Fantastic explanation AND demonstration of a little joint that can cause all kinds of trouble & 'mystery' pain. 3 Drs had no clue why I was suddenly having a stabbing pain when I walked.
Finally my chiropractor suggested the fluid buildup in that area from a DVT might be pushed the fibular head out of place. And yes, there was a small bruise to mark where it was poking into the soft tissue just under my knee.
Too many Dr.s today have not really been taught to think outside the box. So thankful for people like you who help us to track down the source of pain & what can be done, rather than give into it as an unknown, permanent disability . Yes, that's what was suggested to me. ❤️

Holy hell man... This solved my lateral ankle and lateral meniscus pain. 18 months of pain and a menisectomy later.. a 30 second exercise fixed my pain. Thank god I traced my PTFJ pain to this video. My ankle is no longer constantly needing to be cracked. It was because my proximal fibular head was locked.. my goodness, thank you.

I tried this and it helped relieve pain so the next day when I did it, I got my pro max massager and used it to push on the fibula while vibrating instead of just applying pressure with my hand. I was amazed at the results, I didn't feel a pop or anything, but after doing 20 of the forward stretches while pushing on the fibula bone just below the head, my pain and sense of a twisted knee was gone. I did some deep knee bends using my right knee, the bad one, to carry most of the load and to my amazement, the sharp pain in my right knee that I've experienced for years was suddenly gone! The pain would only occur at 90 degrees bend, below that and above no problem, but it made surfing impossible as I would have pain every time I jumped up. Going to keep doing this until it gets strong and holds on its own, after a long walk it seemed to bother me a little, but nothing like long walks used to do. Thanks for this rehab excercise and I highly recommend people try putting pressure on with a big vibrator like the power max, it really got me results instantly! BTW I can't find my shiatsu massager for sale on line any longer, here's the closets to it on Amazon, but it is not cheap. www.amazon.com/MedMassager-MMB01-Chiropractic-Body-Massager/dp/B073VZ35H4/ref=sr_1_22_sspa?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxo3pg4XF5AIVaR6tBh2eHgovEAAYASAAEgKygPD_BwE&hvadid=198232182718&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1024403&hvnetw=s&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=b&hvrand=1887518392728609893&hvtargid=kwd-299856434288&hydadcr=21854_9445358&keywords=powerful+massagers&qid=1568076743&s=gateway&sr=8-22-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyRzIwMU5MNjYxSlhEJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzYzMDg3SEU5MTg4UjE4RVFJJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA0NTUxMjcxU0lVTFFCTzlDUUQ1JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfbXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

    Hello sir!
I had my ACL reconstructed 3 years back. I have returned to sports and sometimes really couldn't tell which leg has gone through a surgery. . But last week things took a turn, after a week of excessive activity something unusual happened. I was stretching in the evening and while changing my pivot from the left leg to right leg (operated) I experienced a giving away sensation followed by a pop in or around my Proximal tibiofibular joint. This happened two-three times in a duration of 30 mins. The sensation was short-lived but very intense that I couldn't bear my weight on that leg. I went to see my Ortho thinking I may have raptured my ACL again but that was not the case as my knee seems stable as he did some stability tests. And there was no pain or swelling except some stiffness in the ankle and increased amount of grating sound. Today while I am writing to you it has been a week since the first incident, I am able to jump, hop, do squats but still feel something odd with my fibula head. Can you please, if you can help me understand what actually happened to my leg that day and what should I do now?

my knees got a little "hot" after some heavy front squats. this wod helped a ton. Im virtually pain free now. Although I did use a thick stick wrapped in a towel instead of my fingers/hands (I have pretty flexible ankles). Im guessing something like a "peanut" made out of a couple of tennis or lacrosse balls, taped together, would alleviate the pain even faster. Thank you and subbed.

Hey Doc, my jiujitsu coach has been dealing with a knee issue for a long time and I'm thinking it could be something like this. He's had mri scans to rule out meniscus tears or anything, but he sometimes will experience a sort of pop or subluxation it seems, where his knee will feel "locked" and he can't fully extend it. Is it possible that this symptom could be indicitave of some kind of proximal tibiofibular subluxation? Recently this happened to him after somebody was putting a lot of pressure upwards on his hamstring while he was standing over them. Thanks!

It suddenly appeared about 5 days ago. I probably strained it somehow, but was wondering if I can get some sort of knee brace for it and what kind?

Are there any exercises to strengthen that part of the knee, or the muscles surrounding it, so it's more stronger? I originally injured my knee and martial arts in 2005. 2018 had ACL and meniscus clean up. I got back into martial arts and was having the knee come out of joint so to speak. My Ortho said it was my meniscus catching. In March of 2020 I had another surgery. It seems like the surgery was a waste of time. knee still does exactly what it was doing especially if I sit Indian style, before second surgery. Are there any exercises or strengthening that I could strengthen that part of the knee to make it stronger. Any help would greatly be appreciated
