@richardlabreche Hello! My name is Jonathan J Strong of Berwyn Pennsylvania and i' m writing a sci fi situated in 1986 Did the Iroquois which who was still having it ' s armament the same in the 1980s? What kind of armament did they have? What part of the Iroquois did you were stationed aboard If you had friends aboard could you asked them how did they operated? I would think that the refit which who was changing the Iroquois weapons was a mistake Having a big gun would be good And the retention of the Sparrows would be better served them instead of the VLS systems Instead of using a three inch OTO-Melara which who wouldn't get where the five inch OTO-Melara weapon which who could reach high enough to swat down incoming supersonic anti ship weapons And to have enough stopping power behind them for anti ship surface warfare And i think that the 280s should of been armed with 20mm C I W Ss One time i had gone to Penn's Landing here in Philadelphia i went to see H M C S Fraser one of the River class escorts and i climbed all the way into the pilothouse It was very narrow in size and in the middle of the confined space which was the voice pipe I then said to the officer in the pilothouse This is all? the guy nodded his head Hmph was all i'd said to myself Jesus What a bummer!

The British had he same sort of launch system on some of their destroyers in the Falkland Islands and they took too long to cycle. By the time the missiles were ready to launch, your ship was already a target with an incoming Exocet. The Vertical Launch System replaced those in short order during the TRUMP refit circa 1990 thus shaving valuable seconds off off the launch time (but shortening the life of the destroyer as the hole cut for the VLS array weakened the foredecks and led to cracks, structural issues).
Nice to learn about the old Tribals... I love those ships.
Old memories. Thanks
I can remember viewing this whilst still in training and before being posted to a ship. The ship I was posted to was the Iroquois.
BZ my man, I'm RCN myself aboard the CPFs.
