE A PICTURE FOR PROOF!!!!!(At dalaman😂)
Infinite FlightSC _ same lol 🤣 I was there I was like what is this bird doing until I found out it diverted
Good video, not very creative name though :D
how dare you watch a video about a 737 while onboard on a a320?!
How ridiculous to fly to athens first. Why is it not allowed?
Probably due to the war between to countries in 1974, look it up
Easyjet needs 737 Maxs'
We don't need no stinking jetways!
Nothing "easy" about that.
I HATE the new one easyjet seats, they are way too skinny, worse than any other airline.
Do people still fly with Eazyjet how common.
Easyjet. And yes its very common they are a big airline in the UK but only a low cost airline. Although their prices aren't too low nowadays.
No I meant only common people fly with these low budget airlines.
Dr stranglove. Not true I work at Gatwick and see loads of celebrities using EasyJet.
Sometimes people dont have a choice, you couldnt fly first class to rome for example with BA or another high class airline, doesnt work like that
Stupid comment
