*Great lightweight shelter. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s love how it blocks the light from outside. It was a pain to open the first time but now that it is broke in goes up easy..*
that sir is the best fold up joby i've EVER seen.OUTSTANDING!
This is the problem: I need garden storage in the winter, Which somehow must disappear into a tiny volume in the summer.
You sir, have just suggested the solution.
Many thanks.
Nice build man. Nice to see there is still handymen out there
I would love to get the plans for this. You did a great job and I love it.
It has been on Higgins several times. I pulled it out there with a Honda 70 three wheeler. They do take some time to build and the cold weather right now is time to fish not build shanties. I will do plans on the improved model with step by step video. The plans will come with some full size patterns for the curved pieces. Thanks for your nice comments!
Very excellent design. Someone should manufacture them
You will love it! When it's 16 degrees outside, it will be 78 degrees inside. With a two mantel lantern. Most of the guys I let borrow mine leave the door open. My new design with have a little more ceiling room and more stable for towing. Plus the step over the wall will be gone also. Some of the older guys had trouble getting in and out. They were in there 80's but I still like making things easy.
nice design very well made ! subbed ya !
I am so stoked it looks awsome
That thing is awesome!
Nicely done .
Thanks Roli, You need to experience Ice Fishing. Hope to fish with you sometime!
Dayum this is the best folding ice shanty so far!! Make me one, and I'll pay $400 for one.
Thank you! Hope you can enjoy one someday!
That's really amazing !
That's awesome! I'm interested in how to build that as well, I'm thinking about making to have a sturdy fold up bed. I'd make mine a little bigger though.
Thank you!
Hi. I live in Northern Ontario and it's cold as hell in winter but i still love ice fishing. Have a pop up which does the trick with one person but would like to get ahold of your plans for an 8x8 for times there's more than just me and want to be out all day or sleep over night. Usually sled in to where I'm going. Trails can be tight but doable. Excellent design.
I would love to know the drawings on your shelter
Very generous size allows for a more roomy feel on the ice
sweet looking forward to building a 2 man shanty for myself
Pretty slick man
I would like the general directions and item list. My dad is in his 70's and fishes everyday that he can set foot on the ice. He has used the canvas type and they fall apart too soon Ideal would be a shanty he can take on and off the ice with him. There has been a lot of theft in the last couple years. So weight is a big thing. Love your design. Love the idea of the step over door being shorter. a one man shanty would be great. Terese in Mi somewhere on the Muskegon river.
Nice design. I like the speed to assemble. Very interested in plan dimensions if you put one together. Nice job.
I love it and I want one!
Thanks!
Nice shanty, u should be proud
Thats pretty cool :D
I like. Makes the most sense yet. Would love to get the plans from you.
ive never seen a shanty like it its amazing ive been looking for a shanty thats easy to use and light. i see u are geting lots of requests for plans i was wondering if u had come up with any yet or u could let me know some demsions on the 2 man. i like how small and compact it is perfect of smelt fishing on higgins lake
If you were to design a version that would fit into a small trailer and pop up into a camper,I'm certain that you could sell many . Very clever design !
Any news on how to build this is the greatest shanty I've ever seen!
Just wondering if your gonna post how to build this it's the most amazing shanty I've ever seen
As my video is starting to get some winter attention, I will thank everyone for the comments. I had a busy summer getting my garage back in shape. I am still not finished with it and I hope the tarp lasts the winter. Once my garage is done I can justify building shanties.
I have found a set of old cross country skies and would like to make one myself. where would I get the plans.
Hold on till next year and I will show the world how to build one.
This is awesome! Please tell me the plans are on the way!MichianaFisherman
This video has been on youtube for 4 years and you said 2 years ago that you would show how to make this. people still want to know how to make it but you still have not. I have been wanting to make this so can you please post a video on how it is made. Thank you. (This video is form 9-19-2012 I am commenting on 9-19-2016)
MichianaFisherman
I'd like to order one please!
Do you have plans for this or know where I can get plans for something similar. Thanks
It's very clever. Would like to see the plans of the folding 8x8.
Thanks
Awesome 👍
Hey my fisherman - tha's very cool !
Roli
Hi Michiana,I am curious if you've ever produced a set of plans for your shanty?
that is very nice cool design sir
Hi Michiana, Did you have those measurement yet on the size of the ice shanty? Outside overall size. Thanks
plans ?? love to see thickness of walls
Nice now that’s was convenient
Tha'd be awesome if you put a video up on how to make it!
Very practical Michiana Fisherman..
Can I get a plan for building this, I think it's the best I've see!
What did you use for the walls ? Great shanty looking to build one for myself
you my dear man are genus
Thanks!
quick and light , nice :-)
Wow!!! That is nice!!! Michiana??? Which side of the line are you on? I'm about a mile out of Indiana, over here on the Hillsdale/Branch County Michigan line.
Hey when ya gonna post a video on how to build one of them?
Can I get the plans for this I love it
I am interested in a print or drawing, I would be willing to pay. maybe a closer slower look. awesome shanty. Hope i get a chance to build my own!
very cool
I love this prototype !! is there any way you could get the drawings on the internet?
