Silesian here, officially, we're an ethnographic group rather than an ethnic one, but there are people who believe that Silesians are a separate nationality. There are also people (including me) who consider themselves as both Poles and Silesians at the same time (I don't know how to word it better lol).

I've been to gdańsk and there were in fact a lot of swedes, there is a joke in poland that we should just give the region of Śląsk to germany because of how many poles there dont even say they're polish. Suwałki also makes sense since the city is a hotspot for lithuanians in poland, and białystok is a shithole so naturally it would be inhabited by belarussians. And you cant go anywhere in Poland without seeing a ukrainian.

Because that term as commonly understood (at least in much of the West) means moving into an area that already has a pre-existing population of people, especially if they've already established permanent settlements there. I've been to gdańsk and there were in fact a lot of swedes, there is a joke in poland that we should just give the region of Śląsk to germany because of how many poles there dont even say they're polish. Suwałki also makes sense since the city is a hotspot for lithuanians in poland, and białystok is a shithole so naturally it would be inhabited by belarussians.

@bulkax303 Seems like you define "colony" a little bit differently. Because that term as commonly understood (at least in much of the West) means moving into an area that already has a pre-existing population of people, especially if they've already established permanent settlements there.
But yes, according to that definition, you're technically right, but the Poles can still be called colonisers aswell.
