This group is stunning, it's the dream team I would have asked for if you'd asked me for a perfect quartet. It's really the medicine we all need right now! Thanks!
One of the greatest modern jazz quartets in jazz history is back together again! What a perfect combination of musicians with exciting chemistry. These masters know melody takes the front seat, over technique. They blew my mind mind 20 years ago. So happy to see them back, cool! Gratitude.
its also easier when we are not constantly being reminded in the comment section that we are in crisis. let it go for a while, for the sake of everyone's mental health. I'm certainly not the only one using music as a form of temporary repreive from the reality of our situation.
Joshua Redman is such an amazing musician. The quality of his sound cannot be underappreciated. Combine that with his great sense of rhythm and harmony and you got a beast.
I watch this almost everyday since it first posted. Just a great peformance. If they have the music there I bet this is a newly written song and they are still swinging!
This is the real deal. Side note, I was lucky to see Brad’s trio close up last year at Scullers in Boston, and somehow kept my head from exploding. Good Luck friends.
I saw Brad's trio live 10 years ago....was seated 15 feet behind Brad......he does these SUPER LONG MELODIC EXPLORATIONS.....1 hour set was like 3 tunes !!
All the young guns blazing. Would have been great. So tragic we lost Roy so young. Like Clifford Brown, He`ll be a legend future musicians & fans will study.
Great band, though I'm still not used to music stands on a small jazz group bandstand, i.e., "get off my lawn you kids!" That said, Brian Blade has got to be the baddest, slickest, most mesmerizing drummer today.
Before I saw this, I was doubting that Brad Mehldau was human. His music all sounds too perfect and it's like he's a robot created by a record company.
maybe it's bc they were still reading the charts at this point and hadn't yet internalized the material, but they don't seem as tight here as some of the 90s footage, which is DIALED IN
Brian's subtle comping on the snare is unmatched.
Yes-yes-yes.
I always called him ELVIN JONES JR as his style is sooooo free and polyrhymtic
@@MrNicks-gn8jc i’m glad some else can agree with me on this, that’s probably why my two favorites are Elvin and Brian right now
blade is hands down the most fun drummer to watch
also to listen to
Luc Langille Art Blakey a close second
elvin jones is on the list
Nooooooo! Dave Clark ;0)
Maybe second to Ari Hoenig
This group is stunning, it's the dream team I would have asked for if you'd asked me for a perfect quartet. It's really the medicine we all need right now! Thanks!
i work at this venue!! what a privilege it was to be there for both nights of this reunion!
we still have the hot sauce :)
@@josephdesole Would you explain why it was there lmao
Glad to See the Quartet
Back Again....

This is one of the great jazz quartets imho. The energy level when you put these guys together is something else.
I am so happy these guys are still doing their thing, seem to all be healthy and alive, and are together.
hell, they're all only around 50, not 80.
Now that's what I call world class musicians...🎸🎷
Mehldau’s solo is literally a greatest hits of stuff we’ve heard from him over all the years.
Gawd I miss going to see live jazz so much right now.
four excellent musicians that combine so well and
make you proud to be a jazz fanatic
I would like this 100000 times if I could
Confab of monsters of music and the procession of the stars in heaven were on point!!!
The dynamics are unbelieveable
Staying home in self-isolation is made easier when I can watch top Jazz musicians like these 4 on RUclips. Swinging!
its also easier when we are not constantly being reminded in the comment section that we are in crisis. let it go for a while, for the sake of everyone's mental health. I'm certainly not the only one using music as a form of temporary repreive from the reality of our situation.
What a classic quartet, back together ! I'll listen to the album "Moodswing" again until this one comes out.
Does is swing? Hell yeah it does! Bravissimo fellas.
I see these any of these four living legends, I click.
Loved this quartet ever since watching the Munich 1994 video.. so glad they're still playing together
Joshua Redman is such an amazing musician. The quality of his sound cannot be underappreciated. Combine that with his great sense of rhythm and harmony and you got a beast.
don't you mean 'cannot be overappreciated'? i hope so.
Just wish he would stick to the Tenor where he is a true Master and drop the 'snake charmer" Soprano
My dream is that these guys will come 'round again on tour
I feel they will....as soon as Corona passes....
カッコいい。アルトサックスもピアノもオシャンティだし、ジャジーなところも遊び心があって素敵♪
This is one to get some tickets for
can't get enough of it.
