Hi! I’m also a Habitat for Humanity homeowner and I have shared on my RUclips how my house turn out after I moved in. Thank you for sharing. I love my house too!
Thanks so much for sharing your story! I am in Alabama and they gave us a list of lots to choose from. Were you able to choose yours from a list? My family of five has to do 400 sweat equity hours.
Hiiiii lovely home and story for you & your family congratulations so encouraging! 🥰👏🏾May I ask a few questions. After the questionnaire you felt it was only two weeks when they got back to you? Also only if you can answer, I love seeing celebration stories of people showing their homes/cutting the ribbon, is this something that habitat require new home owners to do? Or a person can choose to decline and just be grateful in their own way without news outlets?lastly how soon do they require their down payment? Thanks in advance
Hi there! So no it was a month or so before I heard back from when I turned in my paperwork. We didn’t have a ribbon cutting but had a dedication ceremony where different people spoke and I was presented with a Bible and hammer. Down payments are done at closing. I hope that answers everything!
Thank you for sharing this. I just came across your video because I have been dreaming of becoming a homeowner. And I am just waiting on our habitat housing application to open in the fall. I’ll love to msg you to ask you if you think my family and I would qualify based on your experience.
Looking into applying for a house. I have been diagnosed with stage four cancer and have months to live, not years and husband had a stroke recently and is not working. So, we have three boys and are overwhelmed to say the least and our "need" is that the Landlord wants to move back into his house (the one we rent) so we have 12-18 months until that happens. Ugh any advice would be lovely! Mike & Julie Flynn (Central FL)
Hi Julie, It saddnes me that you have to deal with this.. May God be with you and your family. If your husband or you go on their website, they have a number to call to figure out the application process. If you have a social worker that is assigned to you through your palliative care, maybe they can figure out resources for a home for your family.
I badly need a house for me and boys but thete is no guarantee seems like people can be approved...so yes maybe worth trying but ... what people do when they rejected? Can they apply again later ?
We are in Georgia. Depending on local zoning rules and sizes of lots will depend on the size of houses in certain counties etc. For our county houses stay around 1500 sqft for a 3 bedroom which is about avg. we didn’t have a very large lot so they had to go up rather than make the house longer or wider as a 1 story.
Okay cool. They trying to tell me my credit is not to there standing but it’s over 650 so I’m not understanding. Do you recall the credit limit for GA. I’m waiting on a follow up message Monday
Hi ok so Can you sell it if you want to move? Can you pass it down to your kids if something happens to you? And can you build a garage or add on to the house? Can you modify the house at all? I feel like there is a catch to having one of these homes. 🤔
What's weird is seeing them claim to be a charity, yet they only select people that have 60k Audis and BMWs in their Habitat for Home driveways. The cars are even more expensive than the homes.

@@thrifty_bwas down payment required? If so what percentage or what was the down payment based off of?
I purchased my Habitat Home 11 years ago. The down payment was $200.

Congratulations 🎉! So you applied February 2022 and your family moved in the month of August that year ?!

So do they not take into consideration all the kids needing their own room? I have 3 kids so a 4 bedroom would be needed.
What State are you in? This the first home I seen that I like. Most look so small 🙄

I thought they went off more like your debt to ratio than your credit score but I might be wrong
How many interviews? And why so many?

you can sell and pass it down to your kids, yes. can’t speak on anything else but it is YOUR home
How much did you pay for your home?
200 equity hours?! They’re asking me for 700 hours, wTF
We have to do 400.
We have to do 150 per adult

Can I email you with questions.. my mom was talking to me about this program
