Song context: When the gang finds out about Varian's criminal past, he struggles to explain himself and grapples with the shame and guilt he still feels after all these years.
I've been wanting to write a new Varian solo for a while now, since Worlds to Discover is his only solo so far for this project! (In other news, this is SONG #7 in this series, which is WILD.) I think we've all wondered how/when the gang learns about Varian's past, so this is my take on what that scene might look like. Not going to lie, working on this song ruined me for about a week and made me wander around my apartment shouting "WHAT HAVE I DONE?" at the top of my lungs. It was that kind of week.
