  • Today we get that greasy steering gear that we pulled from the Risco Disco fitted up to the LS3 Swapped Defender. This is kind of a crucial part that should have been figured out earlier but I was just having too much fun with the Disco Disco to part it out right away.

    I must say you looked extremely happy Joe, not your usual happy, but extremely happy. That last bracket & spacer and mounting the steering box really does bring this very much closer to sorting out the front end and starting the engine - well the mechanical bits anyway. I know the wiring can be complicated, but you have been there before, so this should be a breeze for you.

      I was a bit happy. Haha. Wiring will be alright, just need to sit down and get in that mindset is all.

    Hi Joe, Take this as a WIN as it gets you one step closer to the finish line, I have to say the new belt set up is looking fantastic. That new 3D printer is earning its keep, so what a great purchase this turned out to be. Yes you may have had to make a few renditions of the power steering brackets, but ha every cock up is one closer to the magic pieces LOL. What’s your plans for the heater as they are also different on LHD models, I have seen that they can be reworked to fit. Look forward to seeing the next video update, keep up the great work. 😎👍

      It will more than likely get a vintage air or something like that. But I may just get a lhd defender setup. I’m just not a fan of the tacked on look of the oem air conditioning vents in the Defenders.
      I do learn every time I mess something up, so it looks like I get to learn a lot haha.
      Thanks for the kind words as always!

    Haha... I was scratching my head over that pulley and how the belt was going to run over it. 🤪

      Haha. Exactly. When I finally put the belt up there I was like what the heck was I thinking.

    Did you put any kind of a pressure regulator in to limit pressure to steering box?

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  Год назад

      It will have a restrictor in when I build the lines for it.

    Will the Disco 1 LHD box work to convert from RHD to LHD. Plus all the other parts.

      The Discovery 1, Range Rover Classic and Defender share the same steering gear. We started with a spare set of Disco 1 axles we had around to build up for this as well.

    Could you not have used the PS bracket from a 2010 Camaro SS?

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  2 года назад

      This engine is a gm performance crate and it has the front crank pulley from a Corvette which sits in about 1.5 inches from the Camaro’s. So I would have had to swap out the crank pulley and the water pump to the Camaro to run it that way. I preferred to keep that stuff as is and a little tighter to the engine.

    ONE OF THE JOBS I HATE STEERING BOX CLEANING AND RE SEALING THEY ARE JUST THAT BIT TOO HEAVY TO BE ABLE TO MANAGE

      I know, they are a tank of a unit. Now that it fits in there I get the pleasure of pulling it apart to go through it.

      I'm partial to the look of the classic dashes in these. Although the Puma dash would make the hvac easier.
