- The kayaking trip to the northern most tip of Australian continues. We arrive at a sand cay (was super windy so apologies for the audio), catch & cook on the fire, get one of the best sunsets of the trip, cook a "Wongai Plum" damper and continually learn about nature along the way. THE CRITICALLY ENDANGERED SAWFISH
Part of this mission was to give back to conservation. We wanted to more than account for any species we took from the ecosystem while fuelling our bodies. A part of this was packing a full sawfish research kit, in which two of the crew had been trained to use and knew where to target the fish, so in the event that we did, be ready to tag and release back into the wild. We did this under the direction of "Sharks and Rays Australia" (SARA).
Any data taken on this trip would give a better understanding of population health, genetic diversity, and distribution of sawfish, improving their conservation worldwide.
** If you have any sightings please report to www.saw.fish - though note it is against the law to target sawfish without a permit. They are a NO TAKE species. **

wasnt one of them done for faking the show? i cant remember which one it was now, but they were busted for bringing an animal on a trailer, and releasing and claiming to film it in the wild. think it was alby.

LMAO, I'm watching this with the kids, it is all going well, awesome damper, great catches and releases, great cook ups then at 15:05 we get the : "call me up on the pleasure channel!" 2 sons who have just got their skippers tickets go "Dad what is the pleasure channel? It's not 16 or 73, what are they talking about? " Mum walks in, just in time to hear" yea yea 69 mate" Boys ask mum - "Why is channel 69 called the pleasure channel, and why was that not in our skippers ticket course notes?" I'm destroyed at this point laughing until the youngest says " Mum, dad never uses the pleasure channel on the boat when we are on it, you should talk to him about safe boating!" Now I'm dead and I have been sent to the dog house for watching in appropriate videos with the kids!! Bloody funny but, cheers for the entertainment! Stay safe!
Great episode Lads...justa quick tip for you Az on the cut(s), always keep a small bottle of Hydrogen peroxide ( keep it in an old film canister) when you get a cut splash it with peroxide and then dry it best you can and close the wound with Super glue. Crazy right...IT WORKS. it stings a bit going on but hold the wound closed for 45 seconds and try not to get the glue on your fingers mate or you know... bad situation. I have had to use this method a few times in the bush. most important thing is closing the dermal layer before the microbes get in there. do your best to keep it dry for 8 hours after. I reckon they’re using the tripod as a drying line - it’s their cast net hanging up. Az’s editing skills aren’t up to blurring anything out.
It is the 12 gauge shot gun in a handy location in case a crocodile makes a guest appearance
