He feels safer in jail because he didn’t spill the beans on everyone else involved.
“There was a status element by investing with Bernie Madoff.” That quote right there tells you everything.
Never invest in something you don't understand. Just like at a rock concert you never take it unless you know what it is.
Exactly
🥴🤣👍
Are we listening to a Concert or trying to hear the Storyline??
I was just about to say the same thing before tuning out. Adios! That and that loud narrator.
Both.

If the SEC is incompetent. How about the rest of the government?
At least as bad.
Sun Lite The entire govt SSA is a ponzi scheme
To err is human, to really screw things up let the government handle it.
That moment when you realize that the WSJ was gifted with this story years ago but refused to print it...
People close to him thought there was something weird....but everyone wanted to believe. They just didn't think he would manipulate the situation that much.
HOW DID IT HAPPEN?
INSIDE HELP.
NO ONE CARED.
EVERYONE WAS MAKING MONEY.
It sucks that the victims are the ones being called greedy. Many of them were saving for retirement or to be able to leave something to their children if anything happens to them. And WSJ why didn't you listen to Harry when he came to you with this news about Madoff?
exactly its almost like people enjoy seeing individuals get their lives destoyed. one major in the army killed himself because he lost his entire life savings. sure there were greedy people but the majority were people trying to make a safe investment.
Vee Vee The same reason that the SEC and FBI didn't stop him. Or do you expect every allegation to be published as fact? Get smart.
Everyone is greedy to some extent. It's human nature. The difference in Bernie's greed and his victims was that he sold them on trusting him.
A lot of poor people were happy to see people lose their life savings. They want them to be broke just like them. Misery loves company.
Barefoot Prof definition of a con artist
Harry Markopoulus , a man of integrity, graduated from Cathedral Preparatory School in Erie, PA. Inept Sec & Exch commission was out of their league with both the genius of Madoff, the perpetrator and the genius of Harry M. , the discloser. Don't depend on government !
Why doesn't the Wall Street Journal do a documentary about why it let him ride for so many years?
Shakespeare understood probably better than anyone how complicated human beings are.
The real story is that companies that dealt in these stocks knew or had to suspect. What stopped them from blowing the whistle?
SEC is a paper tiger no doubt to appease the public.
Like The Big Short I would pay to hear this untold story of how the sausage is made.
Big banks scheme with our hard earned money. No better. Not in jail after multiple scams in my lifetime. Bigger and more untouchables thanks to both parties
I just want to find Marcopolis and invest with him. Smart cookie
👎For the stridently blasting music. Why dumb it down? The story speaks for itself👎👎
greed ... the lust of more & more
PrITH viE is why you are wearing a mask in your avatar
The background piano music ruins this video. I made it four minutes and now must go.
agree.
lol
gabe 25 couldn’t disagree more. I’m searching thru the comments for the name of the composer.
@@LilMOMMAson ruclips.net/video/cxFBurk12Gs/видео.html this is a good tune. Which one is it? I want to know too
Agreed
This program format reminds me of Mysterys and Scandals with A J Benza 💰💰💰
And who was above him financially pulling strings? Hmm...
greed,the ugly soul

1987 the WSJ congratulates Madoff for surviving the crash and protecting his clients...ironic.
Based on my banking experience, the victims would never have rubbed shoulders with traders. And the trade sizes (e.g., 10k here, 20k there), are minute given the liquidity of the blue chip securities, particularly debt instruments such as Treasuries. But, you raise a good point -- why weren't more people suspicious? I think it was the "lowish" return level...if he was posting very high returns (e.g., 75% y-o-y) many more people would have looked into to copy his so-called strategy.
I stopped watching it the music was horrible
intro song, please ?
I concur the 'no'.
Was this filmed in 97? Jesus... yall dont have a budget for better video and audio quality??
🤣
What's the name of the piano solo that plays in the beginning of the video?
LilMOMMAson its classical guitar, i believe it is asturias, unless you are talking about the piano piece after whice is chopin
I was referring to the piece following the opening guitar solo, and beginning at 0:38. Which Chopin piece is it? Thanks
LilMOMMAson Prelude in E minor :)
@@selectjed1 you are a gem. I wanted to know the song as well!!
I really don’t like the way this was cut so I won’t be watching part II
Loud piano.
So much of this crime falls at the feet of the SEC. How can they be an organization that protects investors when this kind of fraud happens and they do not have the technical skills to even investigate it? Madoff did not transact a single trade in over 20 years so how hard would it be for them to prove he is not even investing in the NASDAQ or NYSE? Incompetent .... just like every other gov't agency.
