I’m tired of people comparing death grips to metal, go have your Iron Maiden and Metallica. None of these overhyped metal groups have half the energy or passion of death grips.
I think of Zach Hill as the reincarnation of Buddy Rich. On the surface they don't seem to have any similarities, but Zach Hill one of the only drummers since Buddy with some level of the chops and more importantly the intensity that Buddy played with.
Zach Hill is way more innovative than Buddy Ruch, though. Buddy Ruch wasn't really doing anything that jazz drummer wasn't already doing, he was just incredibly talented. No one else really sounds like Zach Hill.
Pure fact that Stefan remembers almost all songs and performs live with more anger makes this shit legendary Also Andy honestly making live sound better messing with already very complicated productions, it's just perfect
I don't know why, but the slightly-offbeat syncopation of the live drums during the hook is SO fucking addictive
They're tuned down bellow the song so it feels like his live snare is the coal to a fucking hype train.
