Another big day in the career of Mike K! He's already solo'd in the PA28, but he wanted to transition into the C172 as he felt more comfortable in it. In order to do that we had to train up to proficiency in the C172, but this wasn't an issue for Mike. He got it done quickly and now here he is soloing again!
Congratulations Mike!

Mike has such good taste in aircraft.
Congrats Mike. But stay with the piper
Is this Josh's burner account?
I think you're on the wrong channel...
@@garywaite6999 nope carb heat sucks, ill take my fuel injected Cessna 172 any day
You must have cut all the footage of Mike talking to himself like a weirdo because everyone knows that's what us "normal" pilots do when solo. Congrats Mike!
Lol he’s actually very quiet on his own. Just relaxes and enjoys the time alone without me talking his ear off haha
Dammit I do this 😂
@@LewDixAviation so the opposite of Young Bob? This could be a refreshing change for the channel. ;)
I thought we all do this!
Congrats Mike. Your instructor is a lunatic.
🤪
Congrats, Mike! Keep it up 😁
It's always a good day whenever there's a new LewDix Aviation vid.
☺️
Crazy you post this video today! I took my first solo flight today!!!! There are no words to describe the feeling!!!!!!!!
That's great! Congratulations!
Congratulations mike
Congratulations Mike.... planes fly smoother without the CFI specially when you are not carrying that many kilos..
Congratulations Mike! Love the balloon graphic I giggle like a idiot every time. I did my first unsupervised solo today and doing another tomorrow. Flew to another airport and did pattern work. Tomorrow I think I am just going to fly around and enjoy the view. Want to get comfortable flying alone
Great job Mike! Those Cessna's always balloon, no worries! Great instruction Lewis, you will remember the radio next time....
Congrats Mike!! Looking forward to following Mike's journey from here on.
Well done Mike. You are part of an elite group. Not many people in this world are pilots. You are a pilot now.
Best of luck with the rest of your training.
Congrats Mike on his first solo
You didn't mention in the video about your handheld radio.
Congrats, Mike. And CFI! Good job you guys.
Congratulations, Mike.
Video would definitely have been better with a handheld radio to splice in audio....
Congratsss to him!!!
Nice one Mike. Well done.
I’m due to go solo any time now. Just waiting on weather 🤯 so good to see you doing it here.
I’m probably gonna have my first solo next week. I’m so excited!
Another great video. Lew did you forget the hand held radio...😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think I did! haha
omg the price is right fail sound effect had me rolling 😂
The smile on your face when he greased the landing :)
Nothing better!
Congrats Mike! Made the right choice in the Cessna :)
Bob! 😂
The editing just keeps getting better and better!
Nice edit brother, even without the handheld!!!! YES.
Thanks mate!
Congrats Mike!! I'm more of a low wing kind of person but I'm up to learn to fly different planes.
Hey LewDix, I suggest you do a live ground school session. That would be awesome!!! Captain LittleDix has to be a part of the class as well. Love the content!!! Keep it coming.
Well done, congratulations!
Congrats Mike
Congratulations on your solo Mike, that’s awesome!!!
.....and I forgot my handheld radio!! YES!! That was hilarious 😂. Time for a leave the cockpit for a student solo checklist 😀. Keep up the great videos Lewis!!
Way to go Mike!
Congrats Mike.
Well done, I remember my first solo April 9th 1969.?C-150. N60194, Flight Safety International 8.7 hours .
Congrats Mike! Very cool!
Well done! Proud that its in a Cessna!
Lmfao at the balloon effect!
the two most important things in the video.... mike had a great first solo , and you forgot the handradio 🤣🤣🤣🤣
congrats mike 👍
Congrats Mike!
Awesome! Congrats Mike!!
Big day! Congrats!
Wish my trainer plane was that nice 😅 nice work! Waiting on my medical for my first solo any day now!
My solo is tmm @ KHWO... soooo nervous but soooo ready!!!!!!
lol.lol. lew is funny. "I will give you your license now, but you fail to put it on the "T". My man. As always. I got to come down there soon.
Keep up the great work LewDix! Your videos improve every time I watch, and look forward to every new video. Thanks for keeping it fun and so entertaining!
Thanks so much man!
Fantastic, well done! I look forward to the day I can do that, almost got to first solo then had to quit, then life got in the way… quick question, what is the black background checklist you were using? The one in Garmin pilot takes up too much space, that one looked nice and concise
LewDix has the Chris D'Elia "EEEHYESSS" down perfectly
YEEEEESSSS! Love D’Elia! Ya cuda
Congratulations!
Congrats buddy. Oh and Lewis, you can listen via LiveATC. I do it all the time from my phone at the airport while I play with my plane (finally start to get trained in it next week). I did at least start commercial license this week after knocking off the rust the other day.
I was going to say, now that Lew is lining up all the corporate sponsors he should get LiveATC for next time.
I use my phone for vlogging... Now what?
If you don’t hear Right Rudder, you are ready to go Solo.
Sounds like the CFI needs an instructor checklist? 🤣
Hey LewDix, the Live ATC app may be an an option for those times when you forget your handheld. Great videos, BTW!
Thanks man! I use my phone for vlogging so makes it difficult to get on liveATC
old past flyer here enjoining your videos and reminiscing my days of flying while watching your videos..question ; what handheld radio would you recommend>?
Dude the handheld radio is in your back pocket
Good deal man thats awesome
Not sure I heard correctly. Did LewDix say he forgot something during a student solo day?
You made my Friday a great day. A new LewDix aviation video posted today.
IN my best LewDix voice....... YYAAAAAAYES
Hahaha great to hear man thanks for watching
Hey LewDix remind me, the handheld radio is to be carried when you solo people? Or when you're in the plane with him.... ;) Great stuff guys! Congrats Mike!
👏👏👏👏
guys i think he forgot his handheld radio
Some Mooney props do! lol...on purpose even.
Congrats!
You really haven’t soloed until you have soloed in a Cessna
Or sailed.....
I didnt quite get it. Why dont you have a hand held radio?
If you forgot the radio, why not listen to Liveatc?
Wait, I'm confused. Did you forget the handheld radio or not? 🤔
Nah I was using it didn’t you see?
@@LewDixAviation question about that radio though- does it transmit as well or only receive? For example, if something were to go wrong in the airplane during a solo (god forbid), would you be able to give advice through the radio to the student (assuming you actually have the radio)?
Yes it transmits too.. good job I have full trust in Mike to forget it haha
@@LewDixAviation I'm sure it can come in handy if you're ever flying IFR or something and you lose comms, good to have a backup system
Im early to this, hello everyone in 7 years
Unrelated: But I'm currently working on emergency procedures and power off landings. I'm having a little difficulty judging with power off when in the downwind and base leg.
On final, it's obviously easy to recognise the under/overshoot and pop flaps as required. But I'm having trouble judging on the downwind and working out when to turn in.
I have no problem with normal landings, just power off approach.
Any tips???
Count about 3-5 seconds after the engine “fails” and then turn to base and judge what you need. That’s what I usually do

CFI wants to fly ?!
I guessed right. I thought you were from the North UK! Man U. or Man City??
Neither... The mighty Bolton Wanderers haha
Is 27 too old to start a new career in aviation? Considering a career change but don't know if it's too late.
It's not too late!
I started my avation career at 34 to begin my transition from law enforcement to commercial pilot.
@@InformationMike I'm actually a LEO. Could you get in contact with me?
Must be a few mixed feelings letting go of your student for a solo.
