This is great! I saw your double hand deflections in an earlier video, but here you followed it up this with an counter attack to incapacitate him. I love this video for self defense.
I practice Aikido, there was a moment i almost gave up on Aikido, but when i started watching this channel, it blew that thought off, its great watching what u are doing with Aikido,
We are the ones that have to thank u Sir, u are breaking a wave, i just wish more people could witness this, will do what i can to take u forward, Damn u are a badass
Its amazing for me how when you go to the basics of martial arts-like you guys do,and thank you for that-beyond the fluff and the Hollywood-do,you notice they have so much in common. The last segment of this technique is very similar to puter kepala from silat.Great stuff,as always.
I always getting something each time I watch your videos or go back and watch one over again which I do frequently. This one has a lot of good moves to use or alter if need be. Great stuff
I have been watching your videos for past week and find all technics great only issue I have is the quickness in which you demonstrate the technics. If you could possibly show the technics slower in the beginning and then the actual speed it would help tremendously.
Hollywood pay attention to this guy this is the real deal you want some good action movies instead of all that BS you normally give us with martial arts guys this is the go-to guy Lenny Sly he's tough mean and noses stuff matter of fact you might want to try out a Roadhouse movie with this guy he'll be super movie guaranteed
If your looking for confidence techniques, this is where its at. Seriously though You come looking for trouble at me, beware your getting into a whole world of hurt coming back at you. excellent words, put across to make people know its for real. Respect.
Man, this is some really great stuff. I am just coming back to Aikido training and this really does represent what I've believed Modern Aikido could be.
@@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS13 I'm interested in the aggressive style of the Aikido martial art, but it's not looking good in the area. I may have to look into Hapkido instead.
yes, when someone attacks you with your family, its personal to us! regardless their intention, im gonna incapacitate them with something they wont soon forget, thanks Sensei Lenny! i have always taught my students never to back up, but to enter in or to side advance, but to retreat as you use your Te katana cuts can prove to not only be ineffective but could put them in the hospital
i have to ask what is up with at 0:11 he is just putting his arms out there why. he is presenting no threat. What aspect is that training speed? if so wont distance be sacrificed?
so by your logic, all training is useless, unless you're training with real bullets and sharp edges. So if your Uke is coming at you with a wooden tanto, regardless of how honest his attack is, you are not training because there is no true fear of being cut? Your muscles are an extension of your brain. Have you ever learned a technique? everything starts slow and as you build the foundation of that muscle memory, the technique speeds up. He is building muscle memory via quick-twitch response; similar to how wing chun practitioners practice on a wooden dummy or how other arts have katas. he is not applying any technique other than deflections, because deflections have to be fast in order to be effective.
Lori Powell no i am just not a fan of bad demos or training that are bad on purpose. Your twitch muscles get stronger but they do not remeber the moves.
I like Lenny as a teacher and the fact he will tell you that a lot of traditional Aikido moves are not fight effective. Aikido needs overhauled to be effective in the real world!!
I would like to know where your school is so I can take one on one classes with you. I love the no nonsense type of teacher that gives real combat or street technics.
I've seen some aikido moves in the intro. Are the rest of the techniques in your videos krav maga? Thanks for demonstrating this techniques👍👍👌👌🥊🥊👊👊🙏🙏🥋🥋
hey Lenny I need an opinion on this Chad stahelski has been chosen to be the director of the reboot of Highlander he's the same guy that directed the second and first John Wick the studio that hired him said that they want the same John Wick style stunts but with a sword so they pretty much have to redefine sword fighting tell me how would you figure that because right now I'm trying to figure out what martial arts they would use I've been testing them out a little bit possibly Kendo and Judo what do you think

tinyurl.com/y4u6od4v you use any other styles besides aikido? Would be cool to see you apply some other techniques from other forms. People need to show more multiple attacker, gun knives vids. Watching your gun defense vids. i know bruce always taught to use whatever works even biting when nothing else works. I love all the styles trying to save them-watch and shadow box the moves. Ppl def need to have that confidence plus its good cardio, even though god willing you will never have to use it. Stay safe God bless
I used to teach that "double finger ripper" as part of some bunkai/application to some kata, and it does hurt bad, I never do techniques on people without knowing what they feel like on myself first, I like to know how much pain I'm liable to inflict on a aggressor
You have years of experience. The average guy will need to cut back to only "one" option from entry. Fewer options=faster reaction time because under duress the mind will regress to the known self-conditioned reflex. That strike to the neck affects all the rest of the tactics. Hitting this target- the subject will be very lucky to stay conscious. Before Tony did this with spear- M. Hurst was teaching this back in the 80's. I have used it ever since with a slight modification because of my height and weight difference. Alex was doing this in the 90's in the Charleston area and has some great takes on it as well. Anyway- good stuff.
Very advanced years practice and need to be as strong or stronger than opponent? Good video. I think hands to deceptive prefer block using elbow block to slip protect .
I would like to learn everything i came from joeyBslash3s channel and he showed how to do Nightwings fighting style with escrima sticks and I'd would love to be taught by you guys....
How du you defense if the attacker comes with "wrong hand"? in other words...if the attacker feints you..like boxer could do..you think his left will come and you starts to defend against his left but instead it comes a right...do you understand???
Man it depends on how the situation is, he show this technique for right left hand jabs, but he is how you say boxer with the "wrong hand" he will go for other techniques, so don't think it is only that hands with only that technique, it depends on how the situation is, that's why you must have good reactions and good reflex!!!
@@teodorstefanov984 absolutely!! The techniques shown are for a particular situation. You should become comfortable doing it both sides. You have to do whatever technique comes spontaneously not necessarily kotegaeshi.

give me a break. This is Akido for street combat. Adding different technique. The art form you see in a lot of videos is a demo of the form. Its very graceful.
I would love to see you block with your elbow like that in a real right, not to say you can’t incorporate aikido into actual fighting but that blocking is ridiculous and you are going to get people hurt. Use a normal guard that actually works and has been PROVEN to work in combat and not leaving you completely open for counter punches from anyone who knows to pull their hands back to their guard.. it’s absolutely ridiculous, I challenge you to use this technique against ANY resisting partner(even one with no training) not people at you gym/dojo. If you want to defend yourself in real life learn the basics first(kickboxing, wrestling, and BJJ) and then add flashy shit when your skilled enough to actually use it. Not trying to be a jerk but have you or any of your students ever used any of these techniques in actual fighting competitions I would be very interested to see the footage if there is any.
My Sensei, also a Tenshin practitioner, will use this after intentionally pissing of the punching student to show that it really does work. And it does.
The elbow block is actually similar to the bong sao of wing chun (was that the block you were referring to?) A friend of mine who does wing chun did it to me, and I took it up for myself. It's a really useful technique when I get surprised and i don't wanna backup to do the long guard (probably cause I'm lazy and rooted on the floor XD HAHA 😂).
I am a bit iffy about the elbow block, but the arm/head spin technique he uses at 3:00 has been used before in wrestling matches to counter wrestling shots after sprawls. A variation of that same technique is your standing or ground quarter nelson. Sparring and competition-wise, it can work and has worked before. In self-defense situations, this variation of the technique isn't optimal. There are countless other variations that are more efficient in the street and this one isn't one that I believe to be viable. Regardless, this is merely combo drilling for sensitivity and to learn how to flow.
This is great! I saw your double hand deflections in an earlier video, but here you followed it up this with an counter attack to incapacitate him. I love this video for self defense.

two words........muscle memory
Lori Powell which is misunderstood. Your brain is what gets trained to react not your muscles. So if you train bad you will perform bad.
