Thank you for the tutorial ! The final rendering is awesome. The 100 Blend steps of the outer shadow rmake a very complex shape with hundred of points on some curves (see the accumulation at 3:25) so it results in zigzag lines that looks just like they were pixelated. An easy fix is to add an intermediate step after the 3:25 timestamp. Either select the full path or only the anchor points of the problematic segments then go to object>Path>Simplify then reduce to the minimal amount. Repeat once or twice if necessary until the curved segment are only made of 2/3 anchor points. The result will be way smoother when zoomed-in.
This was so helpful! A bit fast and I wish your cursor was highlighted however it was very throughout and I felt very proud of myself to make something of this quality! So thanks again!! ❤
I like this. I think I knew most, if not all of it, but I still feel like I learned something in actually seeing it created. Also, when is Illustrator gonna give us a quick way to do 3d text with the blend tool where it doesn't give you a ton of useless points? Bah. Great vid!
There are so many tools/techniques that could be simplified in illustrator but I’ve been using them for so long I don’t think I could break the habit! 😅
I'm struggling with the compound paths portion of the video. After selected both components individually and creating compound paths, selecting both components, then clicking minus front, I get this message: The filter produced no results. Please select two intersecting paths. This is where I cannot progress further. Please help! Update: I figured it out. When you space over right and down 8 times, your spacing is a lot further than mine by pixel. It works best for me if I just drag the solid color component right and down so there is an overlap of the other component.
I’ll have to make a similar Photoshop video! In the meanwhile if you look up the ‘step & repeat trick’ on my channel that’s the technique I’d use in PS

Great tutorial!
How are you choosing the different glyphs? I couldn't find where to do that?
It automatically pops up when a letter is selected (if other options are available for that letter). There might be a setting for it in Preferences
Nice Tutorial..
love this video
Superbe ! vous pouvez faire la typo et les effets des Twinkies Hostess svp !
Thanks bro
Awesome tutorial! How did you get rid of the points remaining after expanding and unifying the 100-step drop-shadow?
If you go to Object > Path > Simplify and move the slider to 99% it reduces most of the points while retaining the correct shape
Not coming shadow
Thanks!
Too much gold knowledge ;))