I live in the north of sweden and i would love to have my own fishing shanty !!
Hi. Do you have the video on how to make it yet? My husband and I would live to make one. What are the materials? Thanks!
An extra strip of wood on the edge of the walls. The walls fit so good there is no need for extra weather stripping. One of the hard reasons to provide plans because of different thicknesses of wood to fold correctly.
I am buying some plywood tonight, that is if they have what I want in stock. So in the next couple of weeks you should see the base going up. My step by step build should be easy to follow as long as you can get your material cut to proper size without a hassle. Meaning not having power tools. I did make the first shanty with no power tools. So the amount of time for me to do a step by step video will take me more time than someone building one for themselves.
thanks
It would be awesome if you posted a how to build video!
That's all I ever use!
Do you have plans for this? I wanna build it
That is really cool! I wish I had one. It beats the hell out if the hub shanty I have.
Tight Lines.
Scott
Do you have plans available?
Clyde Emmons Hi, What is the size of the shanty? I bought the materials but I want to make sure before I start. THANKS
Your design is nice but ... where to store it after winter ? I don't have place in my yard to have this all summer.
I like the canvas style Eskimo or Clam shelters the best. It fits in the back seat of car. After winter I keep it on shelf in my shed.
I understand your thoughts. I have none of those issues. I don't fish with a car and have a garage. I have used the canvas style and froze to death in them. I know my design limits the number of users, but it was built to keep me warm and comfortable while fishing sub zero weather. My Grandkids use mine all summer as playhouses. But I don't leave them in the rain.
Nice layout how much does it weigh
Any plans or designs to share with us? please?
Do you have plans for it
I live close to the RV capital of the world, so most materials can be found easy for me. Depending on where you find materials, glues and screws and hinges and varnish and paint. You are looking at 300 dollars or less for all new supplies.
I live in southern Michigan. I don't have any for sale Andrew, but if you wait till this fall I may sell the one I am doing the step by step build with on Ebay. Haven't decided if I am going to sell it or not. After I get it completed I will have four working shanties. After my step by step you may decide to build your own?
its a sweet fish house!!! but i had a few questions. like what is the size of the floor? 4x8? what is on the buttom of the fish house that makes it slide so easly? what are the wall made out of, by that i mean i know its 3/4 inch thick insulation board but is there also a peace of plywood on each walls? and last but not least how tall is it? thank you.
How did u connect the sides together so they stay up and not let wind in?
It is slightly smaller than 48 inches wide because I made it to fit into a small van or between the wheel wells of a pickup. On the bottom of this shanty I use some linoleum some friends had left over from their kitchen, but I have also used thin Uhmv plastic but it costs 100 dollars. So cheap is good but not as durable. The walls are foam insulation installed into frames so I can attach hinges. As far as how tall it is, this one is less than six foot, so the one I will be building will be over6
I want nothing more than to build or purchase this shanty! I'm in South East Michigan... what will it take to get some plans or possibly purchase one from you.
You MUST get in contact with Cabela's!
Great concept might be a little tippy bend a snowmachine tho
I would like to get the blue prints for this shanty could you send them to me this thing is great
that's slicker than snot on a door knob !
mullz1 snot is not slick, it’s sticky!
наши люди😊👍👍👍
Hello Please send me a copy of how to build one of these? or information on how to get one of these? Clyde
I must learn how to make one of these for my boyfriend for Chrismas!!! Please at least give me a list of materials. I can have my Dad help with the rest if you don't have the plans. :)
Any chance I could get a measured drawing
Are you using 1 by or 2x2 on your side walls? Going to try to build one this weekend.
I only use 3/4 x 3/4 that I cut from kiln dried firing strips.
how much does the 2 man shanty weigh?
That will be coming shortly. Step by step with some improvements in the design.
Thank you for the comment!
Are selling build plans for this? I’d like to use this design to make a motorcycle trailer camper. Please advise
No plans. Would not work (the way it is) for a trailer. Would need better hinges and stronger material. It could be done though. I made this one to haul in a trailer.
I will be in Houghton Lake first week of February. My profile picture was taken there last year. I live 275 miles south.
I am going to try and do a set of plans for next year. I have some new ideas to make it less weight and easier to get in. No more stepping over the box. My idea is to provide a material list along with the dimensions. Then I will do weekly videos of the build, so anyone building one will be able to understand all construction techniques. If I get enough requests I could even provide a kit of materials, for those who don't live in an area with available stock, or have a table saw.
Soooooo COOL pics and drawings please
How much does that weigh?
Do you need one for Christmas?
Awsome
This is also a cool design with a little modification for rv campers or homeless shelters.
While towing I bet it flips over easily over bumps in the ice. To tall and narrow
Yes it does! I made this to fit into the vehicle I had at the time. I did make a second one backwards and put the two together. Way more stable. Thanks for your comment!
Can I send a drawing of this mobile house for fishing?
Try using hemp panels, they are very light-weight and strong...