So where did all the money go? Just to their wealthy lifestyle? Did they ever find all the money? Did some of them get in back?
If it was up to a million dollar scam a person can only hope for a lottery win or a really good week at the casino but 60+ billion? Nothing can be hoped or dreamt to solve the problem
They always wait for there people to eat!eat!n eat! N boom there goes the news.
these WSJ people given the chance would totally do the same as Bernie
Someone is usually discovered as a genius when their work is understood, and they are the for-runner of something brilliant. To say your head would explode if you worked out this plot says it all. Not a genius, just outright banksters cooking the books. Please do not call be a genius if I do this!
"Shakespeare understood, probably better than everyone else, how comlicated human beings are". lol, no.
The FCC didn't have the people who had the special knowledge needed to expose Madoff .
What do you think Social Security is?
The clue was in his name, Madoff ......MADE OFF.
Markopolos should of gotten a finders fee for exposing this madness. Did he get obe
how come the big WSJ didn't smell a rat...???
I'm happy being a class-action idiot. I could never do what Madoff did.
Never invest in what you dn't understand and ideally manage your investments yourself. If a rate looks go good to be true it probably is. The complexity also comes in that plenty made good returns which are in fact the money of newer investors and having to pay it back.
this music is to loud , can't not heard the story ..
He sent the money to he's Jewish people , Israel. This enable him to help the jewish(religion not nationality) fight the war. They (Jewish community) was loosing the war. The wealthy Jewish community wasn't contributing like they should. Brilliant plan, government agencies.
The bottom line is the government allowed this to happen. Madoff knew all the right people. 1000s of individuals were involved in this scheme whether they knew the full extent or not. Madoff may have created it but he got a free pass to continue by the most powerful people in the world
I think ppl thought Bernie probably was doing something shady, but thought he was on the inside somehow, so by transfer, they were on the inside.
Berni Madoff is a true AMERICAN Icon! A true hero in meh eyes!
why
65 bil$ PONZI
...there is still one thing I don't understand...apologies if I mis-watched...what were all those young people in his office seeing and doing on their screens all the time ?...is there a kind soul who could explain it to me ?-)
...one more thing...some of his victims were wealthy people, who had business and socialised with bankers, CEOs and other big investors...how come no one ever listened to "Pardon ?...Madoff bought you 10000 shares of XX&X ?...but we didn't sell 10000 shares... ... ..."
They made a choice. If they made money they were happy. They were greedy as well. They invested too much because they were greedy. Who puts all their money in one thing or one person? Greed greed all the way around.
mastermind
The music and the repetitious pissing and moaning made this video unwatchable.
Every kind of relationship needs trust. "Trustworthiness is the greatest portal leading unto the tranquility and security of the people. In truth the stability of every affair hath depended and doth depend upon it. All the domains of power, of grandeur and of wealth are illumined by its light." ~ Bahá'u’lláh, Baha'i Faith
o well never trust a bank or anyone with your money. really its your own fault
Irony. Bernie Made Off!
ponzi himself was not even jewish
Ulverup Italian. If he was he’d be praised
the bgm sucks!!!
Well look, WSJ, Dumb and Dumber making this.
Serves the rich people right for being greedy and wanting more! Madoff made them more richer, but I feel sorry for the genuine hard working people who lost their money.
The video is terrible in that the camera is shoved in everyone's face to be quite intrusive and distracting. Best of luck, but this is a rather terrible format!
MADOFF, JEWISH
SEC, JEWISH
WSJ, JEWISH
Turn off the background noises. We just want to hear the story. No one wants to listen to your lame music.
I have a word of advice Ms. Hoong Lee, although I am saddened by your minor 10,000 loss, which I am sure will be replaced by another smoothe talking do-gooder---always ask questions and don't EVER be suprised why any rational person is giving money away-----unless Mr. Madoff had a personal tie....its usually a scam so stop complaining and find some more legit sources ---try JP Morgan....all they do is give money away
What a joke.....his last name just so happens to be Madoff (made-off ....) he didnt do this all by himself trust me!
The essence of the Madoff story captured in a sentence: Jews got Jewed by a Jew
Not the case at all he didn't even know the majority of the people he robbed, it was so much bigger than just him and every race, social class and demographic was touched by his scheme
Please, place your trust in God like I do and not in monsters and men. Amen.
im sure lot god fearing people lost monet ...... im sure they prayer over there decision to invest
and belived they were doing.right thing
what does dat say to u about god ?
Ok phambo kkkkk
sorry........Jews, Jews and more Jews
