I'm 31 now. I was I think 16 or 17 when this album was released. Idk I never got into ac/dc, led zeppelin or any big old bands that all the rockers at my school swore were the best bands ever. I remember thinking well they were great back then and it now 2005 I think the world is different and those older bands just dont do it for me. Now I'm here in 2020 listening to this because it just came into my life at the perfect time

As I understand this song, it's an expression an internal struggle to embrace the personal transmutation needed to leave "childish" idealism behind and accept the oppressing reality that is socially accepted.
i miss that Bloc part.Dont get me wrong,other albums also have some great songs but Silent Alarm,AWITC and some old bsides/demos had that special feel to them.

He said his lyrics mean a lot but are also like a poem….. you can take your own interpretation “We’re all scared of the future” That’s fucking haunting. Love it. For me this song is about the strangeness we have by being in the now and wanting to feel tomorrow. We make plans. Get bogged down, distract …… it’s about progress I’ve got a taste for blood 🩸
