Btw to people who watch this; Do you want to see more on this series? I have time from college to make more videos! Let me know which character you want me to cover.
Read the VN for more context on Rena! Tsumihoroboshi in the anime really doesn't do the VN justice. The anime doesn't really put you into the mind of Rena just tells you her back story, That's why I love the VN, I love knowing what the characters are thinking about, especially the part near end of chapter 6 where Keiichi comes to Rena's hideout to try to get her help and tell her to trust him, in that scene we go from what Keiichi's thinking to what Rena's thinking, showing the concern that Keiichi has for her and the paranoia and distrust Rena has for him. Basically I'm saying just read the VN lol, it may take 100 or so hours but it's worth it.
I always wondered why I related to Rena so heavily. Especially in the visual novel. She ended up becoming one of my favorite characters after reading the VN. I was recently more or less diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and I see a lot of myself in her.
I already appreciate this so much, I'm stopping here 2:35 since I've haven't really finished the novels yet but I'll be coming back. Anyone who spends time to understand my savior should have a good life with that, you caught me right here, I hope to know more soon.
Oh and here something’s you might want to know. It won’t be stated later. Rena listened on the phone call because her true intentions were to check on K1 but if you heard someone talking about your past behind your back wouldn't you wanna hear it? Or about you in general. I felt a bad for Rena when K1 slammed her fingers even though she was being nice and wanted to eat with him because Rena was joking about breaking the chain. Rena was walking around with an axe because remember that Rena is the only one in the village who can walk around with an axe without being marked as suspicious because of her treasure hunting and everyone knows about it because it’s a small village(K1 even told himself that). She was staying outside K1 window in the rain to apologize because she was worried about him. That answers a few questions that you didn’t ask about and wouldn’t know otherwise unless you reread the first arc :P Oh and She knows about the K1 being home alone because like this arc said, she is close with his parents so it only makes sense that she knows about what he eats and they most likely told Rena that they were gonna he out for a few days, So Rena was tryna be considerate and made dinner for K1.
I 100% agree with these ideas. I didn't really want to focus to much on keiichi's arc in a Rena video but you really hit the nail on the head. Maybe if I ever make another video I'll talk about this more in depth, thanks for the comment though!
The way we she stood outside in the rain after the fingers scene was just heartbreaking in the VN. I do wonder about what happened back in that other town that she lived though. In the VN they kind of seem to imply that she was molested by those three "friends" of her, which would make her backstory all the more heartbreaking. She doesn't deserve any of that, not even the Rena from Tsumihoroboshi does.
@@wilhelmdietz4023 Rena and Mion's Onikakushi counterparts never got an actual apology from K1's Onikakushi's counterpart because it's impossible, if not extremely difficult. But I guess K1 still manage to apologize but it's still sad that the Onikakushi versions haven't.
Yeah, Rena outright states in some arcs that a lot of times when she goes shopping she meets up with Keiichi's mom and they talk about what they'll have for dinner (esp since they meet up a lot for food sales)
One can tell you didn't read the source material. The divorce was basically Rena's mom abandoning both of them while her father just cried and fell into depression without even having the chance to react or take a stance. Rena increasingly turned to self hatred because of an aspect in psychology that makes children believe it's their fault when something unreasonable happened to them. Hinamizawa Syndrome only helped in exaggerating her self-destructive tendencies at that time. She threw away her old name and essentially created a fake persona called Rena for herself, comprised of all things she interpreted to be "loveable" by other people, that she essentially acts out like a character because she believes her true self to be an unloveable, vile person. Yeeeeeeeeeah, suffice to say, we VN guys see this anime as a massive disappointment.
@@animeandy494 Yeah. I mean, with the amount of echo in the bubble of people who only ever saw the Anime (Wich is half of the Higurashi fan base), it's kinda understandable tough. I'd still hightly recommend the Visual novel. You've basically only gotten the skeleton of what Higurashi is, ESPECIALLY as far as the characters are concerned. So fun thing i think happened in k1's arc, i think rena still kills rina and teppei and hides the bodies in the trash heap. She thinks k1 is suspicious of the bodies especially when he talks to oiishi so many times after going to the dump site . Because of that her disease should have strated flaring up. So i think there is a real chance she chased after him with a hachet. It may also explain why she was tugging on the chain and being creepy.

And Rena tugging on the chain was her joking around. She apologizes for taking the joke too far. When Keiichi pushed Rena as she laughed she wasn't actually laughing she was crying Because she couldn't help him and it was all happening the same way as it did to satoshi. and rhe scene with the syringe was actually Mion and Rena playing the Punishment game with Keiichi for not guessing the ohagi (which didn't have a needle in it but rather hot sauce) what Mion held wasnt even a syringe but a marker. They were gonna draw on his face. And the vn makes all these facts a lot more clearer than the anime.
