    Nice review Jon. It's a very capable plane for having small elevator/rudder. The thin main wing really helps it maneuver around much more than one would think. Just started watching your channel... great setups and flying. I noticed that you often change the receiver and almost always change the servos. Would you explain the changes and why? I wouldn't tend to change those items so what might be the difference between the plane you're flying with changes and what I'd be flying as stock? Thanks.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад +2

      Hi David, thanks for popping in. Hope you'll stick around!
      I change servos because they're either plastic geared (as they are with this model) or because they're not up to the task of what I want them to do. Or, honestly, because a lot of stock servos are imprecise and I don't like that. Receiver changes are done when I want an additional antenna or more servo channels to control flight surfaces in a unique way.
      I don't think there would be a huge change from this model from how I fly it to how someone would fly it in stock config. Mine is just far less likely to damage or strip a servo's gears from the way I fly it, so it's cheap insurance for me to make sure this model lasts for a long time.

    Ah, I see you have changed the channel name between when I ordered this plane and received and maidened it in very gusty conditions (not preferred but really wanted to try it). Loved it. Did also buy the metal gear servos but have not installed them. I did try to maximize the throw but it was already virtually at maximum, anything beyond that simply stalled the servo as there was no more throw. Would the metal gear servos be different? More to the point though is I have listened many times to your ‘explanation’ of the extra servo lead but I am confused. It seems the Y lead is for the flap. Is it cut at the receiver or at the wing connection block. From what point on the connection block (center aileron?) to where on the receiver are you running it. The only possible connection point would be the “0” position which is the non channel binding plug position. The channel 5 position holds the lights. Did you move that to the bind position (since I believe all it needs is power) and then use the channel 5? What servo are you connecting to that. And then what wing/tail type are you assigning the plane? Sorry for all the questions but I love the way your plane flies and want to follow in your airsteps. Thanks for your help and advice.

    • @Legalmachinist
      @Legalmachinist 2 года назад

      Ah, 2 ailerons, 1 flap system (despite new servo lead I presume). So, one question answered.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад

      The B11DLS servos will throw to full potential if you've set them to 150% rates and reprogrammed the receiver. All the setup info is in the back end of the vid which should cover most questions.
      I cut the aileron lead at the point where it connects to the receiver and crimped a new servo lead onto it with a DuPont connector and then ran the separate aileron lead into the fifth channel. Lights can be run off the bind port, there's no good reason to run them off a servo channel.

    • @Legalmachinist
      @Legalmachinist 2 года назад

      @@TwoBrosRC Thanks for your quick response Jon and for confirming bind/channel 5 and lights. I don’t think I can extend the aileron travel, they are already at maximum but, I presume the new servos might be faster and further presume that putting the ailerons on separate channels not only allows individual aileron travel adjustments but more importantly, provides each servo with full current (rather than sharing on one wire/channel) which should greatly increase speed of response. This is probably why your roll rate is faster than mine/stock. Am I missing anything? Again thanks for your excellent guidance.

My Cirrus Eflite BL10 motor is clunking a little. And ive read some harsh reviews about that motor. I LOVE my Cirrus. Ive done plenty of FMS plane motor swaps. But this is that goofy Timber/Airtractor motor mount situation. Since the HH website isnt selling the replacement motor (i searched all 3 planes "Replacement parts" tabs-it shows the BL10, but there's no price and no Add to Cart button). So, i was wondering if you recall which replacement motor you used in yours.

      @@TwoBrosRCSorry. 18:18 on this video. But, my bad totally. I misheard you regarding the RV7 motor and this motor. If you watch the few seconds after 18:18 you'll see that I just heard what I wanted to hear. Not what I actually heard. 😊
      Anyway, if you do have any motor swap experience with either the Cirrus or TTE, I'd love to hear it. If not, I'll definitely hop into Discord. I'm not much of a webchat dude- other than comments here. But, I've had nothing but positive experiences on the 2Bros discord. Thanks for responding. And of course for the awesome content. 👍

      Oh, that was a reference to the RV-7 using the Maule motor and prop combo as you noted. No worries lol
      The stock motor on the Cirrus is the same as a Timber, it should be one of the most durable components in that plane. Unlike the motors Flex sells, E-flite motors tend to hold up to normal flying and abuse quite well.
      Cheers bud

    Why did you replace the servos?

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад

      We don't trust plastic servos for the kind of flying that we like to do.

      Is this a good second plane?
      I have flown the UMX Turbo Timber

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад

      You'd be better off with a model like the full sized Turbo Timber. It's a bit more versatile and not as easy to mess up landings with. Spare parts are cheap too. If you'd like to support us, you can pick one up from bit.ly/3RiWI92

    • @greglewis20

      Why are you using a 2-bladed prop on the TurboTimber?
      What size did you choose?

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад +1

      Because it draws fewer amps and reduces stress on the ESC along with having more thrust. We use a 13x4 propeller with the Timber spinner.

    Which airplanes did you score 9 & 10 out of 10?

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад

      This one so far. I just started doing actual scoring on these models so I may begin going back through my catalog of models and reviewing them all properly going forward. I've never flown a 10/10 model yet.

    i dont get at all why people think that plane has a tiny elevator? its got plenty of surface area in relation to the dimentions of the frame area. i get pleny of response out of my horizontal stabilizer on the Cirrus

    • @TwoBrosRC

      It's pretty tiny compared to most elevators we've seen.

    You think that $299 is a low/reasonable price point?? Just because your EDFs are over $500 doesn't make this cheap in my world. It's just FOAM! But still I enjoy your channel.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад +3

      Yeah, it's pretty reasonable. You can't price the aircraft based on it being composed of foam. It's also made of carbon fiber and plastic, and includes an ESC that's $69.99 alone and a receiver that's nearly $120 in the open stock configuration. Additionally, it has proper hinges for almost every flight surface. $299 is a steal. The electronics for the ESC, motor, and receiver are about $200.
