I saw this show in Montreal. I'd say about 90 per cent of the audience were there for Tito and Arturo - mostly Latino. I heard quite a few people wondering who this mystery man Steve Winwood was. Then he got behind the B3 and roared onto "I'm a man," and you could almost hear a collective "Oh... THAT guy!" Steve *tried* to sing a number in Spanish - and everyone forgave him! I got backstage to talk to Steve. Gave him some photos I'd taken of him in the 60s, onstage with the Spencer Davis group.

"Higher Love", my favorite Winwood Album ever!! But this isn't about that......I need to listen more..
Recently in an interview, it was pointed out that Stevie is a "collaborator". " I appreciate that in what he creates. When I saw him perform Mr. Fantasy at Clapton's guitar fest it was taken to a whole new level that I can't find in the original. That's what collaboration does, brings in new elements that are just "magical. Right now I'm hearing the horns in Oyo Como Va. Swe-e-e-e-t!!

Is this the best band Steve Winwood ever had (apart from Traffic)?

I love how unpretentious these Cuban guys are. Sandoval could well be the greatest trumpet player on Earth, but he'll happily jam out on some pop tune with Winwood or even Timberlake.
