    Can't thank you enough for posting this vid. I have the same Badlands winch on my 2011 Sportsman and purchased the exact same switch. I hate auto / atv wiring and beyond your photo's inside the control box, I hooked everything up exactly as you described and BAM......winch working again. Again, many thanks.

    I have the same winch and connected it to a on-off-on switch and it does go up and down but it doesn't hold tension when up and switch goes to off.. I did something wrong... wrong switch? wiring?

    • @JamesBergSr
      @JamesBergSr  2 месяца назад +1

      @@TVTruther if the winch line does not hold tension after pulling the line in, and the free spool is disabled, then you likely have a defective winch.

    Great video thank you very much and I watched it several times & read the 15 comments. Is there a way to ELIMINATE the remote totally? Do I need any of the other wires (like black jumper) or can I just get rid of them altogether ?

      I think inside the control box there is 2 boxes within there. One of those boxes will have 4 wires with one being not connected, this box is the wireless receiver box, remove this box. Then connect the manual control switch that was showed in this video to the other box. Then put it back together and mount the control box back to wherever you had it. I think this is how you eliminate the wireless control and just have the manual control. I am about 70% sure.

    • @phillipallan2863

      I figured it out through trial and error

      @@JamesBergSr Unfortunately I deleted all my photos however I remember there needed to be a short tiny black jumper right in the middle from one prong to the other. And the other two connectors were opposite colors. For me I think it was green and white connected to red and black respectively. I also ended up using three eights inch cable because the harbor freight cable kept snapping and instead of U bolts for attachment are used cable dogs only the U-boat side because the U-boats kept snapping. I also drilled 2 holes in the half circle frame that the plow was fixed too. Inserted a heavy bolt on each side so that when I was plowing snow the impact would hit the bolt and not stress out the wire rope. It’s taking me three years but I finally figured out everything and a whole bunch of snow storms lol

    Just followed this video to install the same switch. The switch works well, except now the wireless remote doesn’t work. Any idea why?

    • @JamesBergSr
      @JamesBergSr  7 месяцев назад

      The wireless remote is not impacted by this installation method. If you followed along exactly as I did it, and the switch works, then There is no reason I can think of that the remote wouldn’t work after switch installation. All we are doing here is piggybacking off the remote wiring with the switch. So if one works they both should. I haven’t been into the wiring since I made this video, but I’d start by going back into the winch wiring box and making sure I didn’t knock anything else loose in there while doing the install. Only other things that comes to mind would be if you tested the remote right before you started this install? If not, Could just be the remote battery or the remote itself. Hope this helps. Please like and subscribe if you haven’t already!

      Those were my thoughts. I double checked everything and it all seems tight. The only thing I did differently was I tapped into the power within the remote box since my atv doesn’t have a fuse box. My only thoughts are perhaps I shorted out the wireless box as I forgot to disconnect power when initially loosening the nut to tap into the power there (I did see a couple sparks 😅)? Other than that, I installed as you did by running the switch in/out wires down the sleeve of the existing wireless box in/out wires and soldered them in place. Perhaps both if those wireless box wires got pulled back/loosened and is no longer making good contact?
      The remote was tested before install, I used it regularly.

    So there is no quick connect rocker switch for a Badland 2500?? I have the wireless remote and the manual joystick . Why the hell didn’t they just make a rocker option that is plug and play that is mountable

    Do you have any problem with battery drain. I put this same winch on my Polaris 570 and it drains the battery in a few hours. It shows constant power at the solenoid. I added a rocker switch and took off the wireless remote module but still have constant power and draining.