Seen all these wonderful cats live, just never all together like this! 😍
jazz is unlimited!!!!
やはりこのカルテットは最強だ・・・。
かつてより音楽が成熟していることがよくわかる。
アルバムの発売が本当に待ち遠しい。
I remember “Moodswings” and still count it as my all time fave. These guys captured me for Jazz.
Brian Blade... A phenom.
I watch this almost everyday since it first posted. Just a great peformance. If they have the music there I bet this is a newly written song and they are still swinging!
when they tell you that pizza is ready 1:50
I love this tune. It gets my ass moving! gotta be the greatest jazz quartet of our time.
Yes!
Had the pleasure of having Christian on my podcast! What a quartet!
Can't wait to see you guys live
Quatro excelentes músicos! ❤👏🏻👏🏻
Just perfect combination. So good!
Wow!
Real music.
Amazing!!
Beautiful reunion

Yes Yes YES!
legendary quartet
Anyone that is listening to this has ears.
Magnificent musicians for a magnificent music !
It’s more than music
Seeing this quartet at 93' JVC video, and seeing them now...
Looking forward to hearing the whole record!Good thing they remembered to mic that ketchup bottle!
Was it ketchup or hot sauce? 😏
July is so far away
遊さんのツイートから来たけどめっちゃいい
Tremendo
The kids are alright!
alive and kicking !!
Notice that Brad´s so spicy he has some chimichurri on his Yamaha
Lol
That's beacuse he is such a crazy choriplanero ! 😂
A Steinway would mask the bad sound engineering better!
AMAZING! Thank you so much for the music guys!
YES !!!!!
This is so cool!
La botella de salsa de Brad es lo mejor jajaa
awesome
Really amazing music!
Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, and Brian Blade in one band . why not LOL
Looking forward to the album!
hahahahahha so happy to watch this
super! THANK YOU
Yes!!!!!:
Grandes músicos, los esperamos en chile
No one can tell me that Mehldau's solos aren't beautiful after listening to this.
很帥的~~😌😌
❤❤❤
😎🇧🇷👍 JOSHUA REDMAN!! QUE SUPER AGUDOS HEIIM!!
I wish Hargrove was in on this :(
Sshhhht this is my favourite quartet
All the young guns blazing. Would have been great. So tragic we lost Roy so young. Like Clifford Brown, He`ll be a legend future musicians & fans will study.
I was just thinking that. Joshua Redman and Hargrove have so much in common musically. RIP Hargrove.
sooo good. I wish Christian were more forward in the mix, though.
Turn the bass up - works for me 8^)
6:36
Yeah, he is pretty quiet
The mix is intended to be not perfect, so that you may animated to buy the record.
But it is perfect to capture the vibe in the room.
Great band, though I'm still not used to music stands on a small jazz group bandstand, i.e., "get off my lawn you kids!"
That said, Brian Blade has got to be the baddest, slickest, most mesmerizing drummer today.
these are new songs, hence the sheet music
first time i've seen a video of brad mehldau playing with sheet music in front of him. shocking. LOL
Before I saw this, I was doubting that Brad Mehldau was human. His music all sounds too perfect and it's like he's a robot created by a record company.
@@duncanwilson2803
He thinks before he speaks and he listens when hes not speaking
this is not social distancing but I love it
Well it was last September after all.
This video is just a shameless plug for "Mehldau's Mighty Hot Sauce"...
Where else would he get his spicy chords from?
Hahaha so fun af
You mean jazz artists Should not promote their work...as though it were "product"?
It´s called the music business for a reason. They play great and in the moment. I see no problem here. Everybody has to pay the cost of living.
@@bobblues1158 *whoosh*
To the guy @ 2:37 who probably got dirty looks from everyone else in the audience, I've been in your position many times.
What can you say when you have 4 heavyweights on stage all at once double wow!!!
😭😭😭😭
#Referência🇧🇷♥️🎷
Джошуа, как всегда порадовал!
🔥🔥🔥
....And now ,ladyes and gentlemen....Musiiiiic! But really...people!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
and yes, they do swing...……..hard.
Brad sounds like he`s channeling Herbie in that solo.
2:37 is that blade screams ???^^
Lol no im pretry sure it was joshua redman he does that sometimes
how did he raise his hand at 1:00
maybe it's bc they were still reading the charts at this point and hadn't yet internalized the material, but they don't seem as tight here as some of the 90s footage, which is DIALED IN
Does anyone know if a tour will be done ?
