  • Walking tour of Jungle Prada de Narvaez Park in St. Petersburg, Florida. This small park features a fishing pier, boat ramp, Indian mounds, and a short path to a small bluff overlooking Boca Ciega Bay.
The Indian mounds are on the National Registry of Historic Places. It was once part of a 24 acre village where the Tocobaga Indians lived. The site was first occupied around AD 1000 with the major mound building activity occurring between the 14th and 16th centuries. Archaeological finds suggest this village had contact with the Spanish expedition led by Pedro Menendez de Aviles in 1567.
